I haven’t been able to watch the first 250 moto from yesterday (Dad in the hospital).

What happened to Michael? 40-DNS

He had a great qualifying time. Picked him for fantasy team.

Hope he’s ok.

I just got home from Dilla and came on here to check if there was any info on him.  I was at the bottom of the skyshot for 250 moto 1 and saw the crash.  He got crossed up coming out of the turn leading up to skyshot and high sided.  It was honestly one of the scariest get offs I have ever seen.  He was knocked out cold and came to rest laying on his back.  Seemed like an eternity, but after a little bit he started to move and regained consciousness.  He was off to the side of the track and a flagger was positioned in front of him while he was still laying there motionless.  He eventually got up to his knees and crawled a bit farther off the track and finally Alpinestars med arrived.  They took him off the track sitting upright in the side by side with a bandage around his head...  That's all the info we have.  Was surprised nothing at all on here about it

Scary. Both Mosiman and Haarup seemed to be on the ground in pain for quite a while before someone actually got to them.

I’m sorry but that is pathetic. You have million dollar athletes out there and the guys flagging have no clue what to do as Mosiman just lies there looking like he’s struggling very bad. Good on the a stars crew for getting there but the time between them getting there and the crash is poorly managed.

IIRC, the flaggers only job is to put out the yellow flag when someone is down after their position. Their job isn’t to assist riders getting to safety.

Step up and show them how it’s done.

He's a flagger not an EMT he's doing exactly what he is supposed to do.....

That was a wheels on ground flagger and he did his job correctly.

Wheels on ground flaggers have headsets to communicate with medical (Alpinestars) as to track location of incident.  The only way medical arrives is if the wheels on ground flagger does his/her job like this one did.  There are only a few wheels on ground flaggers and that one was on scene ASAP.

That is so tough to watch,..Michael has been plagued with injuries and crashes, ...super fast rider when he is in the zone but keeps crashing out,...I hope and pray he considers all his options next season.

For being a professional sport our medic system really is a joke. They take way too long to get to people

That’s rough. Get well!

So, there was this, a broken femur, and a collarbone. Who knows what hasn’t been mentioned. Some combination of elements needs to be looked into.

Track is over a mile long with some very hilly terrain. Not sure if they had to cross the track during the moto as well?

And this is why you shouldn't take part in this sport if you're not willing to spend the money on a good helmet and then throw it in the trash and get a new one if it takes a hit like this.

Have a trained flagging staff that travels that have some basic EMT training to handle situations until the professionals arrive. Not some dude in a helmet waiving a yellow flag into oblivion.

I'm not sure what people expect. First rule of EMS is make sure scene is safe and flagger did that. How soon do you think is reasonable for medical to be at the rider's side? And how many people do you think it would take to meet that standard around the entire track? Would you rather have 5 guys that know the sport and the nuances that come with evaluating these guys on the side of the track or 10 guys when half of them might do more harm than good? Quality of care matters too. Not just a warm body there quickly to Brian Moreau someone off the track.

How much more would you be willing to pay for tickets?

Basic course, flights, hotel, food, pay, etc., for X amount of flaggers for 31 races, isn't going to pay for itself.

That video is gut wrenching man.  Watching someone writhe around like that sucks.  Poor dude.  I hope he’s alright

Damn fellas...did yall just realise this sport is dangerous?  The flaggers job is to try and keep the downed rider from getting hit and keep others from going down.

It wouldn't matter if every flagger was a trauma surgeon...if they stop flagging to help then they're both gonna get clobbered.

Truthfully,  unless you station a medic every 100 feet around the track...its about as safe as it's ever gonna get.

So the flagger stops waiving the flag to administer first aid in the situation that you describe. Can't see any problems with that approach?

Hey... I resemble that remark. Guess what the first 2 things they teach you are,

1. Don't get run over

2. Wave the flag into oblivion to prevent any more collisions

Guy seems 2 for 2 to me. 🤷‍♂️

In defense of the flagger hes most likely just some moto dad who's only payment for the job is free admission to race.

Man regardless of the medic arguments you gotta feel for Michael. He kinda reminds me of Trey. Super nice and fast but brutal crashes. Seems like every time he gets healed and back up to speed he hits the deck again. I wouldn’t blame him a bit if he decided to hang it up. Sucks

Take this down please. Please

As hard as it is to watch, it's important that we all see this and consider the truth, that our sport is dangerous, and that the faster we ride, and the more we push past our limits, the more intense the crashes.

I'm hoping and praying that he's alright.

That's hard to watch,  you hate to see someone in such distress i hope he's ok.

In regards to the flagger, he did everything right it's not his job to attend to the injured rider that's the medics  job, his job is to alert other riders of a hazard ahead and to be cautious and the red cross flag is to alert medics that they have an injured rider who needs attention. Good job flagger you did it right.
