Interesting.

Any links to some info on it? I'm curious as to how dense/hard the base metal is for cylinder applications and holding up to the vibrations from the exhaust spigot (not wallowing out, etc.). Anything that helps reduce the price of precision parts in a 2T is great news - make the affordable more affordable. 👍

Here's a guy who did a 3DP exhaust, printed overseas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k57HDp7T8Bw

And if you want to do it yourself, shoot a part file to PL, Xometry, or there's several other online 3rd part service bureaus too.

In the product development world, 3DP and 3D Scanning are the 2 technologies that are moving so fast sometimes its hard to keep up lol. For example, I have a 3D Scanner that was $10k ~ 5 years ago, Scanners now for $1-2k perform better.

What's the chances they play the same commercial at A1 again this year?

Just imagine the impact if,  a year after the commercial / sound bite (that I missed entirely) Kawasaki had, say, JS come out on New 2 stroke, doing a 'demo' lap at A1!

After all of the bickering and complaining about it all, it would be quite something.

I really don't think such a thing will happen, but, it would be a Hoot if it did. 😲

Especially if they released a 125 and James rode out on a #259 bike - that would be legendary lol I can’t see that ever happening though

It would be cool for a few hundred people and the other thousands in the stands would have no clue wtf was happening. Would probably also piss off the rest of the manufacturers if feld was allowing blatant promotion of one of their competitors.

Because I live in reality?  And use thought to form opinions to think what would be likely or unlikely to happen.

Most people in here think with there emotions.

Manufacturers promote there products at the races at almost every single supercross. What thought did you use to form that opinion? Do you think all the other manufacturers are throwing a fit cause kawi does the science of supercross? Or when Yamaha drove around a yxz when they released that at every race? Or the Ktm jr supercross, other manufacturers make 50’s, why aren’t they pissed since it’s ultimately a huge advertisement for there 50. You’re not using critical thinking is your issue, you’re being a dick for no reason. And you’re wrong.

At very low volumes it makes sense but for a production run, that technology is not competitive with traditional permanent mold castings.

I look at the Kawi SOS, and KTM Jr challenge a little differently I guess.  Those are sponsored segments that aren't really promoting a product.  And in the case of KTM no other OEM in the sport makes a 50 that is comparable to theirs, but if cobra came in with a big enough check I'm sure they could run that program.  Products being promoted in the pits or stands is different to me then having a special segment in the night show.

I believe the manufacturers pay for the priviledges you mentioned.

Though I wish I could have pursued these sorts of things, it's just been something I've admired from a distance. Love to see all the new developments in material science and manufacturing techniques/processes. It's an itch I never got to scratch. 😄

Which initiative is the higher priority to Kawasaki?

Release a new 2 stroke OR having a title contender that goes to all the races and gives their best effort?

It would be nice if they could figure out wtf is wrong with their sport bikes first. Sometimes I wonder if it’s played any role in how long it’s taken them to show us these two strokes they are making.

modern day KDX = Beta 300 2T. Far better craftsmanship and auto oil injection as a bonus on my X-Trainer.

Kawasaki needs to do something soon.  Anything.  In a little over two weeks, it'll mark one year of absolute silence.

maybe Kawi and Beta should do a partnership like Yamaha & Fantic? that combine for 125s together... except they need to make them available in USA too.

Can you imagine the pitchfork mafia if they waited a whole year and they were just like oh yea it’s basically just a Beta. People would lose there god damn mind, more then they already have.

Define “soon”.  Are we talking geologic time scale here?

I really wanted a new bike this spring.  At the risk of sounding like a Vitard, I'll end up with a Bajaj 300 if nothing is announced by April.

The next time I hang out with my Kawasaki friend, I'll see if I can get him to drop any hints. It sure has been a long time since any official mention of a 2-stroke. This smells like someone in Japan isn't convinced it should be made at all.
