I had the feeling the new section bunched up riders more and a lot of passes were made in the corner and uphill after that section specially. Beaumer alone made like 3 passes there in moto 2. Worked out great imo
Honestly, I thought all the changes made it even better. Track prep seemed perfect. I hope other tracks take notes.
Maybe the "Snow Cat" is the trick.
Trips me out every time I see it on track.
Every National track needs some changes every year so its a challenge for the racers.

I applaud the Martins for trying new layouts...even if they do not work and need to be reversed the following year. Heck, the facility has been in existence for 53 years. I started racing the track back in 1975 when Kawasaki factory rider Tommy Benolkin was the fast guy (on a 125 Elsinore)!
The best kept secret is to stay at a motel along the Mississippi.
I think my favorite part of the change to Mt. Martin was the absolute drag race we got from the Chapault to the top of Mt. Martin. It flowed so well and they got to hold it on the entire time. Seeing Jett and Hunter battle neck and neck through that section was just insanity.
Juju and Mosiman in the first moto looked absolutely bonkers through that section as well.

Spring Creek is among the best.

Used to ride with Tommy back in the early 2000's at a track 1/4 mile from my house. Guy was still fast as hell. Was in amazing shape too.
Uhm, stating the obvious here, but "safer" doesn't necessarily mean fewer crashes. In this case it just means fewer high speed crashes.
MV is awesome and the atmosphere there is unmatched. Driving into the valley up the windy secondary highway gets me giddy every time.
Any other tracks have this situation going on with the pop up canopies? Pretty much the entire inside section of the track had the fence lined with these. People set them up the day before to reserve a front row spot. Blocks anyone from being able to see anything that isn't uphill from them. Seems to be getting worse each year. Our usual spot to watch is now completely blocked.
I guess that's what happens when the track is owned and run by racers... = awesome race track!
People have been complaining about this all year. I think they need to make a rule for all tracks that EZ-UP tents can’t be setup with 50’ of any fence line. It is a very selfish move to claim an area that doesn’t belong to you with a structure that blocks everyone else’s view.

What is your favorite track from a viewing perspective Manny? What track did you feel you could walk around the whole track to watch, and not be 50 feet back? Washougal was my home track, and from that perspective, it is really hard to beat.. You can walk the whole track, sit wherever you want, and despite during the national some of the VIP sections and signage blocking, it is still one of the best. I would say Redbud is just about as good as Washougal, you can walk everywhere you want, you are not ridiculously far back, AND you can leave at the end day without needing an extra 4 hours to get to the freeway like Washougal. Now for the opposite perspective, we were at Ironman for MXoN, and I thought it sucked in terms of ability walk around, see the whole track (the finish side of the track was even completely blocked off for general admission), I felt really corralled (tightly too) and was a long ways away from anything. It is a great track, but just one that is better watched on TV (IMO).
I agree the changes at Spring Creek were great BTW, but the track prep and work made it perfect.. Great conditions, plenty of places to pass all over the track, great work!

I actually did that at Pala 2 2022, when Chase and Eli were 1 point apart at the finale. It was also something like 110 degrees that day. So I walked straight to the fence line through some guy's ez-up to watch the race. Found out from my friends later that one of the old fat fucks under the ez-up was miming punching me in the back of the head as I was watching the races. Very cool!
A cold beer or one of those tastey grilled turkey legs can be used to barter for a spot under the ez-up
I thought that going at an angle down hill double was janky. Narrow in and the landing. I thought riders had a good chance of colliding on it. Try to out brake a rider coming into it & then contact in launch.
I thought another way would have been to make a “Z”. out of it.
Come down the main down hill, take your left and come up at around a 35 degree, a small obstacle and then right back down the hill. Approx 60 degree on both the left and the right turns.

Track prep at Millville was top notch and the other tracks should take note. I'm so sick of slot car tracks. I remember Red Bud from the 80s and 90s and though the prep was much better then. The last time I rode Red Bud at a Loretta's regional, it wasn't near the fun it used to be. I hope to get a chance to ride Millville one day if I ever get over this back surgery.
An experienced owner with two competitive racer sons must be the secret sauce. It was def a well prepared racer track. I give it 👍🏻👍🏻
Man, Minear was throwing down over the Chad. Few of them looked like he might not be able to bring it back in time. Millville was all time. Millville is hallowed grounds for sure. The harescrambles kick ass too.
I've had many of the same experiences as you. I've even had a great "walk around" at Hangtown (think I last attended in '24).
Love the Shoug and it's definitely one of those races where I ADV/Dual-Sport in from town.
Haven't been to Ironman in a few years. The huge events like MXoN are ALWAYS a Zoo.
My favorite track for watching a National is actually Spring Creek. I'm a fan of "vertical challenges" on an MX track. The Shoug and Dilla are tied for 2nd.
