I’m curious to see how he’ll adapt to not having so many industry resources within a few hours drive. If I didn’t do my own suspension here, I’d have to drive nearly 4 hours North to someone with a reputable name to have it done or ship it to someone I trust. It seems like in most parts of CA a quality engine or suspension shop is never super far away, but I don’t know it as well as some. Same with local dealerships, you’re lucky if they stock a front brake lever for a MX bike they sell that was made within the last 3 years.

Where do you live in Florida ? I,m guessing s of Tampa. I,m sick of wi. Weather easily the worst summer I,ve seen in 58 yrs. June was 51-62 rain & wind June 20 finally a nice day  then sat, sun 93 with 72% dew point . Then back to freezing . July 1 day of 90 wild fire smoke was worse than May, June it burnt your eyes & got Real sick. 3 injections a week I still rode I figured my body is shot anyway.  1st week of aug at night your legs freezing  g at night with shorts on .  I like the st but a 2 week summer is ridiculous.  Last 3 weeks 44-50 at night .  I don’t know what state to move to I like a few down there .  Maybe Mo. nice & muggy but Wow did they get winter storms last winter -13 & windy too, like Wi. I Really hate Green Bay though. 85 & muggy in SC . Now rescheduled ld del Mon , f ing sucks.

All kinds of tricks & things to hang to keep mosquitoes away , say you want to grill out at 17.00 .  His wife will complain about her hair if it’s thicker . Getting all proofed up & curly , simple things you do think about. I,m waiting for it to get hotter to do a pm on the trl & work on the trk .  High 90,s & extreme humidity is my by far my favorite to ride mx in.  If it gets to 73 I don’t even want to ride .  9 months of the yr it’s cold , damp& windy in Wi.  Local racing is big in Wi. & riding is cheap but 1 month of decent weather just sucks.  Local riders r doing great at LL but they live at training camps in the se for part of the yr.

I’m about an hour and a half South of Tampa, but I’ve been looking more North and Central potentially. There’s only 3 tracks semi close, and only one that I would consider a “quality” track. Not a whole lot else to do around here anymore. I sold my Skiff a few years ago because dealing with the boat ramps in the last 5 years or so has just become agonizing. I’ve been thinking about picking up an aluminum boat to use at some of the lakes around here.

What's. funny is I would have never found this place without working for a B-rider while working in central Florida. They were nice enough to invite me and I helped him until he went Pro so I know all your tracks too.

I want to go back to the time when everyone thought the south was backwards and creepy and everyone stayed away. Used to be able to hit Broadway in Nashville without much fuss or getting destroyed by hotel prices, just go listen to some country music and drink some beer. Land was cheap. Pretty simple and great...... now everyone who let their Midwest or northeast state go to hell are moving there and it's starting to get crowded. SEC schools are getting harder to get into from all the out of state applicants and after they live it up in Knoxville or Athens they're never moving back to grand rapids. I've been telling people for the past decade to buy up real estate in Birmingham. Only so many cities in the south and Nashville and Atlanta are full. Probably too late to steal anything in Huntsville but still time in Birmingham.

That being said, keefer seems cool, I guess he can come.

Yeah I wished that slow that shit down. I love my small town life here in east Alabama. I have a friend/coworker I met in central California that just moved to North Alabama.

I was trying to get a travel gig up in that area but the pay is still not great for my professional (travel nursing) but it would have kept me fairly close to home. But we headed back out west AGAIN to Oregon to work here in a couple days.

North Alabama has exploded recently. I read somewhere that it was one of the fastest growing areas in the country and lots of high paying jobs coming to that area.

Isn’t Tampa a decent location for tracks, as a base ?  I checked Fl. Tracks again a few weeks ago.  They look ok Wi. Sand tracks r much better hills, through the woods , much more corners. But I,m ok with riding any track hood or bad.   If we can get an average economy going . I,ll file for my own authority drive Oct- April spend the rest of the yr in Florida.  Building bikes, etc rent a cheap garage

Not in central Georgia.  Hell, not in south Georgia for that matter.  Hurricanes are mostly a coastal issue in the South and they dissipate pretty quickly by the time they're 75 miles inland.  We're used to them and until the media started hyping them due to "climate change" no one even made a run on toilet paper until they saw a Cat 4 or 5 coming.

gharmon, both of us are from the same neck of the woods.  You are right, we were on the ugly side of Opal and got hammered. We lost power for 3 days, and my Mom’s was out for 2 weeks.

Ft Walton was hammered worse by Ivan in 2004 than from Opal.

We got lucky as hell when Helene shifted to the east last year.  Not so much for central, south and east GA, and of course the Carolinas.

Just got back from PCB a few days ago.  Crazy how most of the remaining pine trees along 231 are bent over from Michael.  My niece rode out Michael from her place near Tyndall AFB.  She has PTSD from the experience, and says there is no way in hell that she will ever do that again!

We worked in the woods & country . Poison oak is worse there or maybe because I got if from the roots . I had to get steroid injections . Flying home my arms had big blisters .  I forgot about chiggers they dig into sweat lines like your socks . They itch like crazy locals said put clear nail polish over the raw area .

I retired and moved from Huntington Beach, Ca to Perry, Ga three years ago. I love it here. You can't beat the cost of living here. But the July/Aug humidity and gnats are no joke. The rest of the year is usually very nice. Just bought 3 acres of pasture type land with a little elevation for $28k. Not big enough for a full size track but I'm old and don't need much. What's really cool about the land location is it's outside a very small town called Unadilla. No I'm not kidding.

I was out driving around and found the Triumph Racing facility. You can't see the tracks for the trees but if you do an overhead it looks amazing. I live about 45 minutes south.

I can't fathom how bad it must be to endure the bad weather those areas have.

Where I live in lower Oz, we have some heat, and some rain, and that's basically it.

Good in ya. The progeny from that union woulda made alien earth a reality. Had some hornets cross with a mexican hawk here in Texas and those offspring where briutal. Like flying chupacabre, but uglier. One almost got my dog.

I don't think he's going to like all the no name people throwing down heaters at the local practice tracks, but I think overall he's going to be full of peace and love living on Peachtree Rd.

He’ll be fine with the no namers, they are a dime a dozen here.  I was surprised at how many blazing fast guys there are all over Ca. that don’t even care race.

Someone who still "watches the news" thinking they get accurate information about anything, including the weather. Seems impossible, but here it is.

If he moved from Hesperia to southern Georgia, he just traded one hellish summer for another.  If he’s been able to handle a lifetime of summers in Hesperia, he’ll be fine in GA.  As for the guy above that moved from Huntington Beach to GA, he must really enjoy the country life to justify leaving one of the nicest climates in the world to move to bug infested southern GA.

I ride mtb up in WNC (Pisgah, DuPont) a good bit and the remnants of Helene are everywhere. You can't appreciate the magnitude of the amount of water that ran through there until you see evidence of water 30' up on the river banks. That whole area was basically redesigned by the water flow.

I agree. Huntington Beach had the best climate all year of any place I have lived and I lived all over the country and overseas. But sadly California isn't a place I can afford on my pensions. Right next to me in Huntington Beach they sold two new houses for 1.2M each. I came here to Middle Georgia and bought a brand new house about the same size for $280K. I can deal with the bugs. And they are only a bother in the heat of the summer. The rest of the year it's pretty nice here.

HA! I am giving up the California life and moving to Minnesota in early spring. 😁

Huntsville has grown into Alabama’s largest city and will grow even more. Property isn’t near as cheap as it used to be here in the south.

Very true but several tracks for MX and RC with good dirt, and motorcycles everywhere is good for business, life is good!

Yes,not far to Sand Mountain, Dodge City, and McLarty. Just a bit farther, but we have Monster Mtn and Crossbone.

I am 10 minutes from Crossbone and 40 from Monster Mountain. Also, the offroad guys have Perry Mountain that holds the 24hr and SECCA has 4 rounds all within an hour of the house. Dirtbikes are strong in central Bama. If GNCC Talladega stays for a while that would be great too.
