And yes, a shitty move, and yes, i hope that they don’t ask him next year after a thing like this.

Edit: now they can ask him again 👌🏻

It's hilarious that your whole life revolves around Deegan 😀

He may still not want to ride the 250, but it was wise to accept and save some face with the Belgian fans. Im sure he was already getting heat.

That was a very public flailing, as opposed to the softer "we-aren't-going-to-call-you-out" US rider situations. Nice to see the direct approach and willingness to reconsider by Coenen.

I think this will be the first time they will not participate .

It would have been the second time; Belgium boycotted the 1968 MXdN because it was being held in the Soviet Union. Only 6 nations raced that year.

If Lucas Mirtl does his job properly he does not need Vital to understand the vibe.

This is so weird to me by the way. Is the whole team going 450 next year then or was that his own descision? He would probably smoke everyone in the MX2 next year, grab that title before you go to the US imo.

It is absolutely mental that L.Coenen thought this was a good move and that there would be no pushback. Glad he is back in but to be honest, he needs to get down from his ivory tower.

Btw this move is also completely insane. Even though i doubt this will happen, but what if he somehow manges to win the title next year? Then he would be forced to race 450 SX starting 2026.

Perfectly handled by the Belgians in my opinion…worked a treat 👍

I'm glad he reconsidered. The MXdN without Belgium would be a lot less competitive.

Really glad he will be there, excited to see him ride in person, he is a crazy talent and could easily win the MX2 class with a good start.  These antics definitely throw off a pretty negative vibe though, I mean every other European star is gonna be there (including ones like Gasjer who has little chance of winning or landing on the podium), why is a 17YO trying to pull a power play like this?

Still looking like 2026 for the Coenens arrival in the US?

Very true, but it seems it is the plan...

Sure seems like they played the same Belgian DeCoster card... "Blame Eli if he doesn't want to go, so Team USA will have to forfeit." - Tomac agrees to race 2 days later. Its the same chickensh*t tactic. "Lucas doesn't want to race MX2, so I guess we'll have to forfeit." Lucas agrees to race a day later...

He could always pull out mid season to « focus on the 2026 season » like they used to do in 125 SX to avoid pointing out.

I would think winning the MXGP title kind of beats worrying about not being able to join the regional sx serie....

I heard this all started when Sacha answered the phone and said, “yes…this is Lucas….What?…. Screw you….I’m not riding a f*#&ing 250!”  And hung up laughing…
