One hit wonder for a season? Cody Cooper - Was the only one really to put JS7's perfect season in jeopardy in 2008 @ Southwick
One hit wonder for a race (won, then within a season was all but gone)? Craig Anderson. Won Southwick & podiumed Steel City in 2003, never sniffed the podium in 04' and was gone.
Some of the names on the "lists" ive seen above have riders with 10+ year careers on factory teams....I cant think of anything more OPPOSITE from a one hit wonder than someone who has made millions over multiple years.
Scott Champion
Broc Hepler
Beef had a pretty solid career. He went pro on that shit box motoworld 250f, but had some good years on Yamaha of Troy, Mdk ktm, factory Yamaha fill in, bto ktm, won some titles up in Canada. He kept grinding.
Sorry to derail the thread but I'd bet you $100 that Ty doesn't get another shot on a Factory Team after this year.
They just mentioned on Pulp recently that Mitch & crew are tired of dealing with him, just like pretty much every other team he's ever been on.

He tore his ACL at round 1 of supercross, has been struggling with it ever since, hopefully he’s getting it fixed
Dayton Briggs may be the best example so far
This is going back maybe 15 years ago, but a guy by the name of Sean Hamblin ( off road guy) was brought up to fill an injury filled roster for Suzuki, I believe. Maybe Kawi. Idk.
I thought I remember his getting a couple 4th place moto wins at some nationals in the big bore class.
I don't remember Sean Hamblin being an "off road guy".
I think you're right. Why did I think he was? I just realized now as i searched his name My bad
There was an offroad guy who one manufacturer brought up to fill a roster back in that era.
Did Kyle Regal get an outdoor podium?
Danny Smith? Can remember he won Southwick on Suzuki after his brother dying (?) but don’t know of much else
That Volcom/Thor gear, the Tagger helmet and the Eleven10 Honda is one of the best punk rock Privateer looks of the modern generation.
Probably thinking of Ricky Dietrich. BTW, Hamblin is a member here and posts once in a while...
And I gotta say, this thread is just full of questionable guys being called "one hit wonders".
Sean was definitely not a one hit wonder. Simply stating that I thought he came out of off-road and made an instant impression. I was corrected.
But you did mention Dietrich, sp? That was fun to see happen.
And I do agree that some riders listed are also not.
But maybe the qualifier would be some guy totally off the radar or never ran in the top 20 and puts on a one of a kind showing.
And that is no disrespect to that rider. Its a battle of epic proportions to even qualify for a national.
Marty Moates went 1-1 at the Carlsbad 500 GP in 1980. Rode a LOP Yamaha. Never could duplicate that magical day.
Zach Bell- was that at southwick he pulled the holeshot, led, then crashed out?
Willie Bowden 80cc (‘88 Carlsbad CA up and comer)
Pat Barton (‘88 Southwick)
Keith Turpin (‘88 ish)
IDK man.
It's his first SX season, he jumped up from futures midway through the year. He got the holeshot in a mud race and led when RJ RJ'd & hydroplaned, mudders are an equalizer race. Not bad for a dude making a name for himself off of YouTube & getting a ride.
Pit Row
James Dobb. Super nice guy and I can’t recall the track but he went 1-38 for the day.
Did Anderson get that YOT ride cause he’s Reedy cousin? He didn’t do that good in ‘04 on the Motorsport Honda.
Jacob Marsak, got a podium at Daytona sx in the 450 class on a Bad Boy energy Honda I believe.
Prado #tooearly
Darryl Hurley from New Zealand
Izzi Nico
Ryan Sipes
James Dobb? You mean, like, former 125 world champ James Dobb?
Tagger has always done cool helmets but the stuff they did for Durham and Izzi was on another level.
Yes, that one. lol I meant stateside one hit wonders. No offense to James. I was a fan after meeting him.
He finished second in 125 west supercross in '96 with five podiums. He also won the overall at Unadilla in '93.

Turpin won the East Coast SX Championship. I’m thinking one hit wonders refers to races not championships.
Dammit Sully, why don’t you interfere with someone else’s post with your facts, figures, and logic?
Mea Culpa. I had forgotten about those wins and overalls. I remember being so surprised when he went 1-38 without a dnf. He did say though during a quick interview after his first moto win that he was completely exhausted and was concerned about the second moto. lol
