I’m pretty sure this stemmed from the most recent Blair Matthes project, I believe Steve called GL something like a “dough ball” or something to the effect saying he was stupid, but taking it this personally and posting multiple instagram stories just makes you look even worse than the guy who took the jabs, taking it on the chin and setting by example would’ve had much more class. I can sort of get where they were coming from with the Lewis stuff but in my heart I disagree, I think Lew’s interview style brings much more candid answers out of riders than we get from 90% of other media outlets, and it’s refreshing to have a unique voice engaging with the sport.
You and Weege are my favourite media dudes. You both bring humour and stay away from the drama. Plus, I'm a Herlings and Sexton fan...

I have much respect for GLs ability as a broadcaster, and Pings ability as a long form podcaster.
The part that brings them both undone is the constant political rhetorics and bashing of other people in the industry. They both come off as petulant, immature kids trapped in a middle aged man’s body.

I haven’t listened to Whiskey Throttle for maybe two years, but I listened to the recent Whiskey Throttle episode to hear what Ping and GL said about Lewis.
Their comment, calling him a 'swarmy, little pastie fuck,' was out of line.
It’s hypocritical for them to criticize someone believing they are lacking knowledge in the subject, then going and doing the same.
They got it wrong, their takes on motocross are getting extreme, they are being the squeaky wheel they despise to get attention.
They need to reflect on their approach...

Ping was unironically posting 'Qanon' stuff when it was big on 4chan, and making its way to the more retarded amongst conservative internet users.

(Fwiw, I'm not conservative, or liberal, I think both sides main agenda in every western country is to fuck over the common man every way possible, working in concert to achieve this while getting everyone to fight over trivial shit).
I think this is very very very overshadowed in the sport and most sports in general. Most of these dudes “ain’t playing school” when they’re off in college, at training facilities or grinding lower leagues. They do not get the necessary life skills to succeed outside of their sport until a much older age, when it’s much harder to develop them.
Did he really? I try not to pay attention to this kind of drama. Takes away from the sport I love so much. Ping is still doing good interviews with riders. I like the format how he goes through their race results from the beginning of their career to the end. Who could have a problem with Big Lew?! Cmon man
His rider interviews are still good. The Josh Grant one comes to mind. I dont know why he would take shots at Lewis. Because he's affiliated with Steve? Cmon Ping
This made me think - the comment about Steve being a beast on a bike. You know he rides an e-bike I assume - are his Strava rides 'beastly' compared to other e-bike riders? If so, I'm impressed. I have a hunch you might be comparing his times relative to non-e-bike riders, but not sure...
It all started after with Steve saying Hopper should not have asked Plessinger about Tomac going to KTM....he just said he should have asked Tomac who is in the press conference.
Gypsy, Ping, and GL went all crazy on social media about Steve and called him out.
Steve responded in threads here and on his shows. Steve took some shots at GL on the last Pulp show, but nothing that wasn't true.
GL was on the Whiskey show with Ping and it was hard to listen to honestly. They referenced Lewis multiple times without knowing him and acted like he just showed up out of the blue and started interviewing riders. They tried to get into the "media" being terrible etc now and how much better it used to be blah blah and GL basically used every opportunity to reference his own career and struggles.
Now GL went on what appears to be a druken rage on IG about Steve.

The funniest part about this pod was them saying people like this or that have no clue, or who the fuck is this pasty little fuck, and then demonstrating that they are indeed the people.
I agree, we are lucky to have Lewis in motocross. I lost some respect for GL and Ping.
Most riders, even current ones, seem to be impressed with his cycling ability. Steve always down plays his abilities because he can't take a compliment. I'd say he's way above average for a 50 year old.
