Hunter Lawrence Appreciation Thread

He rode hard, raced incredibly well, and had his best Supercross season ever. He's now at the elite level and he'll get his one day.

Many of us are stoked for Kenny because we all know what an incredible story his road to redemption has been, but Hunter's lifelong efforts should not be overlooked.

And the way he is riding, I'll wager this isn't his last shot at a 450 Championship. He is lethal indoors and out, he's going to be a thorn in everyone's side for years to come

Damn impressed with hunters class congratulating Kenny and watching the podium ceremony and speeches.

Dudes a beast. Crazy it came down to the final main and they battled 1-2 for half of the main.

I don't think you'll ever not see Hunter give it everything he has. He really is a racer through and through.  I'm looking forward to seeing what he does outdoors.  Congrats on a great year!!

Class act human.  I felt bad for him and both deserved the championship, I'm happy for Kenny.  Respect all around.

A true class act and hell of a racer. It would be sweet redemption for him to win the MX title this year.

Hunter is only twenty six years old.  I believe he will win at least one 450 super cross title before he retires.  He has really proved himself to be a title contender.

Hunter is starting to grow on me. Never disliked the guy, but I’ll be rooting for him to snag a 450 title now.

One of the first guys to stop and congratulate Kenny, and stuck around to give him props and talk to him during all the celebrations. Man was I impressed with his character last night. I hope I can teach my sons to be that kind of respectful men when they grow up.

If Hunter would have won I’d be happy still. I like both guys. Great season. I just really wanted Roczen to win.

Yeah I dont understand how a lot of people were saying it might be Hunter's only shot at a sx title. Hunter is elite now. Hes going to have a shot at the sx title every year. I expect him to be even better next year.

Hate this loss for Hunter. If it had been Chase, Jett, Eli or Coop one point behind going into this round, it would've been a lot easier to root for Kenny. Sucks that Hunter had to play the antagonist for Kenny's Cinderella story SX title.

That being said, I think he can hold his head high after this year, he's established that he's a top-tier SX guy, he's come a long way from being a 250 guy that didn't know how to skim whoops.

With Jett and Eli being somewhat injury-prone, and Deegan's 450SX skills being unproven as of yet, he very well may be back in the running for the title next year, at least I hope he is. He already proven a lot of people wrong with his performance this year.

Jett’s brother rode well. Hope this wasn’t his last shot at it but it will only get tougher here on out.

I agree it sucks for Hunter and there's no other more deserving rider thst I would have wanted to see win the title besides roczen

But hunter is still young, only his second season on a 450 and has many more seasons to get it done. Roczen has been at it 10+ years before getting it done

This was arguably kennys last shot. He's never even been close in the second half before, and even wins alone were hard to come by in the last few years, even being on a (supposedly) sub par team and bike.

As much as people are heart broken for hunter, we all would have been gutted if roczen lost it

So yea, while id be equally happy for either of them to win.. I would have been much more upset if Kenny lost it versus hunter, Kenny deserved it more at this point in time.

He went from no wins and barely any podium appearances before this year to -1 point at the winner-take-all finale. Its disappointing to not win it all I'm sure, but its a season to be proud of nonetheless. Great job to both him and Kenny.

Really wanted Kenny to win this, happy that he did. But hate it for Hunter. I believe that most post that I’ve seen was that they wanted Kenny to win, but didn’t want Hunter to lose.

Hunter carried himself so well. Really hope that he can get a 450 championship, in SX or MX.

Hunter is definitely a class act.

Clearly what separates Jett from Hunter is mental toughness. Hunter choked this championship away. Jett digs deep to win a championship. Give him props for being a class act.

I think this is just yet another stepping stone for Hunter and he WILL be a 450 champion. He's never speed walked into any championship and this year is no different. He got his first 450 SX win this year and took it to the last race. Yes, I love Kenny but I put Hunter ahead of him next year. Class act all around, I hope he doesn't have a SX hangover because he could be a real threat this outdoor season. I want to see him be a 450 champ.

One mistake cost Hunter the supercross championship. Much like Kenny in 2017 ( broken wrist), not that Hunter didn’t hurt himself. He was super consistent, until he had trouble with couple whoop sections, crash. Otherwise it was his. Hope he learned from this mistake. Made a believer out of many. Honda now has two serious sx contenders, that can win races. He will be a favourite for 2027.

26 isn’t that young for sx. Its Old. However the sx field is very old ( Tomac, Roczen, Stewart, Webb, friese, Anderson, all of team Husqvarna), all vet Mx racers.

Mad respect for Hunter. For moments there he was probably cussing himself inside his helmet. Can't imagine how he felt, but to do what he did, watching Kenny celebrate and accept the #1 plate and the SX 450 trophy, and walk over and congratulate Kenny, gained all the respect I can give him. Hunter showed what true sportsmanship is.

I hope he knows he gained some fans because of his character. Because I became a fan of his last night

Naw, I see this similar to AC when he had that heartbreaker in '19. Didn't miss a beat and came out swinging for outdoors. Hunter coming with a vengeance at Pala. Seeing Jett limping around still, wouldn't surprise me to see him win Pala. And the outdoor title if Jett is struggling with his injury

I was so torn on who I wanted to root for. In the end we got what we wanted a man on man race for the title. I think Roczen won it with the immediate pass and putting Hunter on offense. Leading in this situation was the right choice. They both put on a clinic for 11 minutes.

When the announcers were not even paying attention on Prado sneaking into the fray, plus the freight train coming behind him, I was "ohhh boy" the storm is coming.

Congrats to both guys! Both are classy racers. I teared up hard for Kenny the same way I did in 2017 when Osbourne pulled off a near miracle.

That's an old mindset. This year's SX champ is 32 years old. Last year's SX champ was 30. Eli was 29 when he won his last SX title in 2022. Guess he's got a few more years to go!
