Yeah, Soub back in the US. Very cool. Real congrats to DV and DV Jr and MotoConcept and sponsors (I can see an FMF pipe on that bike) for pulling that last minute program together.
This is going to be fun to watch. No need to go into the stupid debate about whether he's going to podium or do Top 10 or do Top trizillion, just having Cedric and his style racing an SX track on a 2-stroke is fun to watch.

Bonne chance mec!

he looked great all weekend in Bercy on the KTM 250.
i asked Paulin and Aranda if they were coming over and they both said no for 11, but never thought to ask Cedric.

Very cool. He'll gain more fans like this than he ever would by coming here and riding a four-stroke.

More press for him and for team Motoconcepts Yamaha, that's the deal.

Like in 2010 with german team Sarholz KTM in Motocross World Championship (MX1).

It would actually be more expensive because all of the existing team parts are for 4 strokes, so they basically have to create an inventory of parts just for him.

It will be interesting to see how close he can come to making a main, though.
Parts to maintain a 250 2 stroke will always be cheaper than parts for a 450 4 stroke. I'm not catching what you're throwing. They have to attain parts for all their bikes. Spare parts don't matter. They have to attain those whether they're for a 450 or 250.

No doubt he will make 1000 times more waves running the 2 stroke than the 4...

Hopefully (especialy for all the 2 smoke enthusiasts) he does allright; I know he ran well at bercy, but a serious accomplishment would be to make the majority of the mains.

Any idea how good the YZ 250 is compared to his KTM?

Frenchie was doing the team's engines last year. If he's still in the boat, he'll have a great bike.

Hope he gets lots of testing done (as much as possible) and the bike is setup perfect. Go Cedric!

Why not make it an all french affair and put Pourcel on a second yz250 for a few rounds? Wink

My point is they ALREADY have the parts for the 450s. It's not like they already have 10 top end kits in stock for a 250.

Yamaha will have boxes lying round from 05 supercross. All depends if they can use them or not.

Ebay has lots of these topends and I'm sure PC has a few of the magic pipes left. V-force reeds and some race fuel should be good to go, watch for the lead content though, I'm sure they'll be checking.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think he will have a hard time breaking into the top 10:

My thinking:
The field is probably the deepest it's been in a while. Lots of talents, this isn't Bercy.
DV found out at Bookoo that the 250 2 stroke wasn't competitive with the 450 and that was what, 5 years ago?
Meanwhile the 4-strokes have had 5 years of R&D and the 2-strokes have stagnated.
I hope he does well, but I won't hold my breath.

With french wonderkid Cédric Soubeyras !

Team Yamaha Motoconcept, 250YZ, 6 races (from Phoenix to San Diego).

Excellent news !!!
You got a point but he is a full time 250 rider and no experience in 450. The lites class is really competitive and it's tough to get a good bike.

MotoConcepts likes the challenge, the fans like the challenge and it's good marketing for MotoConcepts.

The goal isn't to be in the top 10 or being competitive in front. The goal is to try to make the mains which would be a great accomplishment.

What's that add up to, 1000 bucks? I'll chip in.
