Some of you are just trolling now. 250 sx and mx  champion Hunter Lawrence?

Matt Leblanc, Nick Romano is starting to become a one hit wonder.

What were stand out rides?  Seemed like Leblanc was already burnt out that season.

There really werent any. Leblanc barely ever cracked top 10. Romano went 4-9 at Dilla in '22 for 7th overall and had a 6th in a 250 sx. Solid rides but not really fitting the theme of the thread. Romano is a bummer. He had the fastest laptime at LL in the B class when Kitchen was there in the pro class. I thought he was going to be a solid pro

I’m actually not really sure, all i remember is romano up front for a few races on star.

Damn, not sure why I was thinking Leblanc, but now that you mention it, it was Thrasher. Thanks.

Izzi Nico

Ryan Sipes

Ryan had some solid seasons and was the first American to overall ISDE. Pretty big deal for sure. Also success in gncc, nepg, and flat track. He can ride anything.

Sipes won 3 250sx races including the Vegas shootout one year. He had probably 6 250 sx podiums and was a fairly solid pro for a decade.

Who was the guy running with the big boys in the 250 National at Gatorback back in late 70's/early 80's?

Was it Kenny Keylon?

He def doesn't count a "One hit wonder" , but Thomas Covington's time in the sport seems unique. Like in terms of how an athlete's career took off and then inscrutably collapsed at the peak seems confounding.

Thats actually a really good one.

He won two MXGP's & had a run of 2nd's & 3rd's behind Prado & beat a ton of fast guys.....Comes to America & his best finish (indoors or outdoors) is 11th at Minneapolis SX.

Calls in quits in America in less than a year, heads back to the GP's, and never finished inside the top 20 again.

Had a good streak battling with Hunta for the 250 East SX title in '23. One race win a year with many other poor results no where near the podium & hasn't finished a full season since '22. One of the strangest careers IMO.

After that '23 season I fully expected him to come back and be one of the guys to beat for the title, but man that '24 season was so bad.  Hopefully he gets back to title contender form.

Fully expected him to come back after Hunta left and be the guy to beat. Has had a few wins & podiums in SX, Outdoors he's never podiumed an OA. So, with performances like his last couple of years, it wouldn't surprise me if he won't be on a Star bike when it's time to sign a contract.

Probably a good candidate for the next PC rider because "mitch can work with Speed"

Absolutely no one cares…

I could add Heath Voss ”2004 world SX champion”, zero wins or even podiums in the pro career.

Yeah, Voss was a bright talent.   He came, he had success and then he just left.
Heard he is in Texas and has a helicopter biz of some sort or snort.  Maybe something to do with wild boars.

How about Gannon Audette in 2016? IIRC it was as a fill-in rider for PC Kawi

Eric Eaton. Won the Washougal 500 National in 1985, and was never able to repeat his success that he had at Washougal that day.

Gert Krestinov who won the 2008 MX2 Grand Prix of Lommel with a 8-1 score, but after it never scored a podium again.

He won the overall with an 8-1? That has to be one of the most lopsided overalls in the history of the sport.

To the guy who said Brayton; 13 podiums and multiple overseas championships is 100% not a one hit wonder...

Sipes has more than one “hit” in more than one discipline of motorcycles. Possibly the worst example so far, and there’s been a lot of bad ones…

Kenny started 82 with a Honda support ride and picked up Donnie Hansen's factory ride when it was determined that Donnie couldn't recover from his head injury.  He went 1-1 at St. Pete's Sunshine Speedway in the 250 class and finished the series 5th overall.  Followed it up in 83 with a 9th place in the series.  As a privateer he finished 12th in 1981 and 11th in 1984 in the 500 class.  Physical problems (heart condition) derailed his pro career and he retired after 1985.
