I just tried to watch on Prime. I clicked on the LL link, and it took me to a show about USAC dirt track racing.
Growing the, I mean a sport
I watched it earlier with no issue on Prime
Nobody seems to care about FLO paying $1000 to 1st, $500 to 2nd, and $250 to 3rd place in all Lorettas Classes this year??
I am sure that will somehow be negative lol.
The Shop
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Me too. The dirt track came on after the LL coverage ended.
What, you didn’t watch it through Flo??
Hmmmm. I guess Right Hook No Candy just got clipped or deleted his comments. By the way, his last comment said MX Sports was "netting" $10 million off amateur racing. That is insane.
HELL NO they are not "netting" 10M. NET means actual profit after all expenses, payroll, etc etc. Let's say their net margin is 30% (which most companies would kill for and I guarantee you MX Sports is not at), that means total revenue would be $34 million.
No need to. I don't have friends racing this year or any classes I am interested in enough to watch it. If it was still free I wouldn't watch it either other than maybe Pro Sport, 25+ and 50+. Prime was on for a short time and it was 85's so I watched that for about 10 min. Hopefully that is ok with you.
Nope that’s awesome. The way you justified it I just figured you would be first in line to hand over your CC, you know, speak with your wallet
Fair point. I am more defending a business trying to grow and make decisions that support their employees, investors, and of course their customers.
It wouldn't surprise me if Flo tries to get it again, they wanna become "The Netflix of Sports". If you look at the growth of their portfolio in recent time, they are really pushing, but it always feels like they don't put a great effort in making the broadcast better and just roll on with what is in place.
Yeah dude. Osbourne, Nicoletti & weimer get their entry fee back after they bring all the viewers. Glad that works out for them.
Weimer ain’t bringing anyone, and the others are already getting paid by Husky and Beta.
What about the Schoolboy kid or the 65 riders? People lining up the watch them because they are getting paid too.
Thats top notch viewing. Great close footage and commentary!
$63K purse.
$63K / $40 = 1,575 montly subscribers or 396 (@$159) annual subscribers. There are 1,512 class spots at Loretta's. They're "in it for the long haul". Will they continue this charity next year or is this a damage-control thing? We'll see.
At least we know someone reads the forums.
I’m okay with it being limited to a certain time period, but that’s not what it said on my screen. It said “hey you wanna watch coverage of LL right now? Click here.” And then it dumped me into an entirely different program with no notification whatsoever. At least Peacock will tell you when a stream is no longer available.
"...but it always feels like they don't put a great effort in making the broadcast better and just roll on with what is in place."
That, um, sounds familiar....
Plus, Warner Bros / Discovery are actively 'playing' with the rules and regs within the sport.
Seems the UCI ( a bunch of pricks themselves ) have actually ceded control of the Sport, especially Down Hill, to them.
Pit Row
they are. cutting the podium from 5 to 3 was shameful.
Something I don't think I've seen touched on ( though, I haven't followed the latest Loretta's controversy much), is :
It will be interesting to see the reaction from long time sponsors / companies about the subsequent exposure , or Lack of it, they may now get through this Pay To View package.
Reduction of the viewers ( logically, this PTV will do that, and, I think , Substantially ) of the racing, and the viewership of their advertising, through Rider Backing - products used and identified - Track Signage, and, Advertising directly through the broadcast.
They might just do the Sums - Sponsors / Companies within the Industry, and, even the runners of the event - DC & Co, and find a significant Loss of a ROI.
I'd like to see a breakdown of that, at the end of this. But of course, we will not see it - ' Commercial In Confidence ' - it's how it goes, obviously = Non Of Our Damned Business 😁
It could be Quite an eye opener.
PS : I checked Prime Aus - not there for us, as I expected. I guess I might have a squizz at a bit of Matt's stuff, eventually if only to see if they've moved that Jump / Track a bit further away from that Tree that poor blighter hit last year.
They cut a tree down near the track. I think it was the one that was hit last year.
Yeah dude I am not going to sit here and go ten rounds with someone who has proven no critical thinking capability lol. You make wild analogies that don't make logical sense, disregard all of the issues in the past with this EXACT entity (flo), don't take any of the points about the organic growth from being on youtube, younger viewership, etc into account, etc. Literally all you have said is that we should all be happy as hell to get out our wallets and hand it over. Seriously what is the point in arguing with you? You have come on here for days now and been MX sports best soldier fighting tooth and nail for them, then you say you are watching the race delayed on Prime? Are you not ponying up for this awesome paid service we get for this amateur race?
My career is in accounting and corporate finance, I've worked on budgets, forecasts and LRFP in multiple industries and settings. You picked the wrong person to tell they have "no clue" lol.
Its ok dude, we get it. You are completely fine and support them charging to watch this race. No sense in going back and forth any further.
Edit to add: I just want to say for the record I DID pay for the Flo coverage because I have the means to do so and I am able to watch the races while I work. On the other hand, in my friend group, there are 4 people who refuse to pay. Of our group of 6, only 2 paid for Flo.
LOL. Cool story bro. Your career is clearly not in corporate finance. Good luck bro
I'm not the most tech savvy guy, but I don't see a way to watch replays of live events on prime? I can't watch live during that window, but would like to later..
It worked fine for me a few minutes after the start time.
Flo covering Lorettas is "foreshadowing" to Peakcock dropping SMX and Flo picking it up.
It's coming.
MattyB hasn't posted anything from today. Lets hope he didnt get a talking too and he'll have videos up soon.
Its wild this has 50/50 down to up votes anyone that down voted this is a greedy pedophile
I think they would be thrilled. It's not just about how many Loretta Lynn attendees/families that might or might not subscribe - or the less than <100 unduplicated unique complainers on Vital steadfast in their refusal to subscribe - it's about the 1 million+ viewers already on Flo that they can introduce to the sport. Flo's big picture is to develop diversified content for its universe of subscribers. I doubt it makes very much short term money on Loretta Lynn's (if any) when costed out. The long bet is that over months/years is the content like this helps attract and retain viewers.
I'm thrilled the exposure this move gives the sport.
I say Flo give every unique attendee a 3-month subscription so that they and family can view/follow.
The rest of us can decide if we want to pony up $40.
The monetization of unpaid athletes always feels in bad taste to me. I'm also curious about the legal loopholes they must jump through to not get hit by lawsuits and NIL reform that groups like the NCAA have been subject to. I don't think Lorettas started that way but (as others have stated in other threads) the whole thing just kind of feels like a game of extracting revenue. 36 classes worth of fees and now they get Grandpas $40 so he can watch kiddo race. Flo brags about their # of members but I'd be more curious to know other KPI's, like what the delta is on viewership from before and after a sport is picked up by them.
Either way, I definitely won't be updating my adblocker and searching "Loretta Lynn" "stream" "free" in various search engines and seeing what websites pop up.
