I know another media outlet did the new Honda test with Josh. Not sure about him leaving MXA though.
Yes he started his own company but I can’t remember the name of it. Hold steady or something.
I saw this video and was a little confused as well! Makes sense he’d do his own thing he’s certainly built a name and brand for himself

Josh’s bike reviews are some of the best out there. Wishing him success with his new company!
I noticed this as well. I'm kind of bummed because I felt like Josh had the ability to bring back some of that old MXA glory. Say what you will about (the now 79 year old) Jody, but he built MXA up into something of an institution. Before RacerX or even "The Racing Paper", there was MXA. I think MXA needs to be preserved the way 2-strokes need to live on. Josh had the ability to make that happen.
No disrespect to Daryl and Dennis but they don't have that "je ne sais quoi" needed in contemporary video-based media. The target audience has changed, as has the format for delivering moto-info. Hopefully they can keep it going for years to come. But they'll need to find some fresh blood.
I do miss Jody. If he made some cameos in the MXA vids, that'd at least get some of the old guard more interested in MXA's content. He was polarizing but his role in the American motocross scene cannot be overstated. He was the only one who had the balls to speak up about Luongo, Srb and Youthstream's corrupt ways. I wish I could spend some time with the dude listening to his stories firsthand.
I am sure MXA will miss Josh but they will replace him and continue on, just like the last 50+ years..
I enjoy his reviews, cool that they're trying something new.
Thought for sure that Jody would end up leaving the keys to MXA with Josh. Glad it ended on a good note—they are all good folks. Onward & Upward.
Keefer.
Yeah, me too. Not sure if it’s the changing environment or what. Seems like it was a pretty good gig at an established outlet. There are so many start up “YouTube” content creators it has to be hard to break through.
I thought he would be a lifer at MXA also. I hate that he has left but wish him nothing but success with the new venture. Hope MXA can find a replacement as good as Josh.
no shot
Matt Burkeen would have to clean up a few things, but he might be a fit !
Daryl Ecklund?
Kevin Sherman from Florida?
Again?
Pit Row
I never even know who is truly an employee there. Daryl and Josh fout do a lot of videos, but both do other gigs, there’s the one whole family that does tests, Brian medieros, etc. but Josh and Trevor seemed like the only two “employees” outside of Jody.
First I have watched his reviews - this one is very well done from the videoing and information has me captivating - Very Tommy Tender like with the Lawrence's.
See Josh is at Welsh Enduro GP….
Austin Forkner step right in to a dream job!
lol
What would be ideal for that position:
In my opinion, that "guy" isn't a retired racer, it's a fast-ish mechanic. Someone has to have a practice mechanic who's been grinding it out, waiting for a shot at something.
This way you get what you had with Mosiman, but it's not always in the parking lot of Pala.
Bring in the Eks goggle guy👍
Haha yess ... He was their guy roughly 94-97 after DeCoster left. DeCoster was that guy/The Man from 93-94 between HRC and Suzuki.
My understanding is that Josh Fout is stepping up with some help from Dennis Stapleton. Both are solid riders, know their stuff, and will tell it how it is. Jmo was great with MXA, and he still will be at his new gig. So now we get both MXA and Hold Fast with solid reviews/opinions from two different sources. Should be a good thing for everyone.
I have been a MXA reader/online follower since 1981. The magazine used to be relevant. Since 2009 MXA has compared every CRF450 with the holy grail 2008 model. That’s almost 20 years. If you review all their tests they always refer to that bike as being the greatest ever. Despite how good it was that was a very long time ago. Since Josh would have been 11 when that bike came out I doubt he’d have any memory of it. Adding “one tooth to the rear sprocket” on almost every bike gets old too. I suggest Josh wanted to get out from the antiquated status quo and do something on his own. He put in his time and now he can be independent. I’m looking forward to his new content. As far as MXA goes they’ll be hard pressed to get a replacement with Josh’s level of talent and writing ability. It will be interesting to see how long MXA is going to be around in today’s climate
Every silver lining needs a black cloud?
MXA has been around and very solid since the mid 1970s, I’ve read just about every issue since 1977. There’s been better times and worse times but they never lost their focus. And at their worst, they were still better than most competitors..
The right people will step up and put in charge.
It’s over…..
