You almost have to consider whatever you pay hunter as being not just paying for a consistent podium guy for your second rider but also part of the formula that has made your top guy the future GOAT. Should have almost the same sense of urgency to sign him and keep the machine rolling as you have to just sign Jett.
Honda has plenty of money, they actually lend their own money through AHFC
Doesn't matter whether this particular story is true because it'll end up true one way or another. This isn't a ball sport where you have a whole payroll of athletes to balance; just throw the bag at Jett and lock him down until he shows a decline.
They have let several champs leave before.

When has Honda kept two highly paid top riders? I heard on a pod somewhere they were speculating if he stays or not. If Jett got the money I’ve heard being thrown around (15M) it’s hard to see Honda paying Hunter something in the same ball park. I’m sure he wants to stay and I’m sure Honda would love to keep him but if another team offers him 10M, does he stay with Honda?
He won't be forgotten I promise. The entire family, and HRC, have a system that works, and works very well. They both benefit from one another. HRC will NOT break this up, they have learned from the past how sour things can go when you let an elite slip away. You think it was just a mere coincidence Mr. HRC was at Redbud? Keeping an eye on his current, and future corporate expenses.......??? Promise you, he left there a very happy man. He is opening the Honda checkbook, with a very big smile on his face. Honda money is literally endless...... Betcha Lars gets a raise too.......... He damn well deserves it. Class act all around.

There were multiple rumors about Kenny getting around 12 million for his first Honda contract (I think it was 3 years?) Nothing was ever confirmed though, as always in our sport
I do think Kenny getting like 6 million for his 3 year WSX contract was insane though, specially when you think about the few races they do per year. He's definitely not retiring poor, that's for sure lol
I know I've heard the boys get a decent win bonus. Something like $100k for 450 and half that for the quarter liters. That's a really nice cherry on top for someone winning almost every race.
Seems hard to believe there's that much money in our little sport. I remember Roger telling me he was happy the riders were making good money but admitted he was a little jealous about the peanuts he made in his day.
Speaking of Roger...when should we hear something about our Nations team? Hopefully it's not delayed again.
