Disagree.  Windham never won a title in 18 ? years of racing pro. He also didn't crash or fall that much.

And KDub has admitted he didn't put everything he had into being a champion and relied on natural talent. Polar opposite from Chase

yep Kdub was no crasher....most talented dude ever imho.

just refused to take the PEDS RC was on...........

This level of intensity is something i don't believe weve seen before. I dont think anyone can be completely mistake free. His have just been all inopportune times.

ML, was Sexton or any of the 450 guys running 110 rears in the ruts? Coulda swore the #4 tire looked smaller.

Yep. The KTM is probably as good as it gets. He seems to have the bike dialed. Chase is like a slightly faster Jeff Stanton - He muscles the bike a lot. (Not even close to Windham style)

Imagine chase keeping Red Bull and moving to Suzuki with Kenny. Crazy.

I can only dream.

I don't know if it's even an option to go elsewhere but I think it would be a mistake. Starting over on another platform would yield a loss year searching for settings, in my opinion. There's nothing wrong with the KTM. We've seen it look amazing this year. It's Chase

I can't remember any of my favorite riders in recent years being as frustrating as Chase. Dungey was as solid and consistent as you could want a guy to be. His early battles with JLaw, then the rivalry with RV made him mentally tough as fuck. Then I really rooted for Eli, who could definitely make you tear your hair out. Outdoors he was a beast but took awhile to get over the hump in sx. So much so that some thought he would never get a title. But Chase is a different animal. I think Arlington broke me, as a fan. Maybe it broke Chase too. Remember him after the race with his head in his hands? 2nd place would have given him the win and the points lead. Fuuuck!

When Sexton stops Sextoning…

He’ll get that #1 back.

Until then? He’s gonna be frustrated.

Eli won two titles and the mxon his first year on the Yamaha. Someone could switch and be fine but maybe chase is a bit slower to warm up.

I was trying to theorize to myself that when the pressure's off, he thrives - came on strong in late '23 SX after the Title was supposed to be out of reach, Hangtown 40th to 1st after crashing early (nothing to lose), Detroit last to 1st after hitting the gate and crashing (nothing to lose), versus the Tampa fall and Dallas melt down, but I still can't connect the dots with a solid argument here as Daytona was in the first section of a heat race and he just spun on the face, and this weekend was I guess a regular tip over while maybe riding within his limits (or maybe he was trying to push, under pressure to catch Webb???)

Who knows.

I won't be surprised if chase screws his brain back in and wins 2025 SX going away because...

1) he is the strongest rider in the field.

2) he is the quickest rider remaining in the field.

3) He is on the 2nd(?) best bike? (STAR's looking good)

4) he has won the title before so experience should count.

we shall see.

Sadly he's like AC in that they both spend time pontificating and quoting stoics meanwhile the Dawg just fking gets after it. I can relate in that for some ppl it's just hard to shut the brain off and be present. I do a lot of car sim racing and whenever I get the premonition I'm going to make a mistake or I'm "owed" one, it fking happens. Every fkig time.

Daytona crash was a dooozy, took balls for him to finish the main, and is prob limiting his performance now.   He will figure it out.

He’s not that doughy. He was a fat little shit but he’s looking good now. He’s probably getting some T replacement with how bald he’s going. Hes going from Mr Bean to Mr Clean.

I remember when Steve Sax went through this problem.
The yips

Steve Sax's struggles:

In 1983, Steve Sax, a Dodgers second baseman, inexplicably began having difficulty making routine throws to first base. He made 30 errors that season, and his throws were so wildly errant that some fans started wearing helmets.

"Steve Sax Syndrome":

His struggles became so well-known that the term "Steve Sax Syndrome" emerged to describe second basemen who can't throw to first base.

The "Yips":
Sax's situation is often cited as an example of the "yips," a condition in which a player suddenly loses the ability to perform a simple, previously mastered movement, like throwing a baseball.

Jeff Emig seemed to struggle with a similar  phenomenon in 98 .  The whoops were his nemesis .  There was a couple races where he got good starts and ended up finishing outside the top 10 without crashing .  It was strange .

In 98, Emig was self admittedly partying a lot ( A lot more ) . Some guys have a hard time adjusting their riding style when they become their adult height and weight.

I like Chase and think he has insane potential......but let's be real here.

- - 4. Round 15 Sexton was 4 points behind Webb and 14 points behind Tomac.
Round 16 Webb crashes out and Sexton reduced the lead to 11 behind Tomac. 11 points with two rounds to go is hardly a “gift”.

Not to mention Sexton had one race outside the top 5 even after all his tip overs and race wins he handed to Tomac.

I will say this T is the last thing he would want to take trying to race. So if he is taking T replacement and doing that well then I'm even more impressed.

While it would make him leaner and gain muscle it would also make him pump up. Not a bad thing if powerlifting or bulking to do a bodybuilding show. It wouldn't be on my to do list for such a high muscular endurance sport such as supercross. Especially during the season.

He only closed that 11 point gap because ET3 tore his Achilles while he was in the lead. So far all of Sextons championships have come from the guys ahead of him in points getting hurt, not because he beat them straight up.

I'm pretty sure Kawasaki would take him. But maybe not. Maybe Ducati is the only real option.

any one else sick and tired of the "he only won because he was the last one standing"  duh.  that's how it works gentlemen.  In order to be the champion you have to endure the series.  He has and will.  Don't care who ya like, if they are not there at the end, it simply doesn't matter all the other bullcrap means nothing. woulda, coulda, shoulda. is fine, but the kid wins and won because of his ability to finish what he starts.

Now i am bias as hell.  but sheeesh it gets old from the keyboard folks.  win lose or draw, who ever is in the lead at the end.

EARNED IT.  that simple, i have dirt to move have a great day.

Oh and we have been around this kid a long time, he doesn't give up much

ever.

Webb is currently in control of the points...  There is no debate there.

But a Roczen/lapper event is all that has to happen for Chase to be back out front....

It's not over till the last checkered flag.

No. All depends on if Eli walks away into retirement.
