It's funny to see someone brag that thier 450 4stroke is faster - has more power then someones 250 2stroke. They do not need to be equal to be faster but 1/2 is way too much. A 350ish to 375ish or something rule could change everything in that class. As far as the 2stroke will come back supporters I am sorry to say that the EPA will not let that happen. (Not with thier current available power numbers per cc) I would like to see the 2strokes back as well but the tree huggers will win again. The manufacters were pushed to the 4stroke by the Tree Hugger, EPA, and thier California Green Sticker changes. The entire racing side is majorly effected by what the everyday joe that doesn't even race can buy to go ride 10 times a year on public lands. This will be fun to watch though, it is just a shame that the 2stroke can't have more cc's in this battle.
Good luck

Sweet. Cant wait to see the finished project. Do you guys think cedric will be able to get enough testing in before phoenix, especially since he has been riding a ktm for a pretty long time.

does using ceramic bearings make much difference? I've got an Eric Gorr 295 kit on my rm 250, v-force/fmf fatty pipe, was thinking about getting the engine/ gearbox cryogenically treated and ISF superfinished, replacing all the bearings with ceramic ones etc
be interested to see how much difference the ceramic bearings make

I'm really looking forward to seeing cedric out there on the 2 smoker next year, I think he will make the main events and hopefully even top 6 - 10! He is a great supercross rider, hopefully more teams will follow suit if cedric can put some decent results together!
Edit: I got my facts wrong after reading some of the past posts looks like Ced will be running a YZ250 for moto concepts?!?! Good way to gain some attention DV I hope all goes well with the program....

Funny how a frame and a few components is getting me all excited! Will Motoconcepts run a two-stroke outdoors too? I love them, but I wonder if an outdoor run would make the obviously sweeter two-stroke look slow Unsure Did Yamaha have anything to do with the decision to field this bike?

Better question, is Yamaha upset with the decision to field this bike?

DV. Thanks for the update. It is always cool to see a ground up on the most interesting thing to happen to mowercross in years. Keep us in the loop.

Are you getting any help from Yamaha?

Everyone I know is following this DV12 vs Goliath story. This is especially interesting for me since I own and race(term used loosely) a couple of YZ’s myself.

As for whether they are upset. Considering the lack of any marketing or development plus raising the price of an intentionally unimproved machine vs the overly hyped revolutionary mass centralized 8 pound heavier than the 09 F, I would say the suits are not uncorking the bubbly.

I wonder if Yamaha will support this as well...I hope they don't totally dismiss the effort, I really don't want to hate them haha

I would not think they would have a 2011 two stroke intro if they did not support the smokers

Yamaha must support this. The question is how much and in what capacity? If they were against it, it wouldn't make sense for Motoconcepts to run one. If Yamaha were upset with this, a decent team wouldn't consider running one for fear of losing help from the factory. Even if the help only includes bikes/parts etc.. If The team riders have "Yamaha" logos on the gear, bikes, transporters etc, then to a certain extent they should be listening to the big dogs. One thing the big dog gets a say in would be banning a certain bike imo.

KTM, are you paying attention to this? Yamaha is going to steal some market share here.

Hey guys, it's a MotoConcepts program without any help of Yamaha. I didn't even ask them anything! Actually, I am lying... I asked Jim Perry if he had a linkage and some 22.5mm triple clamps laying around. He said, they threw away everything in 2006.

This 2 stroke project came about with Cedric asking for advice to ride in the USA at the Geneva SX and me looking into it with Mike Genova at MotoConcepts. I pulled some strings, Cedric got a little budget from Freegun Underwear, he'll stay at my house and will share my room (not my bed, I see you coming...) at the races. My dad put in some hours for free to build a competitive engine. It's a low-key, small budget, one bike program for 6 races only but again.....

IT'S A MOTOCONCEPTS-ONLY PROGRAM...

He will have 2 days to get used to the Enzo Setup before Phoenix.

It's a base setup on stock suspension. With their experience, we shouldn't be too far off...

I love the new 4strokes also, but There is so much history with the 2strokes that i think its great there will be at least one chance of hearing one screaming its balls off in sx. Cant wait, this just adds to the suspense of sx 2011 for me.

DV12, you are the man. This project is the best thing that has happened to us two stroke fans in a long time. I just hope cedric will be able to switch from his ktm to the yamaha with not problems.

Well I hope this race team has enough resources to get the job done?

Out of SX and MX what would the 2 stroke 250 be best suited to compete with the 450s?

Best news of the year so far! If he comes and does well alot of people are in trouble. They had better make very, very tractor friendly tracks to protect the cash cow. I may even drive to Phoenix for this.
don't take off work for it!

The chassis is done. We need the race engine which the final one will be tested on sunday and shipped on monday.

Here are the graphics. The cartoon theme is a print of underwear company, Freegun, which is helping out Cedric and MotoConcepts for this challenge...

Looking good. Just cant wait to see the bike lined up at the gate against a bunch of overweight fourstrokes.
