Hope he’s ok, hate to see anyone take a hard hit like that.

Props to all who stopped to help

Waiting for updates, but this thread went way off the rails.

Some of you guys are pretty fucked up, this isn’t the time or place…

Hopefully he’s not hurt. I read somewhere (forgot where) that he was hoping Triumph would let him race the 450 for the whole season, but with this being the last year of his deal, maybe he should get back on the 250 to try and secure a deal for next year. Or maybe a ride like ClubMx or BarX if he continues racing next year?

What the fuck is going on with the track/medical crew this year? They have been horrible, and it's a serious concern how incompetent they are when a rider is down. The amount of time it took for anyone to go over and check on Barcia when he was out is insane. And now, 3 riders stopped to help Forkner show that these guys are idiots and are not paying attention, or are unaware of their job duties.

There is no defending how shitty they have been this season, and in the midst of a lawsuit, you'd think they'd be improving, not declining.

Perhaps since it’s not race day and only press day with no pressures or sense of urgency,  the next few riders coming through after Austin’s crash stopped to help him immediately and before the track/medical crew responded, which doesn’t necessarily mean it was a slow response by the medics.

This is a really bizarre thread…

When riders are on track, there should always be a sense of urgency when it comes to safety. But with that said You make a valid point regarding this situation. I still stand by the response time to Barcias crash, so I have the medics under a microscope this season. I hope it improves and was a one-off thing.

Edit - this was not meant to be a directed towards Austin. He’s shown his love and desire to win, I was generalizing what some of these riders face.

I am not saying there wasn’t a sense of urgency from the medics, what I am saying is that other riders are most often and can be first on the scene.  To break it down for you, let’s say Kenny was behind AF, saw him go OTB and stopped to help. Trackcrew/medics are watching the whole track and respond when notification is given or by chance they saw or were near by when AF crashed.

Every time I hit the deck another rider is always the first one to me and I reciprocate when it’s not me.

I hope Austin recovers soon.
One thing that strikes me is the delay of the track marshals and medical team. I've worked in MotoGP, the bike and rider hadn't even stopped flipping, and we were already there with them. I don't know the protocols they use, but what happened to Barcia was outrageous.

It was press day man way less riders so obviously less track workers. No doubt they need to be better but in this particular incident they did nothing wrong.

They are all bizarre threads lately, this place is getting harder to bother with. I used to come here because it was honestly a better source than any for news, plenty of insiders that posted here, lots of good racing/rider discussions.  The content from Vital members was always good, and banter was usually in good fun.  Nowadays it feels like we have been overrun by prepubescent tweens that have been consumed by the social media anonymous bitch and insult machine, and they actually enjoy it - how rewarding🤦‍♂️ I wish this behavior stayed with social media trash, but it clearly has seeped over here, bad.

Man there’s some weirdos on this board sometimes. Not sure why they all come out of the woodwork to bash Austin.

Yep it’s “Vitards” on full display. Amazing how heartless hiding behind a keyboard can make people.

Hope Austin is ok, dude truly has had some serious injuries in his career.

Dude, get over this. It’s press day. They didn’t stop in the middle of their race to help him.

I’m honestly very disappointed reading some of these comments. Criticize results if you want , that’s part of the sport, but mocking austin and dragging his wife and family into it crosses a line. His father is in this thread reading this. These are real people, not characters in a video game. You don’t have to be a fan, but celebrating crashes and inventing stories about someone’s family says more about you than it ever will about him. A little perspective and basic decency shouldn’t be too much to ask… even on Vital.

Austin is great. Having him racing is a plus. But he does get hurt too much. Some guys are just like that.

They cared about Austin.  I, and many others that have been injured in this sport we love, appreciate that.

This isn't a 250 or 450 thing... it's a forkner thing... some people just aren't meant to do this sport...

When you look like Austin, you can’t afford a chick that looks like his on gear guy salary.

Could be she loves him. Not all hot women are gold diggers.
