USA with 22 points still loses to Australia's 19.

You'd have to beat Jett and Hunter to win. Sexton has done it a handful of times in dozens of attempts.

Deegan would have needed a 7th, along with RJ or Sexton's hypothetical 2 - 4.

No matter who Team USA sent, Webster would have to DNF to give them the hollow victory.

Have you seen Deegan race? He would have a chance of winning a moto outright. On a 250.

I was hoping to see him vs The Lawrence brothers.

Sucks we'll no longer get to see Chase race this event in his prime.

It would not surprise if Deegan won a moto.

There are a lot of skilled racers out there from different countries.

Farbve did pretty good riding Prados machine!

Didnt he finish #4?

That’s not exactly true. He beat Hunter a lot. Chase for sure does better than RJ.  Deegan healthy beats JCoop. It was definitely do-able.

I wouldn't say a lot, Tomac beat Hunter in 7 motos, Hunter beat Tomac in 15 motos this year

As I said before, RJ‘s seventh contributed to our second place. He did his part to get our best result possible.  There was no scenario today where anyone was going to beat team Australia. It just wasn’t going to happen. Now IF we had the team of Tomac, Deegan, Sexton we MIGHT have had a different result, but that is not the team we had this year.

Belgium are going to be a force to be reckoned with for some time to come. They experienced some typical MXdN bad luck but will be the better for it. There was hardly any Everts talk, he was quietly very good.

I agree. I believe in a couple years they will be the team to beat. They are incredibly young and minus a couple issues today they’d have been right there.

Chase in MXGP 2-2. Eli in Open 2-3. Then Deegan just needs 9th.

I guess you’re right. If our guys beat all the other guys, they would win for sure.

No 250 rider was going to win a race on that track. There were multiple occasions when you could see 250 guys like de Wolf, Sasha and JCoop struggling to get around lower ranked’ 450 riders, but just being outgunned.

As I posted in a different thread, this race is about the baddest of the badasses coming together on one Sunday to see who’s the Man… forget the points, it’s about who takes the checkered flags. Today, Hunter Lawrence beat the world’s best. End of story.

I know what you mean, and I agree that Hunter was the man, but the MXoN tells so many stories, that’s what makes it so special. At least for me, the MXoN is definitely not only about the rider who ends up on the very top. Just as an example, Pancar, a true privateer, finished in fucking 3rd place. It was the moto of his life, securing Slovenia’s best MXoN score ever. Don’t you think that’s worth mentioning as part of the story too?

It’s just a different story. He’s one of many badasses, and he probably had a personal best day, but he’s not the Man.

Let’s not joke with ourselves here, none of those guys, while they’re very skilled, are twisting the throttle as much as Danger.

Sure they’re going fast, but Danger keeps it pinned the majority of the moto, tired or not, and we would’ve won today.

Even with having a handicap (RJ), Danger would’ve led us to victory.

How do you smash into a damn TV booth. Unreal.🤯

Every year you talk about Deegan winning - haven't seen it yet.  First he has to turn up and then, do you really think he is better than Jett and/or Hunter on 250.  Put your drink down.

The only reason RJ was there is because the best options were both injured. Him and JCoop were "the best of the rest" as it were. If it's the same next year, send him again. You send the best you have and that's what was done. We got 2nd. It could have been a lot worse

Slovenia 5th and Pancar 3rd is the story of the event IMO. Aus winning it again is impressive but realistically surprised no one. I’m so pleased for Tim, Jaka and Jan as that was a great performance from them all

Based on what? I've seen Deegz race in person plenty of times. This was the first time I got to see Sasha and De Wolf. They're bad mfers. Especially impressed with De Wolf. I dont think its a given by any means he handles them.

Lot of "ifs" in this thread.  One real outcome, no alternative universes.

Enjoyed the racing.  The best team won.

I think RJ was on it in the 1st moto, ya 1st crash was dumb but 2nd was Pancar break checking him. 3rd was him pushing it. I watched Pancar looking over his shoulder down the finish him the took him out. Give RJ a break he rode his ass off

He was riding great until that first crash and the wheels came off. Not like any of his crashes were wild yard sales, either. He was pushing trying to recover from his mistakes. I'm still good with him being picked for the team. He rode great all summer on the 450. Very measured and within his limits. Maybe he knew for us to have any chance of being a couple of savages like the Lawrence's he had to go hard.

Forgive my ignorance but does Webster only race in Australia? He doesn't race the GP's right? And if not, why doesn't he have a GP ride? I thought he was going to be this major weak link to his team and once I saw how good he was I knew we were in trouble. Super impressed with him

He’s probably too old for the MX2 class and probably no good 450 ride in the MXGP class would be my guess. Also add in he probably makes a good living  wing one of the best in Australia.
