Deegan has the eye of the tiger that all champions must possess, and which is the main reason they are champions.  Skill, fitness, racecraft, equipment, and overall program are all contributing factors.  His fitness is strong, his skills are impressive, his equipment is the best, and his racecraft improves with the experience he gains with every moto.  He seems to be maturing and starting to leave the nonsense behind him, which is good because he's been his own worst enemy up until now.  He will take all this with him to the 450 class, so he obviously has the same advantages the previous "golden boys" before him had.  I believe his drive to win will serve him well in his transition the big bike class.  I've not been a fan of much of his behavior but that seems to be improving and there is no denying his strength and skill on the track.  I think he will fare well in the class (just as Jett has) but will no doubt face an improved level of competition with Jett, Eli, etc.  Barring injuries we should see some fantastic battles next year between all of them.  After that it is quite possible we will see battles reminiscent of Carmichael/Stewart and Villapoto/Dungey between Jett and Deegan.

We shall see and it will be entertaining to watch it unfold.

I agree with your sentiments.  Your comment about O'Mara being his coach though.. That can't be right?

Big Deegan fan. Huge Tomac fan. Deegan is a bit small to man handle a 450 for an entire moto and this may be his achilles heel in the big bike class at first. He reminds of Martin size wise...just a bit small for a 450 over a 30 minute moto. I think he'll adapt far better than Martin, but ripping a 450 for 30 +2 is no joke in the summer heat.

Small like Ricky Carmichael?

all the things you say about Deegan make complete sense given you think his "coach" is O'Show - man I tell ya 🤣 Not all casuals are Deegan fans but all Deegan fans are casuals.

I don't believe Deegan will beat any top 5 guy his first 450 year in SX or MX. There is a lot to learn about the 450 class that will take longer to adapt to with his riding style than in the 250 class.

Jett, Hunter, Ken, Eli, Aaron, Cooper, Chase, Justin, RJ, Malcom. That is 10 riders who will not be easy to beat so next year will be interesting to watch and how well will Eli and Chase gel with their new bikes?

You are correct I confused O'Mara coaching him instead of Jett.  I've corrected my post.

Let me guess.  You probably think that a kid from NZ with two regional sx wins is generational, but Haiden who has a regional sx title, two smx titles, and is in the driver's seat for his second outdoor title is Believe the Hype 2.0?

You and Paul333 should have a pajama party and talk about how much you dislike DNGR DEEGZ.

Oh hey there fuckstick.  I'm not particularly a Deegan fan at all but just giving a realistic view of what i expect from him in the move to the 450's.  I already corrected that post about O'Mara.  You may resume chewing rocks again.

Deegan isn't even in the same league technically as Jett. All we are going to see if Jett pull bike lengths each corner using technique while Deegs spins on the spot while grabbing a handful

I've been following deegans career like the rest of us . Every year or every class it's been the same thing " XYZ rider is going to smoke deegan,he doesnt have a chance against fill in the blank" . It literally has not happened a single time.

And XYZ were all kids on 250's. Not the big boys on 450's. Unless you're bring up Hunter Lawrence, who did smoke Deegan

Im just saying ,his whole career people have been trying to find the "gothcha" rider that was going to show deegan their back fender.  Its usually from the crowd that doesnt like deegan for one reason or another .

Ah gotcha. I agree. People getting so blinded by their dislike of a rider they cant separate that from seeing a guys obvious talent. I dont love everything Deegz does. But he's an absolute unit and he outworks hiis competition.

RC wasn’t RC coming off 125s either. We have 20 years of hindsight to look at his career including the big bike class. He was good on the small bikes but a little inconsistent. He was also coming up at the same time MC was absolutely destroying the SX races so RC had similar discussions about maybe being the next thing but could he beat MC. Plus, no internet keyboard warriors then.

I honestly thought Jett would have a little trouble on the big bikes because of how thin he is. He has the technique and rides flowy but I thought he’d be better with a little more mass. Obviously I was mistaken.

Well, I hope Deegs adapts to the 450 and can put a hurtin on Jett. That wb some epic racing if he can.

I think outdoors, maybe not next summer being year one, he will be a bigger challenger to the top 450 riders sooner vs SX. At the end of the day, all we can do is bench race til the day comes but it sure is fun doing it. I’m just hoping he figures out SX better, I’d love to see it turn into a legit battle with him and the top riders.

He’ll be alright, if there’s one thing the kids got is great stamina and strength, he’ll adapt well. Plus he’s only 19. Size wise, he’s already taller than the Martin bros. If we were to compare heights, he’s already up there compared to greats.

Deegan 5’7”

JS7 5’7”

RV2 5’8”

RC 5’6”

Are we 💯 sure he’s riding 450s outdoors next year? Brian might want to have him win another 250 outdoors to put that on the resume and duck Jett and Eli one more year

Deegan will also learn, that he can't push the 450 guys around like he does the 250 guys. They will give it back way more, and theirs more depth.

I hope Barcia gets some of his speed back, since him vs Deegan would be interesting to watch. And we can't count out El Hombre either, it'll make for some great entertainment.

Agree with some of that, but Deegan also has never backed down to anyone.  It will be a learning year for him for sure, but I expect by the time outdoors is over, both Barcia and Anderson will be in his rear view mirror.

Outdoors I think Danger will win a couple races and finish 2nd in the Championship to Jett. SX , He will finish on the podium 5 times and finish 4th in the championship.

How ironic that you didn't get your info right while calling out others. Johnny O' has coached some fast guys besides Jett, like Joey Savagty. If Haiden is not elite enough, then where does that leave Joey?

DNGR Derangement Syndrome is a thing.

You’re cherry picking your comparison there by singling out Jett.  He’s had the best transition, statistically at least, of any rider in history from 250 to 450.

The reality is that there’s been so many promising 250 riders, who won titles, but couldn’t get it done in the 450 class.  That’s not saying Deegan can’t, it’s saying that there isn’t any reliable predictor and no one knows.

As others have mentioned, you never know how the transition goes to 450. Even if he gels with bike immediately, starts are a critical aspect in 450. He’s defending his sx title, so much of it could depend on his testing on new bike. Hes very capable of mixing it up with Tomac and others. Excited to see how it goes.
