Just thought I'd pass this along: Steward Baylor discusses testing the Kawi two-stroke - On the Pipe Podcast. More off-road relevant, but certainly good info and insight on the new bike:

Relevant talk begins just after 3 minutes in.
Thanks Stu. for the info. When asked a bought why Kawasaki chose 327cc . The kx112 is 27cc more than the 85. Why?? Haha
Great interview. Bike sounds awesome.
"Well, it's one louder, isn't it?"
For when you need, you know, that extra push over the cliff......

Perhaps it's because that displacement is about as big as they can go, while still being able to later use the same cases and cylinder castings to accommodate a a smaller bore and shorter stroke to arrive at 250cc.
They know 2 strokes are a sinking ship but that sinking ships give new beginings (electric).

Why don't you just make the amp louder and then 10 will be louder?
"...This one goes to eleven."
Interesting that he said he went faster right away on the 327 on an MX track than on his 450X. I don't know enough about how his 450 is setup to draw a conclusion, but that is promising. Also, he never differentiated whether he was riding the 5-speed or 6-speed 327. Probably the 6-speed X version mostly?
Does he mention the similarities to a ktm 300?
I am surprised this thread is not more active. He gives good insight on the development of the bike and gives nice details. Anyone interested in the KX327 should give it a watch.
You mean the bike actually exists apart from IA pics?
😄
He said in the interview that he spent most of his time on the off-road version, and only road the moto version a couple of times.
Later he mentioned that when he first got the bike he ran it to the limiter quite a lot, and that the testers had the same engine running/riding for almost the entire day. He felt good about the reliability, and that Kawasaki had it in production for a couple years prior to his starting to test.
Looking to see Josh Toth on one sooner than later. He's been riding a 03 kx250 quite a bit in his instagram videos. Stu mentions something about Josh lining up for a race on the 327 before the seasons over.
I know he's paid by Kawasaki but it's interesting that he said the bike was faster than it's 450 and he likes a fast 450 before they toned it down. Sounds like a lot of tunability.
Yep he said mapping allows for a lot of options for the rider.
Like my 300SX, very tuneable...by a specialist, not in your area. No choice!
The ePV mapping is a key to powerband character. Hooks up better out of turns, no gnar hit mid sweepers. Back to back with a YZ250, 300SX so much better in every aspect. And as easy to ride as my YZ250F, lighter too. KX likely gonna be as heavy as a 450.
Sounds like the efi 2strokes have some serious possibilities.
Boy I don't know, I am no Stew Baylor for sure, but I have owned a two stroke and four stroke for years now and those four strokes sure hook up. I guess it depends on the track and conditions though.

In Japanese, 2-7 can be expressed as Fu-Shichi. Go to google translate and type in Fushichi in Japanese.
No one is doing that, probably that black dudes dick or something right?
Nah.. not my style.

They’re probably having to split it up. It’s like an hour long. Just sayin
Back in the day Dirt Bike did a comparison of the 1985 XR600 and CR500. One of the tests they did was starts.. what was interesting was how the XR dug into the ground more leaving a deeper trench. The CR skated more on top of the ground.
That's not correct Japanese. 2-7 is expressed as
に ひく なな
ni hiku nana
2 minus 7
7 is expressed as either nana or shichi depending on context. Two is almost always ni except in counters where it's expressed as ふたつ (futatsu), which means two things. But Japanese has a ton of different counters so there are other variants starting with fu or ni.
Thank you for the Japanese lesson Sensei. I only got 35 years on and off in Japan so I am a little rusty. How about you? By the way, I was making a funny. A play on words. It wasn't intended to be taken so literally. 冗談だよ
Maybe 2-7 can become dirt bike peoples' 6-7
I’m also learning to speak Japanese right now. わたしは日本語のがくせいです
日本語上手ですね!...なんてね 😉
日本語の勉強、頑張ってね! (にほんごのべんきょう、がんばってね!)
I'm also a student of the language, it's not an easy language to get up to speed on from my experience! I try to read a little every day, and if I'm doing a task I will learn how to describe the task in Japanese and say it out loud to myself. Every chance to practice I take.
Also can't stop thinking about having a new KX327 in my garage. I've always bought cheaper but newer bikes to save money. This will be my very first ever new bike purchase and I cannot sit still from the excitement and reading/hearing about the bike like in OP's youtube.
I love Japanese people's ability to not take themselves very seriously at least in tv commericals.
