Took the day to take her down, grease everything and check all fluids. I added a stiffer shock spring I got from Craig Decker at Enzo Racing. Added a few goodies and graphics. I think it turned out great. I will be taking her to Cycle Ranch in San Antonio to shake her down next week. Be safe out there.

It's not moto, but...this helmet...

Is Hughes right? How many of us don't ride in the rain anymore? I don't, don't like the mess of cleaning up the bikes after. But this was me in the early 00's at Bremen. I remember vividly how badly I wanted to ride that day, in spite of light rain and 40 degree temps. When I rolled up that Saturday I was the only person there other than the gate lady. She said ma'am you can ride for free today, knock yourself out!

Raced Aus A grade (pro) up till 94. Was on the grid with Jeff Leisk from Jnrs to top grade Mr Mx. Back in 80-83 on the line when Glover, Smith, Bell, Staten, Sun, Gibson, LaPorte, Reid and a smattering of top euros including Rond.

Millville, Washougal and unadilla 2022. I was the guy who hit Roger de coster in the first corner 😅 Than went to redbud and Southwick in 2023. I think 15 and 16th overall and raced the next day in gopher dunes Canada and podiumed.

I know its not the question but in 1985 I made the 125 main event in Orlando Florida and the Rose bowl .I rode the YZ 125 which really sucked that year

I ran the Hangtown qualifiers in 1980 and 1981. In ‘80 I was mid pack and didn’t qualify. In ‘81 on my R&D RM125X (81 was my best year by far) I was running P2 in the qualifier and burned the water pump on the last lap. AMA pro #516. Close but no cigar. And damn, that was a LONG time ago.

84 CR500 and this was my 1st national. In 1985 I blew out my shoulder and knee so my body was all down hill after that.

Had two uncles qualify for several in late 70's- early 80's. One of them got 13th in a moto at red bud on a 500 once. To this day when he goes to a national he'll wear an event t-shirt from one of those races just to attract old timers to bullshit with. If you're at Millville this year and see a guy with an old gatorback shirt on, hit him up and he'll tell you stories for hours if you let him.

You qualified fair and square. Deserved to be there. And as you say, it was a stacked field in those days.

Depends what era and what country ;-). I did back in the ‘80’s/90’s era in England. Reflecting back I’m pretty proud of that as at the time half the national field in the UK were also GP point scorers - this was during the Dave Thorpe 3 World titles era. Got close a couple times, tried a few from 05-21. I’m not a single lap speed guy, so I always just went to have fun. Washougal 19 on a 125:

95 Kenworthy’s 250. 30-29. Damn was it hot that day!! Also made the night show for the Cleveland Supercross.
