I wonder if the NBC crew felt like Daniel had aspirations of going to a bigger sport and just wanted to use SX as a springboard/audition? Maybe RC thought DB was trying to show him up just to try and go elsewhere? Just random thoughts now that we’ve had time to digest it.

That is an awesome video and just watched it again. DB is good, no doubt, but he really fkd up IMHO. I like RC even more now. DB talks to RC and basically makes fun of him hitting a boat during a race? You are talking to RC, basically your bosses boss, a guy who can change your future, and you make fun of him ON CAMERA during his VIP tour of a track? Must have lost his fkng mind. Like I said before, there's a pecking order in every profession and now DB knows it. But, it did seem that RC wasn't having any of DB as he walked up to him. RC wasn't happy the second he started talking...maybe because of the old IG posts or whatever. I am not real familiar with it. RC established immediately what is what. Like it or not, DB fkd up.

You should wipe all of the RC off of your mouth.

Of all the takes here - You might just be the winner for wildest interpretation.

RC is no one's boss, first off. On a film set, the star isn't the boss, the producer/director is. Does the star have more pull? Yep. Does the star call a decent amount of the shots? Sure. But to pretend that DB's paycheck required RC's signature is just inaccurate at best.

Would RC have told an NBC film crew to "move" and then berate them (joking or not)? No, he wouldn't have, because he is not the boss.

I like RC. I respect what he has done for this sport AND I believe he has gotten so much better as an announcer....It's not an easy job, and outside of "learning lesson", I have zero problems with him in the booth.

What I do have a problem with is what seems to be RC projecting his insecurities on to someone with a smaller name.... It's no different than the popular kid starting to rag on the new kid when the new kid starts to get some attention from the cheerleaders.

And as an aside, my wife's family are the undisputed champions of "ribbing" and "joking" with a serious face...it took me some time to pick up on body language ques to know when they are joking or not.

My honest assessment of the video is that RC started out being sarcastic and then decided to double down on the tone and just start talking shit under the guise of "come on man we were just messing around"....That way if & when DB brought it up, DB would look like he couldn't take a joke. My brother was the king of that stuff & I don't speak to my brother anymore for reasons such as that. It's a bully tactic and one that is implored by those that don't know what it feels like to get punched in the jaw.

After 12 pages, I jumped ahead. Couple of thoughts.

1. Welcome to TV. The egos can be brutal to deal with, even from the nobodies.

2. RC is just ultra-competitive and wants to crush (almost) everyone.

3. Diffey, see #1.

4. If people complain loud enough, Peacock just may drop support of SMX, stating something like "its just not worth the headache", and that would be bad. Love to hear ML's opinion on this hot take.

5. Blair is super talented but appears a little too soft to deal with (see #1).

Just my .02, cant wait for Saturday nights show to see whats next!

I haven't watched Blairs video and I most likely won't....but I get what you're saying.        Only reason I brought it up is because you see a lot of the moto guys digging on each other (in fun).

One thing I've learned over the years....there are two sides to every story.

"I didn't watch the video but I'm going to offer my opinion on it"
"I don't watch the races anymore but want to offer my opinion on everything involving them"

Magoofan strikes again! At least he's consistent in that regard.

I did not mean RC literally signs his check. I meant, if RC wants you there you'll stay. If RC wants you gone, you're gone. RC, like it or not, has a LOT of pull in the industry. I for one like seeing him on the broadcasts. When RC rolled up with his VIP tour, get out of the way. Sure, banter for a sec, but then...get GONE. RC made this clear from the jump. This was not live TV DB was doing, it was being taped for later editing. Sure makes for a fun watch though...lol.

The whole thing is a bad look.    Who want's to bet RC will be booed when he shows up on the Jumbotron....

Just imagine the fanbase being the cause of killing their own golden calf (the broadcast).    😂

The only mistake DB made was being naive to the ruthless ego's he was working with............

He always added shine to the broadcast with his knowledge and sense of humor.....(luckily james in still on the crew but for how long??????????????)

Yep this is what narcissists do, they ride the line of plausible deniability so if they get called to the mat they can say "jk bro ur so sensitive". Fun part is they can dish it out but cry like a bitch when they're on the receiving end. Just shitty gaslighting.

I'm with you , I'm not reading 17 pages of back and forth dribble lol

But I do find it amusing that someone has lost/quit their job because they had a clash with their higher ups, then years later makes a youtube video crying about how hard done by they were and why the job should be theirs boo frickin hoo welcome to the real world.

And as for RDL last weekend he was offered time to go on there and he chose not to, previous weeks Matthes, and Lewis Phillips were only on there for a few minutes as well and they didn't have a hissy fit that they weren't allowed to commentate on the practices.

DB needs to get over himself I think.

I'm surprised they hang the ole hat on RC as much as they do.  Is it so they can say we've got the goat?  He's up on 20 years retired right away, and not a single new fan will know who he is.   There are more eloquent broadcasters out there.   Often he throws out the "watch this" and what he called to happen,  doesn't.

Nail, meet head.

Growing up racing, my brother was older and faster. For years, he would jump in my practice just to mess with me or take me out in front of everyone.

One day in all those years I was finally keeping pace, if not just an edge ahead. While he was trying to pass me, our lines crossed and he went down softly.

I went back to the truck, 30 seconds later he came hauling into the pits and beat the living shit outta me….he took me out 100 times, I was told to stop crying. I accidentally take him out once, I end up with a cracked rib.

Narcissists don’t believe in a two way street….

Diffey is garbage, like human garbage. that fuck does not belong in moto at all. what a fragile little fucker. the accent and the stupid "kickstart Kenny" thing is overdone. and RC, wow. I had heard from people that have had interactions with him that said he was a dick. I think this confirms it. another fragile fuck. makes sense now why he bowed out a bit early in his racing career knowing JS7 was soon to come etc. Will really is useless, the screechy accent and ramblings of "I just spoke to". JT, it's obvious he stays in his lane and keeps the ego of RC and that of Diffey untouched. from the beginning I thought WTF is up with this UK accent shit in supercross? I could see it in F1 but not moto in the states. I really hope all this gets some real traction and it helps clean up the broadcast team with some real talent in the booth. how can you "grow the sport" when you shit on your core audience whom floats the ship as it stands now. TBH I am over all this shit. if we really want change it has to start with the comments section on all their affiliated social media accounts and our Dollars.  BTW I am proud of all you guys that have jumped on that shit instantly. these assholes are paid buy us, don't believe me? stop buying their shit for a season or more and what would you know money talks. Jett and Deegan's ect, it's really best to sit this one out, it just makes you look like nut huggers, and you don't mind having some hate sent your way, because that is exactly what you're going to receive.

I just watched it. Like I tell my kids all the time, life is not fair and you will get fucked over and you have to learn to let it go and move on.

I like DB, think he did a great job. This seams to me it’s definitely been eating him up inside, a lot of emotions coming out with that video and I can understand that. He had a passion and dream he was trying to achieve and knew it wasn’t going to come true no matter what.
I really hope with this venting session he can start to really let it go and feel better about it all and move on to the next chapter in life.

The worst part about RC in the booth is his predictions. They never happen. "Watch this Leigh, he's setting him up on the inside of this next turn (rider goes outside). Oh, not that time!"

The worst part is his absolutely atrocious grammar. Just pitiful. He was homeschooled in name only, that is clear.

There was a reason the fans loved DB so much, he is MILES better at speaking than RC is. So was Emig.

RC should be embarrassed, but I simply don’t think he’s smart enough to realize it.

You can be the GOAT and a laughing stock at the same time. It’s clear he never understood that.

Exactly you’d have to not know anything any the sport, the coverage and people involved to have that opinion. And if that’s the case you shouldn’t be calling the shots.

I have no doubt the powers to be know DB is the better announcer, RC/Leigh got their egos smashed by DB, and the fans love DB on the broadcast, but when you need to cater to million dollar sponsors and big time VIPs, who do you want them spending some time with (as well as who do they want to meet and see on the broadcast), DB or RC/Leigh Diffey?

RC and Leigh have clout, DB is a great announcer.

Life isn't always about who does a single job the best, but who brings the most value overall, and make no mistake, that is measured in $$$$$$.

Shit isn't fair, but this is the game we are forced to play.

But make no mistake, DB could have stayed, found his spot and fit in, and he could have done that 3 minute RDL bit, etc.....

DB went for the race win and didn't want to settle for anything less. That is on him.  He thought he was going to go for the twofer and RC/Leigh block passed his ass.

This is what Weege does so well, the guy just stays in his lane and goes with the flow. Over time he has moved up and will have a good announcing career.

Langston gone, DB gone, Weege just keeps on trucking staying in his lane, building up his reputation every single year.

Regarding the PulpMX response to this last night...

Matthes repeatedly mentioned that he had tried to get DB to tell his story.

NOW that he did tell it...First thing Matthes says is something like "I dunno, If I were DB I don't think I would have gone this far" .

Hmmm....to me, that comes across as an instigator egging a buddy on to do something just to see the fireworks.

Lost a lot of respect for RC after this. Mainly him because he is the moto guy on there that has some leverage. Instead of backing Daniel , he not only threw him under the bus , he stabbed him in the back. And that video where he insults Daniel in front of all the VIP people....fucking disgraceful. RC deserves every bit of criticism here. Came across as a little douche bag!  I am and always will be a fan of his as a racer , but as a person?  Hard to respect a guy who does stuff like this. And Lee....the little respect I had for him is gone as well.

Why can't RC defend himself? If it's as bad as that comment implies, and RC would come out looking BETTER, why can't he defend himself? Because of the position he's in? Sounds like "defending" himself might do more harm than good, huh?

Of course there is another side to this, like everything in life. Nobody is saying there isn't a different perspective opposite of Blair. As of right now, that's the only one the public has, and the public reaction is obviously aligned with that.

I hope RC responds and gives his side, not because I disagree with Blair, but because having both sides is always better.

I’m thinking the same thing.

Am I mistaken or…doesn’t RC have a pod cast where he could tell his side of the story…? 🤣

DB was a wanna be/never was racer. Ricky is the GOAT. There is no arguing this. RC probably has more national championships than DB had race wins in his life. People on the outside, and many on the inside, want to listen to someone who has won...and Ricky won everything, regardless of their "eloquence" with the English language. RC has been there, done it and won it. DB simply found out the hard way what the pecking order is.

Hey ML yank this clowns account.

so if “EVERYONE” wants to hear RC, why has everyone been in an uproar about getting him the hell out and expressing how much DB is missed?

………………

A lot of truth in your post but the available evidence makes it look like RC was simply bitter at the fan reaction and used his clout to squash DB. That track walk interruption segment is a very bad look for RC, he was punching down which is never popular with anyone other than douchebags that would do the same thing with power.

RC is the absolute GOAT on an MX bike, no question about it, but that’s not enough to be a good broadcaster no matter how much his ego tells him it is.

The most important lesson here is that in the age of social media it’s much harder to keep a squeaky clean public image if you’re an asshole behind the scenes. RC is finding that out now.
