Hey - if it was a AMA race - Coop all the way. But this is the MXDN and we need the best 250 rider out there (assuming his injury is good to go). Also - he has something to prove by not winning SMX, by being a dick and getting bad press and i think he will come out with fire in his eyes and ride like he wants to prove he is the shit. If he is feeling disrespected and thinks the world is against him - he will come out with fire in his eyes, blood boiling and wanting to prove he is the fastest 250 - that is someone I want on Team USA!!

People forget how damn fast coop is on a 250.
He was a consistent title threat and winner. Battled with jett and hunter and others tooth and nail. I doubt a unhealthy haiden is faster than a healthy coop. For fuck sake dude is a consistent top 6 450 guy

I remember how fast he was. But. His biggest weakness, was not being able to come through the pack. If he started up front, he could run with the best of em, but if he got a mid pack start, he was usually mid pack finish, he couldn't really move up. He is now going up against 450s on a start, so less likely to move through the pack than Deegan, assuming he is physically good to go.
So I read most of this and then had a few more beers. You guys that want coop are , for lack of a better word living in la la land. Get over yourself . Degan messed up last weekend . We all know that but he will give everything speed wise to to good .

He finished 4th overall on a 250 in the 2nd moto. I was there and it was an epic ride by him. I’ll never forget that.

Yep, 9-4 and P1 MX2. Destroyed the field. He’s better today than he was then.
His one issue is, he’s not a great passer. Although better now than he was. But he’s also a more reliable starter.
Problem with Deegan is we don’t know how his collar bone is going to be in the heat of battle. I sincerely hope he scores lower than 13, but I wouldn’t put money on it.

I’d send Coop. I just don’t see Hayden being as good as he needs to be and even if he’s not he’ll probably go anyway. He’ll be a fragile target and might ruin his season for next year.

Cooper has shown he can handle the pressure. Deegan has shown that if he is behind he over rides, or if someone messes with he he cracks. This race is a pressure cooker, Cooper will ride for the team, Deegan will ride for himself. Plus I still think those that are willing to go when its overseas should get picked 1st.

As someone whos a fan of every guy who can do this professionally even Vince friese. As someone whos gotten to hang out with the general himself and a few of those guys a few times. Has gotten to be around teams including Star.
Haidens a bad choice with a broken collar. He is not faster and if he is he is, not significantly faster than Coop especially with a fucked up shoulder. Coop battling tooth and nail with the guys battling it out for titles in the 450 class today and at the time battling with those same guys in the 250 class is fuckin hard and he's done it for YEARS. Hes battled these guys at midnight already. His not being able to come through the pack lable is misleading. He has the speed and has come throught the pack quite well. Most the times he had rough times coming through the pack was with an injury or after a real bad crash that day.
Not only that, Haiden is a target on his back rider just like Vince friese is. Think Aleesi vs Josh Grant when injured. Belive me when I tell you with a fucked up shoulder he's not pulling away from these guys at a track like ironman. Not only that these guys are gonna run it in on him, bump him, fluster him, work him over to get a reaction and throw him off his game. He can't afford to do what he did at SMX and get into a stupid battle with SX coming up unless hes going east sx. All while having an entire class of 450 and 250 world, national champions and the rest of the top 20 riders of the 450 world on the same gate.
I would be more pro haiden if this was next year and he had a awesome first year in 450mx because at least he doesn't have the handicap of being on a 250 and dealing with 450's. Thers a lot they could do to the bike to help his shoulder issue while not being at a power disadvantage vs other 450s.
I hope he does great and proves me wrong. But the odds are not in his favor. It feels like a bussines decision and not a racing decision.
Going to be hard to carry a nation on your shoulders when one has just been plated 😳
