March banks settles it !

Garrett has secured the #2 spot on Team Kawasaki !  He also has put to bed the Tomac to Kawasaki rumor at the same time. Things are falling into place, and it’s looking likely that we will have a great upcoming season !  Let’s Go !

Mitch had to convince kawi to keep marchbanks this year to begin with and Mitch was going to pay his salary himself originally. So I doubt another pc ride would open.

Matthes said on X on Wednesday that Marchbanks was getting the second 450 spot. Obviously not official but also not cooksie...

I'm excited to see this!  The way Marchbanks has been moving through the pack on the 250s sets the stage for him on the 450, and now he has the power he needs, considering his size.

I expect him to do extremely well.  I hope this is a multi-year deal.

Problem is... can he even be top ten indoors? Kawi left themselves with lots of bad options...

Accordingly to the other thread Cooksie said it would be Tomac. I kinda wish he was right on that one, but alas the blind squirrel didn't find a nut this time.

I like this move a lot. I don't think another year or two on 250s would have gotten him more bargaining power for a better ride than this, just a bunch of crappy starts that he would have  had to work up from. At least now he can set his mind on being a full time 450 guy.

Inexpensive seat filler until someone better becomes available.  He’s been around long enough that he might be a good test rider to help Chase.

What makes you think that'll transition to him being on a 450? He raced multiple seasons on a 450, had good results, but in a depleted 450 class in 23.

He's a different rider these days.  He's very focused, and working with Broc Tickle has helped him refine flaws in his technique he wasn't even aware of.  He seems to be taking Broc's mentoring like a sponge.

Because of his bad starts on the 250, at least partially because he's 189 lbs, he's in the habit of passing riders, regardless of their status.  We all know that some riders are fast when they get out front, but have a hard time passing.  Garrett is in the habit of passing, and has a lot of recent practice.

And he did this on a 250 at 189 lbs.

The 450 class is a slightly faster pace, but he now has extra HP to move his 189 lbs self.  If he approaches the 450 with the same mindset as his last season, he could be the breakout rider to watch in 2026.

From his interviews, you can see that he's all in, humble, learning a lot from Tickle, loving life, and appreciating every second of it.  The look on his face when he got an outdoor podium this year says it all.

That is why I think it'll transfer to the 450s.

I think Marchbanks is a way better choice than Macadoo. Macadoo’s fast but hasn’t competed in both series (SX MX) since…

There’s just not a lot of 450 riders out there. The pace in 450s atm is quasar+ 😥

Kawie has a habit of that. Remember Jake Weimer?

I believe Marchbanks can run 5th-8th consistently on a 450 considering the current competition. If he continues to work hard, maybe he will battle with Hampshire, Cooper and possibly 4th-6th?? He will most definitely be better than Kawasaki's #1 guy Prado last year, and for a lot less money!

Marchbanks has already raced 450 outdoors and had some good results. Also had some bad ones. Assuming he’s got the 2nd ride, I think he’ll do well on a factory supported team. Chase as a teammate will push him to be better, too.

I think he's made huge strides since he started working with Tickle.

If nothing else I'm happy to continue to see new blood in the 450 class.

Marchbanks will be very good. Think his size derailed his career on 250s imo. Those bigger dudes really seem to be at a disadvantage. Look at drew Adam’s.

Weimer won races, and a 2010 250 sx title.

Consistently?  Nothing against Marchbanks, but that seems like a tough task.

He needs to finish ahead of 5 of these guys to get 8th place:

Jett Lawrence

Hunter Lawrence

Chase Sexton

Eli Tomac

Cooper Webb

Ken Roczen

Justin Cooper

Jason Anderson

RJ Hampshire

Aaron Plessinger

Justin Barcia

Malcolm Stewart
