If they plate his collarbone the D Bag could still race MXON. Chase doesn’t look good though.

The last time we’ve seen this was Mattia Guadagnini doing the exact same thing with Thibaut Benistant for the 2020 emx title.  But they were kids back then. Mattia apologized and learned since then. I know De Carli (who just signed him for the year after) wasn’t to happy about it either. You have to give Deegs the first try (off the start and 2nd or 3d corner) but everything after that was just embarrassing and classless. The worst thing about this whole thing is he has taken away his opportunity to ride for his country on hometurf. He let his nation down. Deegan just thinks about Deegan. No patriot at all (like he portrays himself)…

“He let his nation down and not a patriot.”
I get a kick out of these extreme opinions.  I’m just hoping that America’s borders are on high alert tonight due to this19 year old motocross kid letting the nation down!!!!

The best thing he could have done tonight was go out and win. He most likely wins this SMX title if Kitchen doesn’t make an overly ambitious move in St. Louis, but it is what it is. He could have made a statement that last moto and gone out saying he was the best rider this year, winning the overall, riding off with another quarter-million dollars, saying congrats to Jo and we will see you in supercross. Clearly didn’t happen.

For the past couple of years, I have really felt that he needed to be humbled and to mature a bit. Tonight, and most of this year, showed exactly how immature he is and he still has a lot of growing up to do. I get he wants to be entertaining, and his antics bring views for better or worse, but his overall lack of respect for his competition bit him in the ass these past couple of weeks. He rode like a sore loser playing games with both Kitchen and Jo instead of just focusing on his race and winning like he should have.

As a fan of racing, his first moto performance was incredible to watch. That’s the Haiden I want to see. He can still be entertaining without being a complete douche bag and disrespectful towards everyone. He needs to figure it out, because this is something that can seriously derail his career. I really like Haiden as a rider, and I am rooting for him to develop better character as a person.

To be honest, his attempts were so blatant that I wish the AMA would suspend him for the first 3 races next season.

Yall are some fuckin pussies. How bout don't have a 3 race gimmick series for big $ if you don't want shit to go down. Levi is the only reason Deegs was in the position to do shit like he did. He got taken out last week in case you forgot

Exactly. When Zach-O took out Savatgy, it was 2 turns from the finish line on the last lap, and Zach was moving forward. Deegan could have easily just made the pass, rode his race and let the chips fall where they may. Instead, he downshifted his brain into first gear while he was going 90, and not only cemented that he wasn't going to win $500k, but he also completely fucked his chances of going to des Nations.

Such a strange response... Why even defend him? Does it hurt you personally that people are calling out Deegan's absolutely abhorrent behavior?

These types of replies seem like a reflection on society as a whole these days. Everyone so attached to their "guy", their "team", etc. Oh,  you're saying my guy did something shitty? That feels bad, can't be true, I will now lash out, then retreat into my echo chamber(s) and bring more ammo to the next argument.

Already see the "Fans are so soft these days" defenses everywhere. Followed by blatant lies like racing was way more hardcore in the 80s and 90s. Even saw something like RC, Stewart, Reed all did "way worse". Nah, no one did this kind of stupid shit.

Face the facts. The guy you've emotionally invested yourself in fucked up. Own it and move on.

Just watched the reply and it was interesting after the crash Joe rides off and doesn't even look back. Shows his mentality tonight.

Wonder why Deegan didn't go for a more traditional take out, i.e. clean out the front wheel in a berm?

Nailed it.  There is a huge difference between an agressive pass moving forward and slowing down to take someone out.  The former can be forgiven nearly every time, Osborne for example.  Deegs was just showing his douche dna and I hope the AMA treats him appropriately.

The officials also need to do some explaining why Deegan was not black flagged after so many blatant attempts to take out other riders.

I have been watching pro motocross for over 50 years and this might be one of the worst displays of unprofessional, dangerous and dirty riding that I have seen.  Deegan should lose his AMA license for a full year. In spite of his talents, I am not sure why any team would want him going forward.  He reminds me of Jason Lawrence.. unbelievable talent, but his emotional intelligence is so low. Too low to be a true champion. He may have just sidelined his career.  I can't even fathom what he was thinking.. was he angry about something and having a childish melt down or did he think that was a legitimate strategy as a professional racer?  Neither makes enough sense.

Anyway, so glad Jo Shimoda won it.. couldn't have gone to a nicer guy.

$50k and 5 points is nothing to him. A suspension from the opening round of supercross might have been more appropriate.

I back this up.

I'm afraid that during a potential Jett/Haiden future rivalry, the officials might have their favorite as well.

Yeah after decades of highly paid professional athletes (in many different sporting disciplines) the governing bodies still haven’t learned that monetary fines are useless.

Hit them where it really hurts - dock race wins, significant points or championships and then watch them squirm.

Waking up this morning and watching this almost made me sick. Is this how our sport is now?

If a new fan would watch this, I'd be ashamed. I'd almost just rather skip forward and not watch it at all. And thats not a good sign for what the non-hardcore fans will do.

They won’t need to have a “favourite” - one will consistently show reason to attract penalties.

Kitchen is the villain.

Had Kitchen not crossed 2 or 3 ruts to take out Deegan, Jo wouldn't have been 10 points ahead going into the final.  It's not Jo's fault, and he admits that he was gifted the 10 point advantage.  It wasn't a racing incident, and yes, Kitchen has one coming, which he admits.

Like him or hate him, Deegan earned the red plate by his riding throughout Sx, Mx, and Smx, fair and square.  Kitchen interfered with a championship in which he wasn't a contender.  It would've been different if he was.  Most racers at least state that they're don't do this.

I don't like Deegan slowing down to try to get Shimoda to drop back a few positions, but I can understand why he felt justified.

There are no asterisks.

Congrats to Jo.

And Levi has one coming, most likely when he least expects it.

What you’re missing is that Levi took HD out because it’s HD. That’s why all the best riders quickly learn to stay out of trouble and race forwards. If you make enemies they will come back to bite you at the worst time. This was absolutely HD’s fault and Karma got him.
Not the racing I wanted to see. He needs to learn to be less of a dick. Disgusting and embarrassing display from him. Jo Shimoda deserved the win.

I don't think he should lose his license for a year but without a doubt he made a total ass of himself...

Those are the sort of rides that trash a reputation real quick and begin to overshadow even very good success. There's a fine line between coming across as a 'hardcore, anything to win, it's what winners be like' etc etc. And looking like a disgusting desperate cheat.

If the stakes are high enough and it's proceeded by an incredible comeback (Osborne 2017 etc) people can forgive a lot and overlook a questionable "pass".

There have been riders in the past that have had on paper decent success (National wins, lots of bridesmaid finishes in titles) but they tend to be remembered for the negative things surrounding them. Obviously Deegan has achieved a lot more but still... there are limits. Perhaps he doesn't give a damn about any of that but if we're honest I think most of us as normal functioning humans (if we were ever in a position to be widely remembered) would much rather be liked. Plenty of time to recover but at the very least he needs to apologise to Jo and change his ways quick.

Fook Deegan for riding like a bitch trying to take Jo out. Fook the AMA for allowing it to go on when it was blatantly obvious that Deegan was endangering other riders on the track. Fook the announcing crew for obviously enjoying the bullspit riding and chaos that was being caused and Fook MX Sports for this stupid assed format. CONGRATULATIONS JO SHIMODA! Class individual and great racer. HD should be penalized 500k for that stupidity.

Move RC as host at the same time. He lovea it a bit dirty ans greasy. Remember when Jett was in 250s he was talking about how he will get some elbow grease when moving up with a satisfied tone.

RC and Deegan would fit well with Monster Energy Monster trucks Smile
