Here is my guess at what MIGHT have happened.
Kyle rode for Pipes Motorsports Group for the WSX series in 250 class. WSX pays the teams , NOT the riders. So it is Pipes responsibility to dole out prize money that they got from WSX.
I bet there was some sort of disagreement between Kyle and PMG about what his share should be.

Finished 6th amongst the fastest supercrossers in the world? What a hack. People shit talk Vince constantly yet he has made a living at the highest levels of supercross for more than a decade. I guess he would be less hated if he just pulled over when somebody came up behind him. I always assumed the point of racing was not doing that.
Michael Hicks would be an interesting guy to join a team like that, he is capable of making 450 mains and is talented as they come
You not only missed the most important part of that 6th place finish sentence ((once)), but you also missed the entire point of my post...He had his shot on a good bike when he was in his "prime" and only managed a career high 6th place once, how would getting on a HEP bike at 35/36 years old suddenly make him a top 10 guy?
The man has been top ten in 450 and 250 SX, as well as an outdoor moto or two I believe. No I do not think a HEP ride makes him top ten at the tail end of his career, not likely, but if he got lucky he has the skills. My point is he has had a carèer many would love to have.

Ummmm, he just finished 13th on his Kawasaki, which was first on a KX ahead of Factory Kawasaki Marchbanks, and way ahead of CN45 on his RM. So there's that.....
