there was a lot of "he's a supercross only guy" narratives floating around. Very few people had him as a favourite in the various preview and prediction shows

James asking McGinley questions that he already knows the answer to.

James: “What can a guy who isn’t hydrated do to get prepared?”

McGinley: “Nothing outside of getting an IV.”

James just nods in agreement. 😂

Crashed a lot in his first 250 year (while only being 16), went toe to toe with De Wolf and just barely missed out on the title in his 2nd year, moved up to MXGP already last year and only missed out on the title because he came into the season injured, leads the points now and will still be the youngest ever MXGP champion if he wins it this year. He's special.

Yaa he’s a James and Jett kind of talent imo

It's crazy how many people wrote him off after he only raced a handful of pro races (after an injury) and went toe-to-toe with deegan in a moto at Budds. Someone with that much natural talent and speed on a supercross track was always going to figure it out in MX too

yeah I get that, like before this season started. Cause last year he was injured outdoors and only raced a few. But in those first 2 rounds he proved he is in title contention more than enough imo

As a euro guy, he's the talent that has got me the most excited since the Roczen and Herlings breakthrough years

In case anyone thought if the twins are gonna be conservative I guess Sacha just answered that lol
Kids WFO the whole damn time.

Surprised by Lucas' speed actually. He's usually not great in time practice. I don't think he was first in qualifiying in any race this year. Maybe I missed one but he's usually quite a bit off in practice

Honest question... do people consider a rider's nationality when watching a race (outside of MXDN)? It's an interesting observation that all of the riders who are hurt are American, but a rider's home country has no influence whatsoever on who I'm going to root for.

Sandman's comment just got me wondering. Would someone cheer for a rider (who they otherwise do not like) just because he's the last American with a chance to win? I certainly wouldn't.

Ye because this is only his 5th outdoor race, whatever he did in SX, this is his first full MX year. If he wins this in his first full year he would exceed any expectations, with the inconsistency of the field and Shimoda only winning once he's out of the points it's possible though, the last thing that dude needs is a confident ride like he had last weeekend

MXGP riders have the balls to do so , Coenen brothers showed they are here to play

Its great for the sport , much better as all that BS Deegan kids play

Title favorite*
If he wins today he's walking away with this thing. Stamp it
Yeah he got help with Seth and others crashing last week moto 2 but he looked unbelievable that second moto. If he rides even close to that the rest of the season he's gonna be hard to beat. And he's only gonna get better.

Oh I didn’t know that & that his brother is his twin , I thought there were different ages.  When he got a start in 125 emx on that Budd kx Ktm . His break way speed was crazy fast, I knew this kid was different. The French mxgp kx450 guy said he does no training off the bike. There’s days where he does 20 min on the track & a few starts . And says I,m good  haha & packs up & leaves.

What if Deegan beats him? Will they bash MXGP as much as they bash Deegan?

Less ripping is better....  you want slot car racing with the biggest ruts of the year?  They've overdone it in races past.

No, but inmy eyes the track needs a little bit of more ripping in some corners

Doubtful, they don’t wear “RIP Jett” shirts to their first 450 race lol.
