I wish you were right, but this will all be dead by Monday and even this thread will be tapering off or gone by then. The silence from the other media, NBC, RC, and the other players tell us that. I will continue to be confused how RC is allowed to stay in the booth, not because of this, but because he sucks. No clue what the future holds for DB after this, but it won't be calling races or being invited to Race Day Live.
I listened to the PulpMX podcast take on this whole DB/NBC deal. I think Matthes and JT did a really good job of condoning workplace impropriety. Evidently, Matthes and JT feel lying, demeaning, insulting, and sabotaging your fellow workers is "no big deal" in the workplace. That a person should be perfectly OK receiving that sort of treatment or dishing it out. I've run a business for 45 years, some of my employees and customers with me for that long, this is news to me. I've always felt coworkers need respect and honesty, who knew? I would imagine if they had a loved one treated like this in a career situation it's OK? To any impressionable young people listening to the episode, it's OK to treat coworkers or employees this way? I feel those two had a great opportunity on that episode to support a friend and make a moral statement and they failed. And sorry ML, Lewis, Darkside, everyone else in the media, you are failing too. There are very young people in this sport, perhaps you have kids yourself and your silence is your approval of treating people this way. This fraternity mentality in the moto media where the young lady who dresses pretty and had maybe one to many beers "was asking for it" is shameful. Go ahead and not speak up about what happened to DB, perhaps you will be the next one who is betrayed by the very industry you counted on.
It’s funny Steve used to offer constructive criticism of RC in the booth but ever since they kissed and made up and RC started calling into his show the broadcast is awesome and we dont understand why people would call into the show and complain about it…
Matthes just said on Monday night that he wishes RC was a little more DGAF with his takes, hes Riciy Carmichael after all. Then, JT chimed in with the sentiment you just posted, "he has been doing that"

This stuff kinda reminds me how SuperTex is treated compared to Mario Andretti. To me AJ was a much better driver and IMHO has a far superior resume of his career. BUT ole SuperTex is a hardass and terrible in front of a camera, so you will-and-have seen Mario in front of the camera way more than him. Hell it pissed me off when they gave Mario a nod in the animated movie 'CARS', but not AJ? At least AJ wont the Daytona 500 and yet he got no love from Pixar. It seems that guys who have the gift of racing fast and the grit to use that to be a multi-champion in their sport, oftentimes are pricks in real life and have zero people skills. Buckwheat makes no apologies for his "fuck 'em all, I dont care" approach, and he dominated during his time.

100%. Right or wrong, office politics is a big thing. Perhaps if DB would have shut up and taken his lumps this season...maybe he gets the nod for next season. Maybe not. The point is now he'll never know. He got EXTREMELY close to his goal, got offended, quit, went scorched earth and now will never be in the booth. I don't think he thought all of this entirely through.
😆
There are monsters amongst us in this world, whether it be workplace harassment, school yard bullying, child predators, racists, whatever. People like that are monsters and will be monsters no matter what. It is the people who stand by and know what the monsters are doing and have done and say or do nothing that exposes the monsters in our lives. Not that this is the same thing but many, many people knew about Epstein's behavior, nobody said or did things for years. The silent people who knew of his behavior and did not expose his actions are just as guilty as the person who performed the acts. Evidently many in the moto industry media know about the conspiracies, malfeasance, and impropriety surrounding the organization and broadcasting of our sport, and it isn't just the Blair episode, yet all these people in the media stand by and say there is nothing to see here, or it is no big deal. This hurts all of us, from the one bright spot in the broadcasting team -Blair- being muscled out, to having RC slay the English language repeatedly making our sport look like dingbats.
I don't know if staking his future on commentating job in a niche sport that someone said he would maybe get was as good of an idea as he thought it was. Looks at Ralph and Weege, they spent a lifetime establishing themselves as motosports broadcast anchors and there's no guarantee for them. DB is good in the booth but he brings limited experience and almost no name recognition.
Office politics sucks, it's as simple as that and anyone that works closely with Field or NBC going too far in this story is just getting wrapped up in more office politics.
DBs not the first person to get screwed over. NBC and Jay Leno really screwed over Conan OBrien when he finally got his shot at the tonight show. There was a story going around recently where a director was casting a movie and the studio said they couldn't cast a particular actor because they didn't have a 1,000,000 followers on Instagram, they only had 900,000.
If the story is 50% true, there is no way he is going back to NBC with the current crew. It was three people that pushed him out. Producer, Diffey and Carmichael. That's three people and two you know are coupling the testicles of Hollywood. We all love RC for his talent and knowledge of riding dirt cycles but he's still John Madden in the booth. And Madden as goofy as he was, a monumental giant in Football.
Yeah, just my .02 cents, I don't see a door opening for Blair by keeping this story to himself. Now NBC can see the error of their ways or perhaps something else happens for Daniel. Who knows.
Unless Daniel says stand-down, I won't be done. Any and all means, twitter, instagram, letters to Monster, Triumph, and all the stakeholders. This Cocksucker of a Legend needs to go away.
Have you considered therapy
What’s the ideal/realistic thing here moving forward? Good for DB for getting things off his chest but this is the 3rd time it’s kind of been public and twice it’ hasn’t been the whole story. Not to mention the constant inside joking and hints in what seems like every second podcast. He did a great job but it’s now likely over because of all this. It does suck because of how well he did the job being charismatic, well versed on top of the experienced insight with very few speech hiccups. Ya the 3min RDL thing was lame but could that have been the start of working back in ? RC certainly won’t resign, he didn’t win everything for that long by being soft. Look how long the cycling goat Lance had his heels dug in the sand, he went on Oprah and lied straight to her face. Can’t really speak on Diffy as I haven’t seen proof of him being a dink but we can all agree that Weege is our guy there. To me nobody really looks good in this entire thing
I work for a Fortune 100 company in California. The amount of harassment ethics, morality etc. trainings we get a year is quite generous (to put it lightly)
The Bully Goat behavior RC has displayed would have been dealt with swiftly. But, likely he would have been fired for poor performance far earlier.
What these trainings have taught is if you see or hear of harassment behavior (yes, you’re not even part of the harassment) ….instructions are to report it to your Manager and HR.
It’s important. That type of Cancer can take down the moral of the entire organization. I’ll say it again, it’s time to call a spade a spade and cut the Cancer (RC) out of the Booth.
Edit: Last time I checked Monster is a Fortune 500 company and NBC is likely Fortune 50 or 100 company
Huh
That’s a really interesting take. Also, should give some renewed pride to all those that call “14” their number.

Foyt was truly “Mr. No FucksGiven” out on the track and on the podium. 😂
Some of you would not last in the trades. Workplace harassment is part of the job. If you get upset, you get harassed more for being a pussy.
Didn’t both Foyt and Andretti win the Daytona 500?
Either way, I wish that I’d have had 10% of the talent of either of them and it sounds like they became pretty decent friends in their old age.
Pit Row
Can't wait to see how many of the keyboard warriors protest by not watching the racing today.
Absolutely zero will follow through.
Giving my post a thumbs up 👍
Yes but unlike Mario, AJ won the overall at LeMans, which he called “a little country road”. IIRC, he drove like 18 of the 24 hours. He also won the Indy 500 four times. Mario has won once.
Don’t get me wrong, Mario is one of the best. He’s no AJ though.
I doubt any real moto fans would be that dumb.
So…you’re not watching?
What does the trades have to do with a white collar job at NBC?
I’ve worked side by side with many Union represented labor workers (back in my Defense contractor days or with Teacher Union representatives)
Never an issue. If anything, I’d get reprimanded for doing Union work and “taking” money out of Union labor pockets.
Long and short of it, stop the divert with a bullshit comment/response like you did. Giving the trades a black eye my Vital brother,
Weege on the Moto-60 show said RC was the nicest person to him, and always is. I had to think, why is that? And it hit me that RC may actually be a nice person, if you are no threat to him. Think about it. Weege is a way better commentator, but RC is still nice. I think it’s because Weege could never have any analyst credibility because he’s never raced and could only be the play by play guy. Daniel, on the other hand, is a direct threat, because he DOES have the racer credentials to be an analyst, and the chops to also be a play by play guy. And he’s better at both than RC. Same for Dippy. DB is a threat to both, and together they were able to get rid of a direct threat. Weege has said he would NEVER take a stance like DB, so Dippy won’t ever have to worry about Weege being a threat either.
So, screw RC and Dippy, Daniel will do fine and will be back in the both with a different outlet (he’s calling arenacross, and there are other networks besides NBC that always look for talent). We just lose out on the best possible product by being dragged down by NBC. At least we won’t be triggered tonight by someone calling the East-west race a Shootout! OMG! SAVE THE CHILDREN!!! Screw “growing the sport” too, if it stick us with these NBC dipsticks.
It's a weaker, softer generation now. It's all about entitlement. Fact.
See it all the time with the new blood coming in. Doesn't matter, blue collar, white collar.
Worked for a major Semi-conductor company.... we had all those lame ass trainings too. It's all for optics and legal CYA.
That crap still went on. Most of the time it was managers brow-beating the employees. The attrition rate was horrendous in that company.
Honestly what I see now is some balancing out of the loyalties and expectations.
Companies expect full loyalty and commitment while providing none of it in return.
Avg house is 450k and avg car is 40k
People aren’t as willing to blindly put up with bs anymore.
The old fire service was the same. The only thing off limits was you wife and family. If you couldn't take the shit you were given around the kitchen table, how were you going to take the shit you were going to see and hear in an emergency? Today's generation doesn't get that at all and there is a whole bureau in place to help kids get in touch with their feelings, emotional support dogs and drum circles or some shit.
Based on the company I work for now....we see young people come and go, jumping from job to job. I know for a fact, they are treated well in our company. What they can't deal with is constructive criticism.
Time to ride, have a good day gentlemen. 👍
