More so than the uphill to me was the step down.  Just the way you come out of the corner jump through the trees and the bottom falls out.  Was always sick to watch.

Looks like changing it opened up a better spectating area?  Godzilla hill is the high point of the property and looks down over the whole track.   I don't think you can see much from other areas, except for at the bottom where the start is, but they aren't going to have several thousand spectators down there.

Also Euros can jump but the don't like jumps with landings; landing on flats, bumps, or upward grades are preferred for some reason.

So here is my thought.

To keep everything fair to the MXGP riders coming over for the MXDN the Ironman track layout get changed for the AMA event and then return to the original layout that will have Godzilla reinstalled.

Ernne and Matterley basin did the same if they held  a GP event the same year as a MXDN

ET didn’t have any issues with the quad at Matterly last year for MXDN and that was his first time on that track.

That's literally freakin stupid. Im about to be 40 and would still jump both. If mxon riders cant jump it, they shouldnt be racing that event. Werent supermini kids hitting it? I know quads were. Wild.

Yeah its not even the biggest jump at ironman. That tabletop in the middle is fucking huge and the quad in the back, not to mention the "triple" in the finish line section deegan hit which, according to the track map, looks like its going to be doable?

Tbh I feel like they may have removed it more because of the "blind" factor of it? I don't think it was because of the size of the jump.

Pretty sure they removed it so they could sell more VIP spots.

Clearly removed it out of respect for team Japan.

I guess they're still calling it Godzilla but no jump? As someone else said, lame.

This isn't 1996 - these days none of the top riders (or even the non top riders) have a problem with big jumps in either series.

Track looks super short.

Is Thunder Valley the only track to host MXDN that didn’t get totally ruined? Every other track was better before they hosted the event

I don't think it has anything to do with the GP's riders and their jumping abilities, looks like they shortened that section to make room for VIP's or parking or whatever they do in that field. It will be interesting to see this weekend because it looks like crap on the animated track map.

It’s as bad as it looks on the track map. What were they thinking?

Not going to lie, taking out that whole jump on the way up, and down really makes the track suffer. Poor choice whomever "made the call".  The flow is gone, the woods section is dumb with the straigt into it etc. Just a waste of space. They will figure it out again

I heard someone talking about it when I was at Red Bud but can’t remember who said it. The talk was that it was removed so that they (n sports/insport) would have more viewing area to sell the big money tickets. Go figure, huh

I was pissed in 2018 at Red Bud when they built a huge mound at the base of Laroccos Leap. The Hoff pulled a holie and proceeded to huck it on lap 1 in spite of the stupid mound of dirt lol!

This is really disheartening. I’m having 2nd thoughts on spending all this money and effort to go to MXDN now.  It’s a vet track.

After watching vohlands gopro, I could get used to the uphill jump being gone, but the jump down the hill really made it special. Now it's just... empty.

And not forgetting the dude on the 2t Fantic who sent it first lap of practice, when the US guys weren’t even doing it yet.
GP riders can’t jump, where do they come up with this shit 😂

As for Ironman, I just hope the new track races well.

Yeah I feel like that’s misplaced anger. When I was at the first RedBud MXoN, practically everyone besides the USA team was sending the leap. It’s definitely more based on logistics than anything (also why Millville doesn’t want to deal with them).

The last 125 all star race they all jumped it .  Wiatt from east side green bay had the lead until 2-3 corners from the finish .  A stupid big hump before a corner he bounced up & wide Sipes got him .  But he was faster than Sipes

Rupert posted a photo last year of AC jumping the downhill side, and the angle he was at really showed how short the run-up was for a jump that long. Jumps like that really show how impressive these guys are on dirt bikes.

Believe it or not those jumps are the most fun. Longer run ups are actually worse imo.

Quality down, prices up. How much money can we make?? Welcome to the 2020’s 😭

I bet it's more like an insurance issue than a MXGP rider thing.

Its for spectating, there's a vip zone by there.

Yup, they don’t want another one of these happening again…
