I’m looking at my bike earlier thinking, dam I need tires now. Then I thought, what am I doing. $ for parts $ for gear $ for maintenance $ to ride $$$$ ! For what? To waste money 😂
Then I thought ahhhh what am I thinking , I love to ride and be free on the bike! It’s a cool talent and privilege and we should enjoy it as long as we can! Anybody else ever feel the same?
Yes! However, I never do or say any of what you said leading up to “I love to ride and be free on the bike! It’s a cool talent and privilege and we should enjoy it as long as we can!” In quotes is where I live! I am thankful everyday that I am done riding and rolling it back in the van to take it for a wash and get it ready for the next ride. Next ride plan starts the second I’m done with the one I’m on. Keep on, keeping on…
Edit: Also, open invite. I ride most Fridays and sometimes Sundays or Mondays at Fox/Pala. I park in the same spot always, mid ways between the vet and the main, Silver Chevy Express van and Kawasaki #94. Stop by and have a chat if you ever around.
I’ve been obsessed since I first laid eyes on the 1992 KX250 at 6yrs old. PW and up it was about going fast & getting “air”.
Now that I’m older I enjoy the woods a little more. It’s about getting out in nature & riding with the boys for the day.
To me the $$ spent is really just a wash. Memories were made. Worth it. What’s better than watching a buddy fall over in a low water crossing? 🤣
Could be worse… you could own a boat! JK
altho I don’t ride like I used due to personal financial strain , when I did ride it was outlet for me just to escape reality for a few hrs & fill the void of my competitive itch when I wasn’t on the football field
As soon as I hop on the bike and start grabbing gears, I get a tiny flashback, remembering what it was like to be 9 years old and doing it for the first time.
That kid is still in there, that kid is me.

When I was young it made my dick harder than my girlfriend.
Later in life it was my free time away from day to day slug of family duties.
NowdaysI don't ride any more, but Sundays ( Australia time) is the highlight of the week.
Money well wasted
To be completely honest, these days theres only 2 reasons. One is 13 years old, and one is 14 years old, and they both love it so im stuck.
Me too. Nurses are hot.
I ride for the yeet.
My aunt said I was addicted to motorcycles in the 1980’s.
She may be right 😂
Pit Row
Spent two hours prepping my backyard track last night. Damn, I love this NC dirt when its fresh!! Finally getting back to after work rides now that time has changed. Got a few buddys coming over today.
It's life for me. Take a stroll down my memory lane.
1959, 3 years old on my dad's 1927 Indian Scout. Sorry for granny photo. it's a photo I took off a paused video.
1969, First bike a 1957 Triumph Tiger Cub.
1971, Second bike a 1965 Honda CB160. Street not a dirt bike but tried to make it one. It didn't work.
1972, First trophy won on my dad's 1958 BSA Goldstar 500.
1974, My first real MX bike a 1973 Suzuki TM250.
1978, 1977 Suzuki RM250. One of my favorites.
1979, Yamaha YZ250
1982, New Honda CR250.
New 1987 Kawasaki KX500.
1993 Honda CR250. The best 2 stroke ever.
2001 Yamaha YZF426.
2005 Honda CRF450.
2011 Suzuki RMZ450.
2012 KTM SXF 350. I still have it today and it's all I need.
I have had other bikes and some vintage bikes also but that covers from beginning to now. It's been a fun journey. Hope I can do it another 10 years at least.
Thank you for the reminder that I need milk. Rupert X Pellet.
One thing I have to say it has gotten harder and harder to find places to ride.
In the 1970’s - 2000 in Laurel Maryland I used to be able to pull my bike out and go ride right from my house. All those riding areas were developed. My self and my riding buddies had to load up and drive to PA to ride.
Because we’re bad mother fuckers.
Friend has a sign in his shop, "4 wheels move the body, 2 wheels move the soul".
I think we all ride to have fun and once it's in your blood nothing really compares to riding a dirt bike ! We kind of turn into someone else when the helmet and gear get put on.
Freedom, soul therapy and instant removal of worldly problems
Because it's awesome and there's nothing better!
Been at it for 54 years, it's who I am and what I do. Makes me smile just putting on a helmet.
Because at some point in our lives we got on one, and now we can’t stop. Even after spending thousands of dollars every year, hospital stays, daily aches and pains, we brush all that aside and keep at it. They’re addictive little suckers 😆
Edit: Reading through these posts I can relate to every one, but I'm sure you guys have figured out to never try and explain it to someone who doesn't ride. Especially if they know about past injuries and how old you are. There's been a couple times where a customer or family acquaintance has said, "Oh I heard you had a bad motorcycle accident ?, did you sell the bike ?, you're not still riding are you ?" My spider senses have gotten better at detecting non beleivers lol "Oh I sold (that) bike", and mumble to myself ...nevermind the other 2 I bought since then 😆😆
Because ball sports suck. And i suck at ball sports.
Lots of reasons I ride and these days its for my own good and not for anyone else.
I like pain.
