No doubt. For me to ever take on adult babysitting…oops, supervising…again would require true FU money.

Having lived in 50+ years of my life in SoCal I agree with all the negatives, but it's more than the salary: health insurance is insanely expensive if you have to buy on your own. vision insurance +, Pet insurance is great if you have pets (we always had 2 rotties and vet bills can get expensive) but I'd rather have dental at this stage PTO bank is great, 401k match is rare these days but its free $, = that's a value-added bene package. CA also has no State Income tax which is worth a chunk of $ too.

The job probably means being on the road a lot, so renting an apartment (maybe with roomies from work) means no huge house expenses and if you lived close(r) to work and/or adjusted your commute times that would help there. Relocating a family there would be harder but for some individuals it could be doable for a couple years.

California does have state income tax.

Especially in Cali, where $120k is almost starting wage. Just the sheer inconvenience of working in that sh*thole state makes the wage even more of a joke. Hell, I live in the MW and wouldn't work for that.

Hey hey, we can't all live in the oasis that is Wisconsin buddy!

It’s good to know Kawi is pet friendly. But damn how can anyone live on that in Ca….

$120k (with full benefits) isn't THAT bad.  Especially if you are younger and don't have kids.  But I imagine that job has a lot of stress and headaches to go with it, which makes the pay seem a little underwhelming.

What exactly do all you guys do who think 120k plus beni's is a pittance? I may need to aim higher (or move to Wisconsin?).

I've never came close to making that. I honestly thought it was a good wage when I read thru it.

More than that, it's the responsibilities for that level of pay.

Bare minimum, that should be a $150k+ job.

I'm a video editor that usually works the equivalen of 6 to 8 days per week at multiple organizations, but I currently work just 3 days a week for just over $100k in the D.C. Metropolitan area.

That would be good pay and benefits if it were in a state with no state income tax, like NV. But I'm not so sure about Southern California, unless you're a single person with no dependents or debt to worry about.

Foothill Ranch. Plus its not 100% in person. Most HQ employees are 4 days a week in person, 1 day remote.

In Tennessee that would be a livable wage, but in California you would be living in a single-wide trailer in the desert.

I have a college education and 115-120 sounds pretty good to me. Getting paid that to supervise seems like a great job

The equivalent non-income-tax-state income for a $120k California job would be about $112k.

You guys are crazy.  In the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim area, the median household income for first-time homebuyers is $167,000.  So if you had this job and married to somebody who is working full-time, you are likely above median.

Working in tech for over a decade in this state has broken how I see all salaries, but 120 is not good for the location and the seniority of the role. Probably 140-150k

As someone with no experience in this role, unfortunately I'll have to withhold my application as I may be overqualified for the position

Those numbers are the average of 10k user submitted supervisor salaries in California. Should give an accurate estimate across. A product supervisor at Google is likely in the 500k range and as you mentioned a call center supervisor may be 50k.

Is another supervisor really part of the solution to Kawis' problems? Endless alignment meetings, micromanagement, diluted accountability, slower cadence, and bottlenecks...

Maybe it comes with the promise of promotion to Dan Fahie’s role when he is fired? Almost like a working interview role.

I can't believe they'd actually put god dam pet insurance as one of the main benefits. Like that is supposed to attact someone or be the deciding factor...lol. "Yeah honey...the pay sucks, the hours are long and the commute is horrific...but they're offering pet insurance."  What a joke. But, it's Cali. I bet if you really pushed, you could get emotional dependent plant care coverage at a reduced cost thrown in as well.

Pet insurance is just the corporations H.R. departments trying to keep up with one another to "attract the best talent" instead of paying people a decent salary. In my opinion, $120k for this role is not acceptable especially in California. I would imagine high stress and a lot of travel with long hours. Our engineers are making 120k+ and they don't supervise anyone. I'd put this in the $160-180K range being a supervisor role.

I used to think making $100k was a big deal, but then I found out every Tom Dick and Harry makes $130-$150K in my old industry with easy office jobs.

It's not a "main" benefit.  It's just a benefit.  I think that listing is from Indeed, and a lot of Indeed listings are scraped from other sources.   The listing on the Kawasaki website has Pet Insurance listed as one of many benefits.  Indeed probably just happened to list it first. Pet insurance is probably just part of the bulk insurance program (Health, Dental, Vision) that the corporate office signed up for.

That's what I made working at The Boeing Company when I retired in 2021. My wife worked part time and I have a retired Air Force pension and I still couldn't afford a house in Orange county. We rented a two bedroom with a garage from a friend for $2500 a month and that was a deal.

That's why when I retired the end of 2021, I moved to Georgia. I have my Air Force and Boeing retirement plus Social Security. I'm making about $50k less a year and we are living better in Georgia than we ever have. We bought a 2400 sqft house for $285k. No state tax here and they don't tax your pension or Social Security.

Life is good.
