Where do you stop on the way and/or coming home. My youngest used to love stopping for a sausage biscuit on the way, and absolutely HAD to have a slushie coming home. Great times.Man, they grow up fast.
Being from the Midwest, two slices of Casey’s pizza is mandatory after a long day of moto.
I also have a “lucky” gas pump I prefer to hit on the way to the track.
My son and I always stop at McDonald’s on our way home after a day of riding/racing.
It’s the one day I don’t feel guilty eating there..
Dairy Queen....Large Vanilla cone please !
Not alawys, but often for us too
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
After 100 degree day at the track, I’ll find a cold beer somewhere!!!
Long black and a steak & cheese pie from the petrol station on the way to the track
Dad and I have a favorite coffee place on the way home from pretty much anywhere we ride, and always grab an iced mocha.
As far as track rituals…right sock, left sock, right knee protector, left knee protector, right boot, left boot.
back in the carb days, I also checked that the petcock was on about 20 times on the gate, lol…
Nessy Burger on the way home from Pala. It’s the only way I can get my wife to spend the day at the track with us. Haha.
In the old days, it was Tip Top Meats after a sesh at Carlsbad MX
Temecula Pizza after Cahuilla
Grizzly Burger for Burgers and Shakes after a day at LACR when my kids were riding.
Used to be a 12 pack & bag of pretzels….I”m down to a 6 pack now
It was a long time ago…. But we always had a large pasta meal Saturday night before a race and bacon and eggs in the morning. About a gallon of Gatorade during the day and A&W on the way home. This was late 70’s, early 80’s and I’d say 40 to 45 times a year.
Wait you guys ride?
There’s a current “day” for you at Pala (it’s Old Dudes Mondays) and we hit a bar-b-q joint after.
I’m jus’ sayin’…
Not anymore haha
Ice cold sugar free Orange Monster on the way to the track and then an ice cold yellow Red Bull for the drive home with some pizza.
Mexican food after a long day riding or racing ALWAYS. Chicken enchiladas 👌🏽
Mandatory coffee and punk rock on the morning drive in. Post-ride ritual depends on how the day went.
Pit Row
After Southwick it was aways Papa Ginos by the airport. Celery and carrots and banannas for snack lunch.
I always swing by Biggby Coffee and get a sausage egg & cheese on everything bagel and down that with a body armor drink and a banana or two. Post ride I swing by the local bbq pit and get a smoked brisket sandwhich. I got to be known as “Yamaha” when I would show up with my bike in the back or the truck. The owner would see me and say “I’ll have your brisket ready in just a few minutes”. Guess you could say I was a regular 😂
We always hit Wendy's, 2 bacon cheese burgers and biggie fry and a large frosty for the ride home ,That was in the 90's coming back from Starvation Point.
when my son was on 65's we had a KTM that seemed to always fouled plugs (got it figured out eventually) but that created a ritual of always firing the bikes up and running them up and down the street before loading them. last thing i wanted was along drive to the track and a bike that wont start. one particular day that little KTM was running real damn good. I took an extra run up and down the street because it was running so good. well i come into the driveway a little hot. roll up style curb caused the back end to kick out. bike went sliding into the back of wifes car. i went rolling across the drive way. Very first thing i heard was "my bike" from my son and the front door open up and the wife yelling "did you hit my car!" im on the ground holding my wrist in pain. i get up tell the wife her damn car is fine. i look at my son and say lets check your bike out. i go to stand it up and damn my wrist was hurting. i looked at my little buddy and said i think i broke my wrist. with watery eyes he say are we still going to the track? i suck it up and and say sure buddy. about 2 hours in i wave him off the track and say we gotta go my wrist is hurting to damn much. make it home to drop him off and head to urgent care and yup fractured wrist.
I still start the bike before loading i just dont go up the street with them.
Starbucks on the way
2 15 minutes motos if I’m feeling good
30 minutes messing with settings, making things worse
Bakers
1.75 hour drive home
Mandatory Kodiak Protein pancake, 2 scrambled eggs, water, and black coffee. 30 minutes before riding or racing I will drink HydroPower. I do this every single time. My morning is thrown off if I don't do this. 🤣
If we go to Pala, it's a stop at the Pala gas station deli for an awesome turkey sandwich, Cheetos and a drink. After the GH ride days, Miguel Jr's for a chicken burrito or taquitos. My boot ritual of stretching after each buckle side to side is my go to. Great moto days make for a great week.
Always stop at Jimboys for a burrito and tacos when in Marysville. Long drive home back to Reno.
Anything worth doing…
Usually 3 shots of tequila as I warm up the bike for the first session. Then I just sip on tequila and rum in between sessions and smoke a fatty. Calms my nerves for the big step up triple.
But yesterday, coming home from Oak Hill, my son and I stopped at Whataburger in Decatur, TX. Which is our tradition if going there.
I think we can all agree, there’s something about that drive to and from the track. On the way filled with nerves and excitement jamming to some good tunes.
On the way home, absolutely nothing beats the feeling driving home, favorite soda/drink, an epic snack/food/sandwich, feeling fulfilled because you rode great all day and have no injuries, just listening to the wind with the windows down and the bike in the back of the truck 😎
their breakfast pizza is to die for
