I'll start:
* 2001 125 MX. (Langston and Brown went into the final race separated by a couple points).
* 2022 450 MX. (Eli and Sexton fought hammer & tong for the last half of the series. Final race, 1 measly point separated them).
* The year that Pastrana won the 125 MX title from Roncada (2000 perhaps?).
* When Trey Canard caught fire midway through the season and climbed out of a points deficit to take the title from Poorcel...
What are your most thrilling memories?
2022 Eli vs Chase was the first one that came to mind. Was back and forth till the end.
2021 when Ferrandis won. I don’t really recall if it was a nail biter but I thought that was an awesome season.
El chupacabra era was super entertaining.
It's hard to not say 2022. A two man battle througout the whole season and a decider at the last moto was insanely fun to watch.
2014 when everyone thought Dungey would dominate with RV being gone and then Kenny surprisingly with the upset.
Some 250 seasons that I really enjoyed were 2012 with a crazy stacked field and a lot of future 450 winners.
Also 2019 with Ferrandis and AC having some great battles.
Yes, when Barcia, Tomac, Roczen, Baggett and Moosecan were all going at it in 2012, that was a super exciting series.
2009 Dungey vs Pourcel. A lot of back and forth points changes. Sprinkle in Rattray, Canard, Wharton, Rookie Barcia, Metcalfe Weimer. 5 different overall winners on the season.
Best race from that season.

2011 RV vs Dunge vs Reed
Any and all of them that go down to the last round; better yet, the final motos. 96’ comes to mind as one not mentioned yet between Fro and MC, the 500cc class in 1977 between Smith and Hannah, 82’ dog fight between Hansen/Glover/Johnson, even the 07’ 450 title where Langston took on all the Americans (when peak/gnarly Glen Helen was still on the schedule)…
It's a shame 2022 got bogged down by the MavTV debacle. It was crazy watching Tomac and Sexton push eachother to higher and higher levels.
It depends on what class we are talking about. In 2001, that was the best 125/250 season I think we've seen. It was a raw battle each and every weekend between Langston, Brown and Pastrana. Ward and Fonseca were also strong at the beginning of the season, but faded the second half of the year. Pastrana dominated on some of the East Coast rounds (Southwick, Red Bud). Of course, Brown won it due to Langston's exploding wheel. 2012 was another great one with it coming down to Barcia, Baggett, Tomac and a young Roczen. Baggett came out on top by a few points. As far as 450s go, it's a tough one between 2007 and 2022. I'd probably go with 2022 with Tomac dueling with Sexton for the title. The title coming down to Pala was something to watch for sure!
Year of the Chadapult?
Brownie, GL and Rynos 125 season in 03?
The year K-dub showed back up and put it to Ricky a bit.
most definitely my pick as well 👌🏾& 250s was off the chain tht season too with the PC trio of deano , el chupacabra & tyla rattray just being ahead of the field
Almost forgot, 2007 250’s were outstanding to watch: Villo vs. Townley duking it out almost every weekend was something to see. Two distinctly different styles, attitudes, and experiences. Right in the heart of the Golden Years of Pro Circuit Kawi as well…
Spring, it’s not too hot not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.
If we're counting series outside of America, 2021 MXGP was the best motocross series of all time
You all should have been around in the ‘70’s .
2005 mx lites class was awesome when James moved up and the class was wide open. Brown, Langston, Alessi, Hepler, Short, Tedesco, Josh grant, some JLaw and RV debuts. Ryan Mills won a moto.
2006 mx lites class was awesome too with RVs first title. 07 with RV and Townley battling it out was awesome too
Details?
1982 Johnson broke his wheel. Lost 250 national championship to Donny Hansen. Repeated almost 20 years later (Grant Langston explodes wheel), hands 125cc National Championship to Brownie. 1977 Broc Glover tied with Danny Laporte for 125cc National Championship. HANNAH leading final race and sign from his mechanic Keith McCarty to let “Broc bye”. Hannah slows down let’s Broc bye in last lap. Broc wins 1977 125cc national championship ( although tied in points), over Danny Laporte.
Pit Row
RC's first perfect season. The racing was whatever, but the tension of knowing any little thing could end something epic was as memorable as anything to me.
1989 125 National Series. Kiedrowski over Bradshaw by 3 points.
96 is a good one in the 250 class
Reed always copped flack for not being a great outdoor rider, but the main issue was he was racing RC and Stew..
In 2011 he had both Ryan’s handled in their prime until the Chadapault.. was a bummer that he never recovered from that.
Herlings broke his shoulderblade in Oss, with Monticelli jumping on him on lap 1. He still won that moto but was out for moto 2 and Loket. Febvre and Gajser put on a clinic the remaining races. Herlings came back, I think at Lommel, and started chipping away the points lead race by race. Then it came to a triple header at Arco di Trento and two races at Mantova. Some insane moto's, Herlings crashed out at one of the Arco di Trento races due to a startcrash. Final races it was a championship on the line for Gajser, Febvre and Herlings. Gajser had a few misfortunes, so final moto it was between Febvre and Herlings. Herlings won that moto and was the world champion
Thanks for the replay.
A nail biter!
Epic
2022 always comes to my mind since it was such a close battle. It’s what I want from racing. Chase and Eli made it an awesome season !
Any season which included Doug Henry and John Dowd, so basically 1990 to 2000. They flew the flag for the Northeast and did a fantastic job of representing. Many here are still very proud of them.
94 &95 probably the most exciting 2 yrs of racing . The 95 Fox videos were of the 94 season . So many riders letting it hang out & having battles. Doug was always in the high lights , 100% every where.
From the ones I've been able to watch 2022 would probably be the most thrilling. Down to the wire, two amazing riders both of whom I rooted for. I was sure Chase would dominate 2023 but I don't think anyone was ready for just how much better Jett was going to be
2011 both classes. Epic Dungeon/RV battle that year. Both classes went down to the last round.
94-95
Loved 2006 with RC and Stew.
2007 RV and Townley
2010 Canard and Pourcel
2000-2001 125 class.
76-77 with Smitty and Hannah
