Good to hear things are going as well as could be expected. So bummed for her. She by far had the most potential on a bike IMHO. GWS girl.

Latest update, I think the third sentence means she was discharged from the hospital, which is very good.

Her recovery and positive attitude is amazing. Long road ahead no doubt but go KIAH!

Kiah is an absolute killer I'm so glad for her with her outcome so far.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread but on one of the Reed's videos she mentioned that the jump she crashed on was because she had forgotten where she was on the track.

Glad that she’s recovering so well!!!

What are the issues with the hardware for the spine on young kids who aren’t done growing?  Do they need to reset every few months, or how does that work?

That’s a good question.

I think they leave it in and remove the hardware or replace it only when you’re done growing. I could be wrong though, but I’ve had adult friends who’ve had spinal fusions and it’s extremely invasive

Yep when my daughter rode I always seemed to worry as she had that fearless gene, not sure where she got that from, lol. But seems cheerleading and gymnastic are the most dangerous or frequent of life changing injuries, seems soccer is next with mostly lower body injuries, ACL etc...

Doubt mainstream stats even inculde moto, or other exterme sport.  Golf and tennis seem the safestSmile

..prayers and a speedy recovery for the lil Reed

Don't remember where I found it, but I did read a medical study that said motocross had the highest rate of spinal injuries of any sport.

I don't remember where I found it, but I did read a internet study that said that forum posters with zero data to back extraordinary claims loose the most creditability out of all forum members.

I think this is the study. It says that on and off-road motor incidents are the leading cause of spinal injuries, not that motocross has the highest rate of spinal injuries. It's been a few years since I read it. I misremembered. Still, it's an alarming study.
