I havent said there is anything wrong with the Honda. Herlings has said, it's not as good in the sand as on hard packed. I still say, if he was on a KTM he could have gone with Lucas and probably beaten him. For sure if he gets better on the Honda later this year in sand, it will be hard to argue he wouldn't have been competitive past weekend if he was on a familiar bike rather than one he spent 3 months on.

He still showed up and put his reputation on the line on a track he'd never seen, on a bike he wasn't familiar with. The whole AMA v GP thing was insane back then. He had a lot to lose and the US fans would've slaughtered him online if it hadn't gone well, but he showed a lot of self belief and balls to do it anyway. There will be a lot of US riders also mathematically out of the points by mid season. It'd be great to see some come over and do a GP.

Herlings had one weekend off and used it to ride a borrowed bike at Ironman, along with all the other guys from GP's who have done it over the years. What do you think they're doing on any other weekends off; they're training, testing etc. GP guys keep being told "well, yeah, come over here and prove your speed!" and they keep doing so. Time for a few US riders to return the favour. Pretty lame excuse tbh..

Jesus if herlings does manage to beat Coenen this year on sand some people on here will be pulling their hair out. He’s 31 and his body is very tired. He still blew away a lot of quality riders. L

Not sure why you keep insisting there is nothing wrong with the Honda. And of course at this moment, it's as good as he will be on the Honda. That's the point 😄 There is zero chance that he after 2 sand races and 3 months, have nailed the Honda as good as the KTM, when he had said that the Honda is not as good in the sand. So yes, that's the 1 and 19 sec margin erased if he's on the KTM.

He’s not wrong though. Besides Deegan and Davies, the rest of the 250 class is a snooze fest with the same old tale repeating itself: flashes of brilliance and wildly inconsistent.

This isn't peak herlings... that day is long gone... same for gasjer and febvre.... lc is fast... but not some new level...

This isn't 2018. Herlings isn't what he was. You want to tell me that prime Herlings can't beat Coenan? It won't even surprise me if Herlings gets a lot better throughout the season

The depth of top level riders in MXGP is super impressive at the moment. I don’t think it’s any fluke that Europe is producing more elite riders than the US.

silly comparison Herlings has won a shit load of titles and races. Lucas has moved to the 450s and is fast. We don’t know yet if he will also be injury prone and then retire early… we really don’t know. maybe he’ll go to the US. Who knows….

Here in the US I started watching the MXGP races in earnest. They are really good and Malin is awesome. The camera work is way better than the US Nationals as well for the most part. The entire screen is used and no tiny split screens for half the fucking race. And no screech, no RC babbling, no side stories during the racing! Watching Herlings go into full turbo mode the last 7 minutes of moto 1 was simply astounding.

Herlings looked incredible this weekend. It was so fun to watch!

What a great GP. Herlings still has what it takes, really pleased to see TG243 back on the podium. I hope someone can get their hand i their pocket and get Herlings over for Lyng British Championship. That first Moto from Herlings was sublime, Febvre is watching the gap to Gajser, and Herlings pulls 15 secs back on them.

I don't know,Lucas is very talented and young,but guys like Jeffrey,Tim,Romain are proved legends and hard workers,thats why i feel like i feel cheer more more older guys. They all deserve more titles,but man injuries got em. So this year I hope somehow Jeffrey will win,on new bike and after so many years missing just because injuries,and i think he can,he is smart,he don't try extra risk anymore,when it's not possible.

I've gone from cursing Herlings to cheering him on for the championship win. Like I've said before, I just can't get myself to like the Coenen's for some reason.
