Cool pre-race footage of the track just before the USGP, no bikes had ridden yet.

It was green grass covered for rewind this year. Once the bikes hit the track, it turned into concrete. Zero ruts all outside man made berms. Super slick. I heard Sunday was much better after they dug it.
I wish they'd race just a single round and leave it hardpack
Wish there was more footage of that race
I raced that race in n the 500 class. My son was a baby and I bought him this shirt. My daughter and grandkids have all worn it. I still have it.

Just raced the amateur classic there this past weekend. That track is so gnarly, like chocolate cake on steroids in the morning. Then at the end of the day it’s like a warzone. Not one inch didn’t have a rut or a bump. Kickers on the massive jumps too. I made a last lap pass in gravity cavity, shit like that is what I do it all for man what a feeling!
While I'm glad its still on the schedule, that track is shell of it's former self. If you lnow you know. Flame on
High Point hosts a LL Area Qualifier, the AMA National, a GNCC and DITD. I know it'll never happen but with just 4-events a year, could they theoretically do an "all grass in the morning" type of track one of these years? Just for the sake of nostalgia? Like when Supercross had all those weirdo track designs from the 80s. The Northeast seems perfect for that sort of thing and it could serve as a regional "tradition" or something like that. MX Sports runs the track so there's no track host that would need to be persuaded to play along (like the Robinsons at 'Dilla). They could just do it if they wanted to. #wishfulthinking
If they don’t rip it, its hard & slick…typical western NY hard, clay/ rocky base with whatever top soil is left or put back on the track….if they rip it deep, its rut o cross….fine line for prep…hard to please everyone, most Ahrma vintage guys want hard & smooth for their 4 inches of travel…..younger modern riders want ruts to emulate loretta lynns folklore….I have spectated and raced many times over the years……for me, the track will never be as good as it was originally, natural terrain, loamy top soil and rough as hell…..I”m not a big fan of the man made jumps…but I understand that’s what the new generation wants….the GP”s were so epic back in the day….it was hard to believe such an iconic track & event was right in our red neck, trailer park backyard…
this is how it's supposed to be.....seed it after use and leave it alone. tracks today are groomed too much
Rut-o-cross
Green grass and high tides forever?
Next you'll want a castle of stone, souls, and glory
no, just a natural motocross track....what's wrong with that?
isn't that what we have now?
Almost every race
They should hv a track in the Lake Placid area up& down the mountains & big hills, most beautiful part of America by far. With all the lakes & the windiest creeks . Only problem the trucks would burn up the auto transmissions trying to get there. Lol if Truckers can run 38% grades in the NE back roads , it’s time for an Extreme mx track . Or a new sport Moutain cross. Lol Pa. Had a 1940,s auto race down a mountain. Still racing tracks designed for 1970,s bikes , why ?
well, those tracks designed for 70's bikes are smoother, jump filled, and groomed like a 2000's snatch
I was lucky enough to get over from the UK to race Rewind in 2019 , and got down to the gate early for first practice, it had rained heavy overnight and they had left the top sealed, and it was grass pretty much all the way round, although only maybe 6 inches at most.
It was still a rip though. Loved it.
While it didnt get proper rough, it was nice, and its surprising how small it felt to ride, after watching on TV , Gravity Cavity was way gentler than it looks on TV and all the jumps were pretty straight forward nothing is huge, even the skyshot isnt that big , you can get 3/4 of the way across without even trying, The guy who beat me for the win was doing it on a CR500 wearing sunglasses LOL. I was too far away from home with dubious insurance to want to risk doing it on a 40 year old bike .
Would love to ride it back in the day .
Man, I miss when Unadilla looked like this.
Pit Row
YES!!!!!!!!
This was the height of the greatness that made Unadilla….
I don't think the fans or the riders want these big man-made jumps all the time. A natural terrain track would be great. But there is a notion with the powers that control the sport that there must be huge jumps. This is too bad.
Still pretty wild to think that Hannah volunteered to ride the woeful 87 RM125 at the '87 MXdN
I think this was one of the last times Wardy rocked the open face helmet
Vibe check failed
hannah rode a works bike at the 87 mxdn, not remotely close to a stock 87. there are some photos if you can find them, showing clearly the case reed engine, which didnt make production until 1989 model year.
One more year! 😃
'88! Pretty much the last of the Mohicans!
Someone should do a podcast about this bike and honestly the race itself.. with Hannah, Wardy and Johnson
Track was perfect for MXON on Saturday practice and than the rain came!!!!!They didn't cut out Screw U out because of the rain even with the 125's and now in the 4 stroke era they do???????
Whiskey Throttle probably has.
I'd be interested in the USGP RA250 with the Boyeson link rear end. That thing was built with pencils and paper, prior to CAD. Hammering that bike at speed for the first time had to be similar to a Lockheed test pilot. They had a hard time getting linkage right back then.
Magoo had a KTM 500 works linkage fail so badly the swingarm dropped out from under him and he woke up in the hospital. KTM wouldn't show him the bike afterward either.
Hannah loved it -
