Yeah this is not even a conversation yet. If Jett can stay healthy for the next 5 years lets have a peek at the stats then. One of RC's most impressive attributes was the capacity to find more speed when he needed it. In his part time summer in 07, he refused to give in to James and he was willing to push the envelope to beat him with nothing on the line but his own pride. Everyone EXPECTED James to beat him, but the juggernaut that is RC refused to let it happen, I mean he sent it at every race he attended. And he did walk away with an easy title in 07 as well-Langston must be forever thankful. Once James went out trying to keep up to RC, Ricky could have ridden 80% and not lost a moto the rest of the way but he stayed true to his word and hung up his boots. He proved his point, and went off into the sunset with the ultimate mic drop. No one is better. Don't forget he also went to the Des Nations on a 2 stroke and beat Everts straight up on a factory Yamaha 4 stroke, on a track that favoured the 4 stroke. Guy took on all comers wherever it happened to be. Simply no one better, ever. The fuckin GOAT.

I hate these comparisons. Jett is insanely smooth, calculated, effortless looking style, mega creative. RC was a no quit, gritty, max stamina, gonna twist it till it broke and hold on, the most pure definition of a dog in the sports history. Reading those two sentences, who would make the most sense to have missed more seasons from injury? Rc? But it’s Jett. And Jett has competed in less premier class seasons to date. The reason these guys get hurt range from a multitude of factors. But it’s been the same way throughout history, just different narratives.

Also. Jett gets all the glory for coming back from injury and winning a title, he should definitely get props. BUT RC came back from his ONE season he missed and went fucking 24-0.

It’s not a knock on Jett, give Jett all the props for being the rider he is, but stop comparing the guy to RC, win percentages and all that AI slop the OP put together is nonsense. If you watched it live you would understand.

IMO it’s already over for Jett to match RC in MX. Reason being is if so Jett would need to retire in 2 years after winning 10 straight championships like RC did.

RC lapped the entire field once ya know 🧐 I’m a Jett fan but I don’t see anyone matching the GOAT’s accolades

The fact this is even a conversation says something about Jett, but it’s way too early.
There’s also never a definitive answer when trying to compare different eras.
But when all is said and done, the GOAT is still the GOAT.

Actually it says more about his fans…

I was today years old when I learned that there are people out there that think RC was a squid…

Sorry, Jett is a beast, but he is no RC. I friend who worked for team Yamaha told me this story. He said after Friday practice(the classes had a combined open practice back then) at GH in 1997, Doug Henry came back to the truck and all he could talk about was that "Carmicheal kid" blowing by him coming down Mt. St. Helen. And how who couldn't believe anyone could send it that hard and no way would he could survive a complete outdoor season etc.. The bottom line, RC had one prime directive- GOAT or death. And he made it happen. I doubt we will ever see another racer with the sheer force of will to dominate the world like RC. Even his retirement is a testament to his will. He knew his determination was starting to wane, so instead of facing the possibly of not dominating, he sets a date to walk away and does it. Still winning, still the dominate guy, still making millions, finally loved by the fans, his team begging him to stay, and he just walks away cold turkey and never looked back. RC was a one of one, and regardless of era, he is the baddest MF'er to ever race a dirtbike. Full Stop.

Most impressive to me was #85 on an outdated bike running through Everts on his home track at MXDN.

When we look at RC’s stats , it’s like there’s no way that really happened. Yet we all saw that it really did happen. We watched it week in and out .

Go one further… RC never (EVER!!!) lost a title defense! Meaning once he acquired a title, he NEVER LOST IT.

The only pseudo caveat is the 2004 SX title, which he never competed in due to injury. But he came back for 2005 and killed it on a new (to him) bike.

RC is the GOAT for so many reasons. That’s just one.

National Championships:

  • 3x 125 MX
  • 7x 250/450 MX
  • 5x 250/450 SX
  • =15 NATIONAL TITLES

This excludes his 125 East Coast title, which most would absolutely include in their stats but for RC it’s just a nice side note.

Dude was an animal. GOAT is very fitting!

RC was undefeated... end of discussion... wait, so is Jett currently... If he can go 10 in a row like RC, we can talk

At Hangtown 02 RC surpassed 70 combined wins. That was his age 22 season (3rd 450 outdoor year). RC would pass MC at High Point 03 for the all time record.

Jett is in his age 22 season and his 4th 450 outdoor year, I think he is at 47 combined wins.

The OP acting like he never grew up watching RC... The same type of person who thinks Taylor Swift is bigger than Michael Jackson. Not even close to the same. Jett has to win 8 outdoor titles in a row to even be close to that conversation, but he's too busy with injuries it seems. Another Stewart type unfortunately.

Any time Ricky's stats get brought out the conversation is over. The best they can do is whine that Jetts gotten hurt. Well, yeah buddy, Ricky went that fast and he didn't get hurt. He just kept decimating everyone season after season.

And he could have kept going. He left multiple titles and wins on the table

RC is the best to sling his leg over a dirt bike, outdoors, case closed.

I’ve been saying for a while now that Jett will be more comparable to Stewart than RC or MC

Watching RC outdoors was something else.  I swear he never let off the throttle even when he was about to go down. Dude was a beast.
