When I was a young kid discovering MX, I thought this dude was pretty cool…
If you’re going off of just pure coolness, it has to be Kenny Zahrt by a mile.
If he doesn’t meet the criteria, Chuck Sun, with Micky Dymond or Jim Holley in second.
RJ by a mile.

First of all, ' motocrossers' are cool. If asking personably, Broc Glover, and Mike Craig. Jeremy, fro, Dubach, and decoster too.
Not a racer, but Taka Higashino comes to my mind
On Pulp the other day, I think Steve said that he wanted to get Fro and MC in for an interview together about 5 years ago, but one of them said absolutely not. Now they seem to be pretty friendly, but I’m curious which one had disdain for the other even as recently as 5 years ago… anyone know the background to it?
Depends on the era you "grew up" in, but for me it was RJ. I will never forget getting my first RJ bad boy jersey from Torque Center when I was 14.
Second was Bradshaw- For me nothing was cooler than the Fox zebra pants...
Compare Mike Craig to a current racer? All I really know about him is that him and Christian don’t get along, but I’d like to know a more backstory on him. I know he was pro back in the day and that’s it lol
MC redefined what it meant to be cool.
Bradshaw, O-Show, RJ, Magoo were all very cool within our motocross sphere, but MC was regarded as cool across all action sports and media. He paved the way for others like TP, JS and KR.
Bob Hannah
Marty Smith
Jimmy Weinert
RJ the bad boy. Darryn Durham in modern times
It was MC. He has long disliked Fro and has been pretty open about it. The new Moto 90's movie about their rivalry will hopefully tell the behind the scenes stuff. There were some chicks involved and some hard feelings off the track as well as on.
I shocked no one has mentioned this Guy
.
It doesn't get any cooler than this
Mc.... Rj.... hannah
Christian Craig
Pit Row
As a rider, Roger D, Bayle, Lechien. As a personality, McQueen ,Mcgrath, Travis. To hang with, Holly, Cooper,Magoo.
Lol, in his onesie....
Sorry, I just don't put CC and cool in the same sentence.
Great rider though.
1000% agreed
MC is still the coolest guy in the sport. He had time to chat with me as a star struck kid that couldn't hardly spit out a sentence 30 years ago, and a handful of times since then. All timer.
Nobody epitomized and embodied coolness more so than Jeremy McGrath. Dude just had an air about him. Additionally, he was seemingly a really good guy. Was always super nice to my kids.
In my 64 years, Marty Smith just oozed cool.
Yes, plenty of other riders have had cool moments. Carla drinking a beer, James scrubbing, Emig bar scraping a berm at Manjimup, Jeremy and his nac nac, and many more.
To me KC66 embodied being a great racer and person as well.
Mike "Stingray" Craig was an East county San Diego local. He built tracks up in the hills that we all grew up riding on in the 90's. He ripped. I remember a few years after high school seeing him drive around east county trying to pick up on our girlfriends. I heard his relationship with his son wasn't the best but he obviously taught christian how to ride at an early age and that stuck with him.
Can't believe no one's mentioned Dogger.
