same with the Shimoda incident...why do they put the mechanics in areas where the racing line takes the riders right up against them. They could have easily flipped them to the other side of the track and the riders would have been far away from them. It ain't hard.

In Houston the track crew would have had about 10 seconds to move the dividers and 22 mechanics across a live track. I don't think that's the solution.

As someone else mentioned, just drop a few tough blocks on the track side of the dividers to create a buffer.

Simple fix let them go by once then move them over. Gives you 45sec to a minute to get across. Ain’t no Ned for holding a pit board out 10 sec into a race.

You also don't want the "mechanics area" to situate all the mechanics with their backs to the racing, could be very dangerous.

?? They would know on press day what the line is going to be...so you adjust it for Sat night BEFORE anyone even hits the track.

So to be clear you want to put the barriers and mechanics and pit carts and stuff on the start straight before the gate drops?

What if there is a pile up in one of the first couple of corners? It takes a while to get going and the leaders will be back around in 48 seconds. Not to mention, the mechanic's wouldn't have access to their pit carts if needed without having to re-cross the hot track. I presume they would leave their spares at the gate.

This penalty should be revised in the future and should be a points penalty against the rider. Fining a mechanic is dumb. Esp if it’s a privateer guy who isn’t making any money.

Can someone explain to me why there isn't radio communication between the rider/mechanic?  I mean an answer that makes sense.

Not a Deegan fan at all but I just can't see a mechanic doing that on purpose. It looks pretty hectic in the mechanics area at the start and first 2-3 laps.

If physical contact, I agree but for a different reason. A fine can be picked up by the mechanic and paid for by the factory rider.  If there was a point or position penalty against the rider the team wouldn't dare touch another rider, with pitboard or anything. Make Penalties Meaningful Again.

Because it is not needed.

Does that make sense?

A big ass wall jump into a water hole just before the mechanics area. Or something to slow them down.... As mentioned, some of the riders were jumping over the last tough block and landing super close to the mechanics area wall.

Well, if getting the mechanics away from the track and replacing the blue flags with a voice that says, "get out of the way" then no.🙃

Track limits schmack limits every other mechanic managed to avoid smashing a riders hand...but Duffe manages to do it....again.

Maybe if he opened his eyes and took his head out of his ass a third time can be avoided.

Grown-ass man cheerleading his child rider. It's one thing to support your rider, it's another to join in on the antics. Just happens to be the shit-talking mechanic is the one who hit another rider, must be a total coincidence.

He didn’t hit Jo last year.

The rider (Shive) Duffe hit had no problem with it. He was a lapper and trying to give haiden room it sounds like.

Why don’t you actually learn what happened before you sound like an idiot.

And I’m not a fan of Haiden.

Sorry if mentioned, but why don't they put the mechanics area on the INSIDE of a corner instead of the outside of an exit? Law of inertia at work there...

I still don't get it. Every weekend the gate drops and they drag out the barriers across the start for the mechanics to stand. In my suggestion, they would simply drag them an extra 30 feet so they were on the other side of the track where the riders were going AWAY from them, thereby eliminating this risk. I'm not suggesting that they make the decision to move the barriers mid-race.
