Although I’ll never purchase the 1991 KX 125 I mentioned earlier in the thread,  I hope to own something similar to this in the next few years. IMG 3837 1

1983 KX-80. My first brand new bike. Purchased from Tomball Kawasaki in June 1983 with lawn mowing money. Bike was leaps and bounds better than anything else that year. Killer motor and first 80 with 10 inches of travel. Paul Dennis dominated Ponca that year on one.

1991 KX125 still holds a special place in my heart. The bike I wanted but never got.  Went a different route and think I would have been a better rider had I chose the 125 over a 1991 CR250 at that time.

I had a 91 cr250 rad valve , pipe, Noleen did a great job on the suspension.  That bike handled great , engine was great too.  I did a ton of ice riding on it . And the ski hill

A lot of super cool and unique picks in here, it’s pretty rad to see all the variety.

For me, it’s a sentimental pick: 98 KX125. This was my second bike, and the first bike I bought for myself with my own money at 15, using some funds I had saved up from summer jobs. Used of course, and a few years old at that point, but I found a great deal on one with very little use.

If it were up to me I’d still have it but I lost it in a fire a little over 10 years ago, along with our other bikes at the time. If I could only replace one it would 100% be this one.

Pretty cool . My pick was a 1980 yz 465 which I have never owned or ridden but it's an iconic bike . My sentimental pick would be an 82 kx 250 . I had one and loved that bike .

You have good taste. I have a 250 I built like this so I'd pick that. It turned out way better than it had any right to. Also a few of the other rms mentioned in this thread. Maybe I should build a 125 now ...

I'd like to get my original 125 elsinore back.

The 6th one sold in the San Diego area.

Dad had the 250, and put me on the waiting list, prepaid.

I would go for this one off bike from Stefan Everts, that his team build for the Motocross 500cc Grand Prix at Namur. It is the Factory CR250 prototype frame, that Honda used in 1998 and 1999 in the WC, with an engine that would have something between 370cc to 430cc. This bike is now in the collection of Honda USA or from Lars Lindstrom himself, I don't know for sure. It would be cool to see Jett Lawrence ride that bike for example...

A 1986 IT 200 just like I had when I was a teenager. Would be the perfect trail bike and I’d use it in vintage racing. Used my buddy’s PE 175 a few times which is pretty cool but the IT would be even better (if it’s as good as I remember it!). I’ve seen a lot of IT 175s for sale but not 200s.

I'm old...so I have a list.  I've owned or raced all of these at some point and they were all great bikes.

1973 XR75

1974 CR125

1974 Ossa Phantom (my current vintage ride)

1981 RM125

1981 RM465

1981 Maico 490

1983 CR480

1996 CR250

2004 YZ250

Those are the bikes, of the 50+ I've owned or raced, that were absolute keepers.

If I had to buy a new bike today at age 65, it would be a Stark.  No maintenance, battery lasts longer than I do, could gradually detune it as I get older, and I can't hear anyway.😂
