I have recently been showing support for the coming Chinese brands, having been shopping for an electric car in Colombia. What they are doing in the car market is pretty astounding and I have no doubt that they can build product at any quality level. Now there is a wave of chinese dirt bikes coming and I WAS optimistic until....
Bought a 2026 Yz 450 3 weeks ago and had been stepping on the peg mount a lot. So decided to buy new mounts and instead of opting for titanium, went w the Nice CNC mounts. In my mind they were CNC'ing these out of aircraft grade aluminum and there wasn't much risk of something to go wrong. Well it did, after 2 hours I landed a jump and the right peg mount snapped off. SO looks like I have the same injury as Jett had and having surgery next week.
Long story short, learn from my stupid mistake and stay away from Chinese parts. And yes, I realize that many of the parts that we buy from other manufacturers are made in China.

I am in one of the biggest grossing industries and its very sad I can't do as much in US as id like.
Its too expensive to do research here, plus, our work force is less educated and doesnt have the work ethic.
Very frustrating I have 40 people working for me jn Chyna and Indya.
At the same time, weve been sold out by our corporations and wall street.
Fwiw, we bought the motion pro back 10mm oeg mounts
Also fwiw, i am investing in us jobs and vendors, we are bringing back us jobs by setting up labs in universities and hiring researchers out of work from NIH cuts.
Those cuts are not good, all investment is now AI and it wont end welll. If it works, Chyna and Indya will make cheaper hardware and have cheaper programmers. AI is not rhe plan IMO... data centers are for mass surveillance is my bet
Data Centers will be for kindling within 5 years.

$189.95 - $239.95
The price of the item is still the governing factor for quality. As in, you get what you pay for. China can make very crappy shit for very cheap. They can also make quality items, but they are not nearly as cheap.
I don't understand the mystery people see in all of this.
You can't have:

Like we used to say in the bike shop I managed, Light, Cheap, or Strong, pick 2.
Just as a PSA, I’ve seen plenty of adds and promotions from that company and there are all sorts of red flags flying all over the place, this is far from a “made in China” issue.
Any company that advertises “aircraft or aerospace grade aluminum” should be given extra scrutiny. That term means nothing, 6061-T6 aluminum used in your car is the same 6061-T6 aluminum used in a fighter jet, there are no differences in the alloying elements because it’s a standard mix across all industries.
Any company that seems to make everything under the sun should also be looked at with a higher level of scrutiny. It is physically impossible to produce the sheer number different products that they do and actually have any sort of testing process to validate designs, and even less likely that any quality control is being performed.
3. Any company that blasts adds all over social media with such frequency that you see them every single time you log on should be avoided. That’s very indicative of a “pump and dump” type of company that will produce complete garbage, sell a ton of it, then close up shop and re-open under a different name once enough incidents like this happen.
4. Replacing a critical steel structural part with an aluminum copy is generally not a good idea. Manufactures are relatively weight conscious so if they can get away with using an aluminum part in place of forged steel, you can pretty well bet that they will.
For the OP, I’m not at all trying to imply any of this was obvious, I just work with this type of stuff every single day so I’m hyper sensitive to a lot of it. The real problem is that people have absolutely no issues selling junk that they know can hurt or even kill people that aren’t as clued in if it makes them a quick buck, that sentiment is unfortunately more prevalent in China and it really gives the many quality shops and suppliers from there a bad name.

That sucks! Thanks for the warning.
I used Nice CNC pegs before, they were fine, I checked and the pegs don't have this warning like your mounts. Seems crazy they would sell these for a motocross bike knowing they would snap.
6061-T6 from different sources and certainly different continents…can, will, does…have different quality and doesn’t always meet the same “specification” in the real world.
This is especially when talking about China and commercial goods.
It comes from MTB parts pioneer Keith Bontrager’s well-known quote, “strong, light, cheap, pick two”, especially valid for MTB wheels…
Hard to believe this company is selling this type of part and they flat out tell customers it could break. No, doubt if / when it breaks for someone, a serious injury can happen. Bummed for the OP who now has a serious foot injury.
It will probably be deleted but I posted a review on their website that included a link to this post and also pointed out the companies own disclaimer on the part possible breaking and that they could not be held responsible for anything.
OP, good luck with your surgery!
Reminds me of this sign I saw at an auto repair shop.
Do you want it fast, cheap, or good. Pick two.
You can have fast and cheap, but it won’t be any good.
You can have fast and good but it won’t be cheap.
You can have good and cheap, but it won’t be fast.
100%, there’s all sorts of counterfeit material out there and any reputable manufacturer is going to perform a hardness test at minimum to vet incoming material. The main point I was trying to make is that the “aerospace grade” designation you see in marketing material all over the place means absolutely nothing, the material standard is the same across industries. Whether the material actually meets that standard is a whole other story. . .
Aluminum has no business being involved in a foot peg or bracket, I don’t care who/where it’s made.
china does a lot of things good. metallurgy is not one of them.
Pit Row
Why pay the big bucks for titanium when you can have lightweight chinesium?
If you want to save money when buying a critical safety component on the motorcycle like foot peg mounts, definitely go with steel. Cheap and aluminum should have been a red flag. Too late now but somebody else can learn from your mistake and hopefully save themselves an injury.
I thought all the Japanese bikes come stock with aluminum peg mounts? With big bolts of course???
This is why I support the industry and buy my parts from companies that support the sport or owned by core moto people.
They're using 7075-T6 on these, which is great for strength, but not so hot for stress corrosion cracking or mitigating crack propagation. Those aren't huge concerns, so long as:
A. They don't machine in large stress risers, like the sharp internal corners exactly where this broke, and
B. They don't create feather thin features for a crack to easily initiate, like they did, also where the part broke, and
C. They don't laser etch their logo to act as yet another stress riser, opposite the earlier mentioned stress risers, again, right where this broke, and
D. The material actually is up to the standards of what they say it is, which is questionable.
Oops. But they are a good deal at only $60 retail...
This really sucks for the OP. Hope you heal up quick!
To JM's point, I used to spend countless hours building F-16s. They use good stuff where it matters, and as Luxon said, they try to eliminate things that cause problems during the manufacturing of stressed components. BUT! If they decide a part needs a part number tag attached to something, they are using whatever works that is light.
And it's officially "Aircraft Grade Aluminum".
By 2030 prediction: Data centers will be kindling within five years. I'm betting we're one massive AI exploit away from a corporate "HOLY SHIT" moment. The kind of revelation that makes all the conspiracy theorists everyone laughed at suddenly look like Nostradamus. NVIDIA is already putting LLM-capable machines on the desktop. By 2030 there will be clones everywhere. Why co-locate sensitive data when you can process more of it locally? Data centers aren't disappearing. Storage and streaming still need them. But the rush to centralize everything? I think we're going to watch that pendulum swing hard the other way.
Is this Aluminum? Stolen from Vital. The baretrap is titanium. But what its bolted to?
This, unequivocally.
Go drill some washers if you need to save weight, don't do it here.
It appears to be aluminum, therefore shouldn’t be in use there in my opinion. But you and your stolen picture can do whatever you like.
And that peg is not titanium.
the technical term for what you bought is Chinesium
