I think so too. Something that has seemed to get a little convoluted is that I think most people understand all the changes he made coming into his first year in the US on a 450, fresh off an injury and they would be understanding if he had a slow build back to his typical form. But I think he put a massive target in his back when he was asked how things are going and instead of pointing to any of those valid reasons, he said he needed a faster bike.

He’s off right now. He got a jump in moto 1 and by the 2nd turn he had lost 5 spots. He’s not comfortable with the bike, the other riders at minimum at this point.

I don't understand your point. He's not comfortable with the bike, I don't recall anybody saying he was. Or comfortable with anything for that matter. He still finished 23rd in a moto. Isn't it his job to get comfortable with the bike, like he has months to do, been paid a fortune to do, and have the resources any of us could only dream of to do. Yet despite being paid to acclimate and get comfortable with the bike he has failed so far. He needs more time? Does that mean Kawasaki doesn't have to pay him in the meantime? I am pretty certain he is paid to win...now. He knew the time constraints going in. Is next year a learning year too, bet it is.

He reminds me of Mike Alessi the way he gets a good start and then starts frantically looking around while people pass him on both sides.

He needs to stop quitting and ride these motos out at whatever the maximum pace is the bike allows. His confidence will come back eventually and the bike will feel better.

Imo... the only way for him to be This slow... unless there is an injury we don't know about, it has to be 100 percent mental...

I remember my freshman yr in college... had been stoked for years to get there... but, once there, I hated it... every bit of it.. the town.. the college... the food... the music, All of it!!...

Prado is riding like he hates it... all of it...

Reminds me of my freshman year of college in Eastern, Idaho (I rode/raced against Hymas a couple times. He smoked me on an 85 while I was on a 350). I didn't like all 4 years but stuck it out.

I don’t know what Jorge’s real issue is, but it ain’t the bike.  If it is, he needs to figure out what he needs to get comfy because 2026 SX ain’t going to be any easier.

On a relatively hard packed east coast track, he got a good start and dropped the anchor.  The Prado panic button has to be smashed at this point.

He's not even trying. He pushed for a bit early in the race when he passed Webb. Then had two good laps. Then dropped by 4 seconds a lap. There's no way that's bike related or fitness related. He must have made a mistake and decided to just mail it in.

He can't be trying. But that's apparently a controversial take. Dont say it too loud, otherwise that Nate129 guy on this board is going to come yelling at you like a Karen lol.

I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me but...just speculating I know.

It's interesting to think what if PC ran Kawasaki's 450 program like Star does with Yamaha?  It made the Yamaha 450 program instantly better.

Just that a 2 time mxgp champion is obviously going to say he expects to compete for the title.

I would guess the shoulder is more of a factor then is being let on. And with that surgery he missed a lot of time on the bike.

He and his bike don’t look good right now. His bike looks insanely soft and he was not aggressive at all when he got a good start Saturday.

I suspect we’ll see improvement in the coming rounds.

I mean, that makes sense! His life outside of Moto has changed massively as well. Ferrandis talked a lot about how hard the transition was. Even the food in America is soooo different to food in Europe. Saying that, with the wages he's on I'd expect him to perform even if he was living in the arse end of Siberia 😅

There has to be something wrong with him. Benoit Patureli is a 13-15 place GP guy and he pulled him in and passed him for 9th place.

Kawasaki should fire him for blaming the bike, and mediocre results.

Except unlike the Star/Factory Yamaha exchange, PC has had even worse results over recent years than Factory Kawi.

It is the 6 inches between his ears. He looks like he is just coasting and isn't confident to push, many large changes for him.  He may be a multi time MXGP champ, but he is human and everyone is different.  He will get it together, got a nice break to work on himself and the bike this weekend,

Lol. I agree he's not trying. I don't agree with you respecting him for it because he's making millions (maybe) of dollars on a guaranteed contract.

Apparently that makes me a Karen 😂

Maybe it got lost in translation, and what he really meant was to much power and that he cant hold on to it for full moto with way his lap times drop.

6/16/2025 4:27pm

He’s not strong enough to hang on to the new style bike yet after injury.
After a few laps his arms become Popeye.

Note: Never admit it’s arm pump.

I've posted below in the 'other' Prado thread.. still think this is the case:

He needs time. His first year in MXGP class was tough as well, even though he showed the speed. He started that year with a big injury (broken femur) and had to work his way back to pace. Took him more then a year to get comfortable enough to push. If he is not comfortable he will not push. I remember his first year on the GasGas he was struggling a LOT. He rode quite a bit at our local track and WP Suspension was with him trying all sorts of things all the time. Last year (2024) he was unreal on tracks around Lommel area.

You cannot tell me that a rider that went top 5 on a 250 at MXON races - from the age of 17 years old - doesn't have the speed and ability to get closer to the leaders at the outdoors. And that's not meant as a disrespect to the AMA riders. But, we all know he should be up front if he is comfortable. I didn't expect him to win immediately, but everyone that has seen him ride the past 8-10 years, sees that he is not 100% comfortable

I don't know if prado was comfortable in mxgp the first year....but after four races he was doing quite  well....of the 10 races he rode ...he won 3 and had 5 podium finishes ..The last 4 he was injured again

It's  so bad now that i think if there is no improvement the next race in southwick it will also be his last on kawasaki

Last races got COVID. In his last race in lommel he looked pretty bad and he got positive on COVID in the afternoon.

Hope he and his team found something in the break and start to turn around things

He's still dealing with some issues from his shoulder injury. Lack of seat time and prep can easily lead to arm pump, if not other undisclosed issues. Plus, BIG GREEN PIG!
