Making down votes visible would also be great though, when I hit that thumbs down I want them to know it was me.
Can't remember a time anybody asked for a thread title to be hidden so not convinced it was needed. Is this a trial phase?
But since we've seen that downvotes are able to hide content, if an ignore user option isn't technically possible on this forum, how about a compromise that has downvotes hide replies.
Not only would the occasional really bad take be hidden, but certain users would effectively be policed out then by the general population as well.

It’s part of a new system where if a thread or response receives a certain amount of downvotes, it collapses.
It was activated today but the threshold defaulted to a lower setting then we had planned.
I changed the threshold to a much higher number now. It also goes off of upvotes. So a post that's "controversial" with lots of upvotes and downvotes won't go hidden.

So in theory we could have a post with 1,197 downvotes to 1,226 upvotes. Sure why not 😆 Then guys who aren't even participating can have a say if gets flushed or not with a thumb war to vote for their side. If that funny fucked up thread you like is about to get flushed cause it has 29 downvotes you can help save it. Once it's past 30 can more upvotes bring it back or is it like a toilet ? Once it's flushed that shit is gone ?

Can't believe people find it so difficult to scroll past posts or threads they don't love without reading and responding and not sure there's much to be gained by catering to people with that little self control. Trolls that don't get fed go away.

I was so confused earlier while scrolling a thread when I came across a Magoofan comment that was collapsed. I immediately had to click it to see what it said.
And that's OK! That's also why people shouldn't worry about downvotes, could have been an accidental click while scrolling, could be a total shitshow of a person (in which case, why would you care about their opinion?) or just a person who doesn't really care.
If I have a post that gets downvotes, I'll either rethink my position, or just understand that some people simply don't agree but don't feel like taking the time to either have a constructive conversation, or have a knock down, drag out, good old fashioned internet fight.
