All new Zook 400...

So maybe there is a slim chance that we see a new RM-Z 250 and 450 at some point.

Great to see. I have an older DRZ400S in my line-up. It's been a great economical commuter and light duty adventure bike.

If the price isn't astronomical I'll consider one in the future.

This was only rumored for a decade or more. Really cool to see!

Yeah, engine management & ABS are Ok & all, but ; 

Is the hinged feeling chassis still the same ?
Is it still really top heavy feeling ? 
Still a five speed ?    

I owned one for a couple years - it resisted the simple ask of going straight on a gravel road. 

Fucking amazed was my actual first thought......  ML, is this their first offroad redesign on ANYTHING  since the RMZ 250 back in what, 2019?

It actually looks kind of good?? Also, kudos to the marketing team for putting together a nice video that 1.) Shows the bike very clearly, 2.) Makes me want to get one and go ride where they are. Dirt bike adverts aren't too bad, but the bicycle manufactures show a black bike, with a black background with dark lighting.. Drives me nuts. 

The DRZ400 has to be the best selling DS of all time, right?

Unfortunate that it gained about 15lbs but that was a bike desperately in need of some freshening up. the Supermoto model looks good too!

That or the KLR, but the KLR blurs the line between DS and ADV.

Sad this new DRZ is still a 5 speed. 

I loved my DRZ when I had it, although it wasn’t the street legal version off the showroom floor, but had been converted to street legal. It was a blast to ride! 

I hope there will be a USA version.

It looks a bit more modern, but that's probably the only thing I think I would like about it over my current DRZ.  If it had a 6 speed, I'd definitely consider it more of an option.

I had bought a DR-Z 400 once and had running issues, when i check the air filter it was a pair of women's tights through the carb and into the engine holding a valve open.

This is the bike my friend said was coming. He thought that it might have been an RMZ-based (450) model, but it looks like he was wrong about that. The gold forks and front fender shape suggest some carryover from the RM-Z line, though. 

A lot of people are missing a REALLY big highlight...Fly-by-wire throttle. Is this the first off-road bike with it? 

This is a good sign! We need more street-legal offroad options. Riding on federal or state land in California is currently limited to the CRF450X, KTM 350/500 XW-F (and Husky/GasGas equivalents) or something street legal.

Yummy, covers quite a gap between the little 25 HP trail bikes and the 200 kg adventure bikes.

Did you check the nut between the seat and handlebars?

Every time I see a DRZ, I can’t help but think about Dirt Rider’s Internet Bike Build competition from the mid ‘00s, where each forum was to build the best bike they could and Thumpertalk came through with a 60HP DRZ for some reason, lol.

I think the V-Strom 800DE proved that they weren't totally content to do nothing, because that bike is a surprisingly capable ADV bike. Love this new DRZ.

KTM 690 Enduro has had it for several years now. Pretty sure the EPA grandfather exemption ran out on the 400. They either had to update or stop selling them. Same thing happened with the KLR. 

DR650 and XR650L have each been on a longer run than the DRZ400 and KLR650 combined. 

Cool to see Suzuki update the 400 with traction control, ABS, and fly-by-wire throttle, but no 6-speed is a miss.

I don't know if it is a highlight or not.  For street riding, sounds good.  For mud riding?  I dunno.  Will it limit the types of grips you can use.  How does it hold up in crashes, etc?  It definitely sounds like a cool feature for the SM version, though.  

Again, the biggest update they could have done is to add a 6th gear, but if they didn't do that when designing the new engine and cases then they probably aren't going to ever do it now.  

Guys are pulling more than that out of these motors now. Its crazy to think but they're making the power of 450s. Basically all the power anyone could need from these old 400s.

Just as a point of interest- the Australian Suzuki team actually raced a DRZ400 in SX back around the turn of the century.
