9 years off, and Im back at it.

So I guess its been 9 years since I posted this:

https://www.vitalmx.com/forums/Moto-Related,20/Sold-the-bike-and-hung-u…

The itch to race has been real bad lately, so I pulled the trigger on a YZ250, and picked up my son a KLX110.

We'll see how this goes at 42 🤣

Hell yes. Congrats!  Forget racing, enjoy riding with your son.

New bike day for fathers and son is hard to beat.

Looks like @731chopper was right in your thread 9 years ago..."You'll be back...".

Congrats on the new ride, and more importantly congrats on being an awesome dad.

Riding is best thing ever. Riding with your son? I’m not there yet but I’d bet it’s the new best thing

And now I’m the one who has stopped riding… for now. Life didn’t pan out for me to have kids who ride so once I get my kids grown and out of the house, I’ll be back.

Congrats on coming back and the new bike. I love love LOVE 250 two strokes!

Ha! No kidding 42 is not old. I'd give my left nut to be that age---True Story! 😃

By the way, congrats on the two bikes and enjoy riding with your son. That will be probably some of the best times you two will have together.

Post some pics and awesome shop you have there.

Having had some stints away from the sport(im 40 now), then always coming back, my biggest suggestion is dont try to be who you used to be right away. Dont get pissed when joe blow that you used to smoke blows by you like youre stuck in 1st. Ease back into it, and have fun.

Nice ! I like the red and white that looks clean.  Congrats to you and your son, I bet he's happy with your decision 🙂 Welcome back.

42 is oldtimer territory by the way..... lol.  Pretty fun group to race with if there's any local chapters in your area. Have fun !

Awesome! I just got back into it at 43; 16 years off. 1st race last weekend and didn't finish last 😀

Had the kids riding / racing for the last few years and couldn't stand watching them have all the fun. Enjoy!!!

Thanks fellas!

Today was supposed to be first day back at the track. The track canceled it due to standing water. Oh well, I guess it stays spotless one more week. 🤣

I took pretty much exactly 9 years off as well. Got a bike again at 43. Only took 2-3 rides to feel pretty comfortable again.  2-3 months to feel mostly like my old self.  Minus a little speed and willingness to take chances.  Enjoy!  Take it easy.  It will come back pretty quickly.  First day is the weirdest.

Ohhh heck yeah. Congrats! I took a 10 year break & came back at 36. Bought a YZ125. We’re on the same path! Let me know how it feels. There’s nothing like it.

That was in 2021. Fast forward to 2026, I have a 17 month old & am questioning whether I still ride.

Have fun out there!
