How about we have a weight loss get in shape for moto 2026 contest

1/9/2026 12:13pm

I can happily pipe in and report that I finally set new weight PR's the last 2 days after the 4 week detour that slapped me in the face.

I had set a goal weight back in Oct '24 that I really wanted to hit. Never expected to actually get there. Well SOB, now Ive got a 7 day average weight just under my "goal" weight and it feels like intensity just got leveled up. Im not as lean as I expected I would be at my "goal" but with the habits and determination Ive formed over the last year+, why stop now. InBody still suggests I drop 20lbs. That puts me straight up into Highschool zone. I quit drinking 3 years ago, I know way the heck more about nutrition than Ive ever imagined and have the resources around to do it.

It would be strange to not have weight be an excuse this summer when I get my ass kicked by the rest of the senior and super senior riders. Good thing I kept my OEM springs.

No bread, no pasta, no beer since Jan 1. In the gym every night and forcing myself out of my desk for a walk around the plant 3-5 times daily. Down 20 pounds this morning. January 1 I was 312, January 22 I am 292. I am racing my dirt bike with my kids this year. Goal is 250 or less by June, I am 6'1". I am living in a calorie deficit with a ton of exercise and committed to 16:8 fasting for anyone interested

A little back story, Ive always struggled with weight, admittedly its more about self control. 15 years ago, something changed and I had enough, I put my head down and did the work. Lost 90 pounds in a matter of 8 months, and felt better than I ever did in my whole life. A few years after that, between career, marriage to a fantastic woman, and kids, things started to slide downhill. Im ready to get back to that life, this is the end of it for me.

I started this and got going pretty good.  Lost 6-8 pounds then decided to get drunk, watch football and eat fried chicken more days than I should have.  Gained it all back and then some.  Texans lost in the playoffs to boot.  Started back yesterday eating right.  Also yesterday my knee doctor told me I have another tear in my meniscus, this time he thinks it’s back of my meniscus.  Waiting on MRI place to call me today and set an appointment to scan my left knee.

I think I’ll fast today, 24 hour.  Eat low carb, low cal tonight.  Headed to the gym sore knee and all today too.

209 on Nov 29 to 195 today. Down 14lb, clothes fitting a little looser, might be able to get back into medium t-shirts soon. Still just doing intermittent fasting (16:8 plan, between noon and 8pm). Usually just lunch and dinner, minimal snacking if any. I could be a lot more strict with what I eat and ramping up exercise and drop more weight quicker but I'll take what I'm getting for now.

Been sick for almost 2 weeks now, but still going strong. More of a mild sinus cold so I didnt get any magically "cant eat" or the shits for weight loss. Ive got a birthday this weekend and I told the fam I either want to go destroy some good pizza or hit a sushi place. Fam seems to want sushi so thats like a double bonus. If I can pound a ton of Sashimi and Nigiri, that will be getting two birds stoned at once.

Got a Banquet coming up. Just thinking how I could very well be over 40lbs lighter than my last race. That will be sweet

Lets put the jumper cables back on this thread guys, anyone still hanging in there? Clocked in at 188.5lb this morning, 20.5lb down since November 2025. Plateauing a bit but again, not really doing anything other than the intermittent fasting plan I've been sticking with. Get back on the wagon, or stay on it guys!

I fell off, but am back on for the last 2 wks or so. Have a new plan to help. Changing my money carrying habits to make spending/ grabbing on the road snacks/stops all but impossible. I have a long commute and pit stops to and from work have become the main issue I need to combat: so I have a strategy to destroy that. It’s been working so far. New routine just have to remember to lay out my money and fill up the car with gas in a way to keep this locked in.

It’s so dumb , but it’s been what I’m struggling the most with so it is, what it is to get it fixed.

Im still kicking ass. Just resprung my bike. My journey started well before this challenge but Im dealing with a couple realities I didnt expect.

1. Im way fatter than I thought. When I hit my "goal" weight, I expected to be far leaner. Knowing that I still have work ahead, I set another goal weight and hit that. At least this time Im much closer to what I imagined the first goal looking like. Its still the worst of spring here so Ive hardly even done any outdoor activities yet. Im going to set another goal and keep plugging along. Leading me down this road of not actually having a defined goal, but a state of condition.

2. the intersection of weight loss and performance goals. Its been one thing to sustain a caloric deficit while dinking around the gym and spin bike in the basement. Transitioning from Bro bodybuilding cutting information on youtube back to endurance fit influencer and nutrition info on the youtubes. "Fueling the activity" seems to be the common take away and I have certainly found that helpful. If I train hard and dont fuel it, my hunger rages out of control later in the day playing catch up. If I fuel the workout, Im sitting there scared at my caloric intake being so high at that point in the day, but then find myself able to cruise the rest of the day on plan and finish on target.

Even if I do hit a goal, what am I supposed to do? Give up and eat pizza 3x a week like before? No. Wife asks me my goal as if the weight on the scale one morning means its over and I can give up. Ive watched my Dad retire from work and just completely fall apart from his 10 year celebration lap. As long as I intend on being alive next week, I cant give up.

I don’t really have a set in stone plan but I have been steadily losing weight.  2 or 3 years ago I was my heaviest at 224 pounds.  I bought a YZ125 and love the hell out of it.  I always rooted for the underdog so I think that is extra motivation for me to be better in my 40+ races against more powerful bikes, which means getting in better shape.

I have lost about 14 pounds over the last several months.  Some of it is rower and bicycle workouts, but just avoiding all sugar and eating healthier might be the most important.  Even when I couldn’t workout for 3 weeks due to injuries from an mx wreck, yogurt with granola and fruit for breakfast and salads for lunch kept me losing about 1 pound per week.

Now at 200 pounds and looking forward to see what 195 or less feels like again!

I started out at 278 lbs in December of 24. With a back giving me trouble I knew weight loss would help. I’m currently at 225 and dropping.

Great job guys.  Few pointers, Don’t eat because it’s breakfast time, lunch time or dinner time.  Your body will tell you and when it does only eat a very modest amount if your your body has fuel/fat to feed off of.  The food is to keep your metabolism running.  If your are over weight, a little bit of protein say 1/2 a chicken breast, a small amount of simple carbs, make a cup with you palm and whatever fits in there is all you can have and then fill your plate with veggies. After a work out, protein only within 30 mins. Modest amount. Numbers are hard b/c humans are too different size, weight, metabolism, excercise exertion, etc etc. Last don’t make extreme life changes all in one shot as it never lasts. Baby steps and always try to improve within comfort.  One cheat meal a week is ok as long as it’s in moderation. Cheat meal doesn’t mean a whole pizza and beer but maybe a couple slices and A beer. intermittent fasting is good if you can control not gorging yourself in the “feed window”. keep it up and good luck.

I’m not proud but I didn’t do well in my weight for moto contest.  I started out pretty good, lost a few pounds then things went sideways.  I’ve gained not lost.  My left knee got much worse, had to slow down at the gym and haven’t ridden much.  Knee surgery next week for another torn meniscus.

Wife had hernia surgery that went bad, incision did not close due to blood flow issues, that’s what doctor said.  I think they took the stitches out too soon.  They took the stitches out, next day part of the wound opened up and I thought her guts were going to fall out.  I’ve been stuck at home taking care of her.   She’s on a wound vac. machine.  I hope we can get her healed up and off this wound vac machine in another week or so.  She’s had a hard time.  The stitches on the inside toward her rib cage held.  The lower ones on the outside didn’t.  She had a bad hernia that had to get fixed.

I’m about 220, probably about where I started out.  Doctor says knee surgery will only keep me out of the gym for a week and off the track for a month.  Last time it was six months but knee was much worse too.

Shit happens and ya deal with it.

I will jump into this.  Lost 30 some lbs and slowly creeping back up by gaining 12 lbs back.  Crossfit 4 days a week. Walk 3+ miles a day 5 days a week. Had Cyber Knife treatment   prostrate cancer last September and everything thing is great.  Knee replacement is in my future.  Will be 67 this September.  A good way to get back on track. Starting weight 224.9

Been riding the indoor trainer 3-5x a week. Haven’t lost weight but haven’t gained any over winter so that’s a plus as the last 4 years or so gained about 5-7 lbs over winter and over summer only lost a pound or two so it’s been adding up. Would like to lose around 5-10 so feel I can do that by keeping this up through spring and then summer should take care of itself

So far I haven’t and won’t hit a single one of my strength goals but I’ve been lifting consistently with a lot of zone 2 cardio and occasionally run as well

Just to check in, I was the one who was criticized for taking drastic actions and dropping weight rapidly (30-40 lbs in the first couple months) starting back on February 10, 2025. And I don't take offense to that criticism, as it is not bad advice to make small changes that will last a lifetime vs. unsustainable changes very quickly. Anyways, I just wanted to report that I've been able to maintain 167-168 lbs. through the winter and continue to stay on my 3-4x per week cardio and light strength training regiment. Now that I'm back to riding, I will be able to reduce the boring exercise bike cardio sessions and replace with ride sessions! I have incorporated mobility exercises/stretches into my routine, which have seemed to help with balance and joint pain. I'll be 47 on April 3rd, and I can't remember the last time I felt this good with this much energy. Sorry, I don't mean to brag or whatever, but I just hope it will maybe motivate someone to do the same thing...it is so worth it to feel this good. Quality of life is dramatically improved when you actually have energy and motivation to do the things you want to do.

Good job to all that are losing the lbs!. I have been watching myself closer since this thread popped up and am happy to report I have officially punched new belt holes in my belts lol. In all seriousness, I have gone from 225 to 190 since my first comment in this thread, which I am pretty stoked on as I honestly feel like I haven't forced myself to do anything drastic, just small things like "one less burger", or "might as well walk" type stuff.

Funny story though. My brother is getting married this summer and I had to get a suit fitted. I went in, measured, and ordered the suit. About a month later I picked it up and I am ~ 1inch smaller in the waist than when the tailor initially measured me. I was joking with my bro that I am going to have to hang out with all the bridesmaids so we can all fit in the clothes we bought. They are probably trying to shed the weight to fit into "that dress", while I need to pack it on to fit in my pants now. I figured it would make sense if I just hung with the Bride party and ate all of their food so we are all in a win-win situation...

I weighed 217 and change this morning.  Weighed less than I thought but still about where I started.  Once I get through this knee surgery next week.  I’m going to hit the gym hard and eat what I’m supposed to for weight loss.  Id guess 10 or 15 pounds is about what I need to loose.

I started at 196 a couple weeks ago and down to 182 today. I've had trouble swallowing for a long time , was scoped 2 years ago and diagnosed with EOE, allergic reaction to food and my immune system is attacking my esophagus. Didn't really follow through with anything, and in Jan I got food stuck for 8 hours in my lower esophagus, it was awful. Got scoped again and this time they used a balloon to stretch out a ring of damaged scar tissue. Currently on a 6 food elimination diet for 6 weeks and will then add one food per week until something causes an issue. No wheat, soy, dairy, fish, nuts, or eggs. Cutting out ice cream and bread is probably where most of the weight loss has come from. I'm eating lots of veggies with chicken or beef, probably a pretty good diet actually.

I'm down to 252 from 274. Down one shirt and pant size. I'm on a glp1, low dose to manage my type 2 diabetes. My kidneys were showing some early symptoms of kidney disease so the glp1 should help save them. I'm back to the gym, not killing myself there but staying steady. Riding once a week, going to try throw in a couple more days a month.

I went from 500 pounds to 250 and have kept it off for a few years which is pretty rare according to my doctor (most guys my size never lose the weight or keep it off). I’m 6’3 and am trying to finally get down to 210-220 by summer.

My 2nd post here.

Occasionally I'll yoyo, but I keep it with in 5lbs.

1. Carnivore is the best diet to loose weight.

2. Fasting is a super beneficial addition to the carnivore diet.

My work outs are light....mostly light cardio with minimal strength training due to joint issues.

So, you can loose weight quickly without crazy hard work outs if you can manage food intake.

I just finished a 52 hr fast, only water and tea....felt perfectly fine after.

Now I'm on 1 meal a day until I get back to my target weight...figure 5 to 10 days max.
