"Great" on a 450 is pretty rarified air that I'm not quite willing to put Deegan in just yet, but he'll definitely give the established podium guys headaches outdoors (his mouth will probably give him a few self induced headaches, too). SX is a completely different animal, though, in my opinion. I see him committing a bunch of unforced errors, a la RC's first couple of years on a 250, but he'll come around and be solid.

I meant great as in I think he will consistently be battling for podiums and wins. not necessarily that he'd be viewed as one of the greats of the sport a la RC, MC, Dungey, Villo. bad framing on my part perhaps..

No one can declare Deegan as the current 250 FMOTP because he’s avoided MXdN the last two years. Finally we get to see it this year, but the odds are stacked in his favour being on home soil and a familiar track. However that just means he’s favourite to take out the class.
Anyone already claiming him as the 250 king is getting ahead of themselves, just like the 450 talk.
Great bench racing fodder, but as yet all these claims are unsubstantiated.

Last moto of the year budds creek Deegan had a faster lap time than Hunter did on his 450 and the 250 motos went second rougher track.

Yea this is why I dont understand when the podcast guys like AC or Brayton say hes just being himself. I dont think he is. The whole thing comes across as forced. Brian even pulled dazzy to the side back in 250’s and told him theyre not serious and theyre just trying to create hype. Most ppl that actually know haiden say hes a nice kid, so idk where they think hes just being himself, but thats def not the case. Hes acting.
Then you have guys like RV and RC who say yea he talks crap but he always backs it up. Again, the only times he starts yapping is after he wins and is safe from criticism. When he had a bad start to the sx season he was “just giving it up to his competitors” and being the humble guy. Then he takes out davies and unexpectedly wins the championship and goes up on the podium and tells everyone to smd. Then the last few weeks in mx when joe is winning hes talking about how joe is riding great and he needs to be better. Then once he wins the championship and theres no more stakes on the line then he goes up on the podium and starts talking shit to everybody.
Thats not backing it up, thats talking shit after the fact. Thats called punching down. Backing it up means saying youre going to do something ahead of time and then going out and doing it. Idk how its so hard for these guys to see this stuff, but its kind of annoying. JT is the one guy Ive noticed whos actually caught on to this lately, so good on him.
