so 2027 huh.. in other words there is a very good chance this isn't happening.. too much can go wrong with things even outside Kawasaki's control such as the global economy taking a massive shit over everyone's plans

I also heard from a very reliable source that it is a '27 model. You guys are correct that sometimes things go sideways,  but remember that the '27s are going into full production starting in January next year. That's not a long time, from a preparation standpoint. They may be doing some prototype corrections or still deciding on final specs as far as colors, sub vendors, etc.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's going to be one bike with two trim versions. GNCC, Hare & Hound, woods guys are going to be happy.

Why release a 300cc 2 stroke when it’s not eligible to race the 250 amateur or 450 pro class?

Because it’s supposedly going to be an offroad version, not motocross. And they’ll sell out almost immediately so there’s really no reason to question why.

Vets will race them in moto as well. There is definitely a market for this bike.

A 'bored' 250 would work ok for trails. A real 300 would be best though. So, I hope it's 'stroked' too!

I've owned several Austrian bikes since 2011, mostly 2 strokes and don't regret purchasing a single one of them. All were rock solid and super reliable. Just bought a new '25 TX-300 a month ago, so jury's still out on it. Have no reason to believe it will be any different. I owned a 2018 YZ-250X for a few years. Great bike as well, but for the type of riding I do, it fell way short of the Austrian bikes.

'24 300SX, 70 hrs and she seized from the poor cooling around the exhaust power valve. It also fried the PV motor when it couldn't close the PV completely. KTM has no parts availability, so I luckily found a used PV motor and new cylinder/piston kit on ebay. Dealer said a lot of customers with no timeline on any back orders!

It is recommended to use a 1/4 drill bit to enlarge the cylinders top/fwd coolant passage, shifter side. I saw the recommendation, but planned it for a top end job. D'oh!

You can charge quite a bit more for a 300 xc or enduro bike than a 250 mx bike. Probably close to $2k more if ktm pricing is any indication.

Yes, it's one of the Great 'value adds' - well, value add for the maker, as much as it can be for the buyer.

Just a bigger piston / bore (and, of course a few other little things), and, you get to charge more for the same bike.

I've always thought it's been a truly wonderful thing for KTM / The Group, and other makers of 300s, to have such an easy price increaser. It's been a real money maker - though, it didn't stop them , the KTM Group, from , essentially, going belly up.........

It's why I doubt we will see much more than the 250 / 300 2T sizing - it's such a cheap way to get more models / sales from the same, basic, engine module.

Though, I always hope for a 350 / 400 2t. The supposedly coming Beta 350, might show that the same basic cases can do a 350, with it just being a 1.6mm increase in stroke over the 72mm 'norm' - and yes, I know Beta have recently gone to a shorter stroke on the 250 / 300 2t - and a 6mm bore increase from 72mm.

Why tease it during supercross if it's going to be off-road models?

Not saying you are incorrect, I just don't understand Kawi's reasoning here. Most sx viewers couldn't care less and likely got hyped up by Kawi for nothing. Just seems like they are shooting themselves in the foot here. When I think of bringing back two strokes I think 125s and 250s.

Perhaps because 2-strokes aren't that competitive in MX/SX... And due to that, the market would be quite small and niche.

Offroad however, 2-strokes are typically preferred and the market is enormous comparatively.

Perhaps an XC style bike that could be set up for either would be a good option... But I bet they lean towards off road.

Are you saying most off-road guys don’t watch SX? That’s just absolutely bananas.

Did Kawasaki get the marketing folks from Stark to do that January tease?😂  Because so far this has been nothing but smoke and mirrors.  Maybe they should start taking deposits for delivery in a couple years😏

Definitely think it was 100% the marketing team saying we have to announce it on 1/25. They know people will look for Easter eggs anywhere and everywhere and that’s a good one. Even if they don’t release a 125 people will be talking about it.

I've noticed on Kawasaki's social media they keep showing a KX250 with #300. I believe that is an egg as well. (I know that was Drew Adam's old number, but still think it's a nugget).

Everyone has been redirected from the 2-stroke project to help fix the 450 program 😬

Kinda weird Kawasaki just released their 2026 models with BNG on the KXs except the 85 and 112.

Sure hope they bring something to compete with the Austrian brands. They need a totally new 65, 85, 112 and 125. The LL Regionals the last few weeks are all Austrian brands, except for the few kids getting paid to ride Yamaha’s.

Ah good catch. Must be some freshies coming! Perhaps a bold new 2 stroke campaign?

Beta '26 RX350 smoker just announced! RX250 as well. Added X-Trig rubber bar mounts, as their counter balancer is not nearly as affective as KTM.

That's nice but we're waiting for the Green GPX 300 with Kawasaki stickers on it 🤣

Yeh the 85 and 112 are still listed as 2025 models whereas the rest are 2026 models.

I'll guess the new 2st as reported by MXA is a 85 and 112

If they build a 112 then they should also do an 125cc. That way they can create brand loyalty towards kids and use those 85 - 125 bikes to develop talents in Europe. Same as you need a 85 and 112 for Kawasaki USA if you want them to develop new champions.

Yep. We still don’t know that they haven’t given up.
