Great Press Release. Says absolutely nothing. Continue to stand in your corner and pretend you aren't the only one there pointing the finger at DC/MXS, or whoever else disagrees with you.

Only way it will work is if Bud gets someone to represent his interests and negotiate a finalized deal. Someone in his ear that reminds him..this is for the best. It’s either give up a little, be the “bigger man”, and make it happen.

Even if he gives up 3500 tickets, the money made off the rest of the race certainly makes up for it.

Set it up in a contract that they are not allowed to sell the tickets. Then the 3500 tickets aren’t actually 3500 tickets, especially if they only give out 2000.

I've got a great idea! just sign the same fucking agreement as the other 11 tracks! After watching both interviews and seeing how Bud Jr has responded in here and now that worthless say nothing letter...its very apparent who and what the problem is...At least now we know that the chance of having a national at GH is 0%....time to move on...

Dumb idea:  someone set up a GoFundMe page, lets see if we can raise enough funds to bridge the contract gap betw MSX + GHR.....hopefully, they can use these funds to directly increase the Purse, and also get the hard working 10th thru 40th place finishers paid respectably.

If enough riders, racers, spectators, industry folks keep this protest alive, sooner or later, the race will happen at GH  (where the race should take place!)

I was going to suggest this too. I just don't think that Bud wants to work with MX sports and will keep finding reasons they are unable to work together.

Bud would just find something else to try and negotiate....it has nothing to do with the money it has to do with having to "win" the negotiation...

I've gone to several nationals. Nationals where (it's apparent) both MXS and track owners make a fair amount of money.

Now someone thinks the fans should start a GoFundMe to help the actual riders get paid? That's some absolute Felkampian logic, right there.

From what I've read, it seems like that was already attempted, and Bud ended up involving himself where he wasn't wanted (shocking, right? Just ask Tomac...) and killed the whole deal.

Good for Bud he's been successful in life, it's fine he doesn't NEED the national, but I think we all know one of those guys that once they get to that point they are absolutely insufferable to work with.

Ultimately with Bud having ANY control over things at GH, I think it might be a blessing in disguise we don't have a national there.

At this point, no matter what is agreed upon beforehand, him and Jr sure seem like the type of guys to find a problem for every solution.

Just read through this whole thread. TL;DR - “No low ballers. I know what I have.”

I just finished listening to the podcast on my way home from Pala. My take on the whole thing is there will not be a Glen Helen National anytime soon. Sad.

Agreed.

Bud is the problem, from his vague and contradictory responses on here Jr doesnt seem much different, that PR letter said nothing either.

In business everyone is gunning to make a beneficial contract for themselves. Alot of the time the counter party makes more than you but ultimately sometimes you've got to put aside your ego and ask yourself "am I still benefiting from this?" If you are it doesn't really matter what the counter party gets from it?

It seems like GH aka Bud is so consumed by not coming out #1 in the National deal that's it's stopping a GH national from happening at all?

AKA “We didn’t get the response we want (overwhelming unanimous support from everyone) so we’re going to keep beating the same drum and hope people change their mind”. Glen Helen is starting to look desperate at this point.

Everyone telling Bud to give up 3500 in tickets for the love of the sport could say the same to Davey.

Unless all the other 11 tracks do the exact same agreement (they most likely do) we need another track owner to disclose what the deal from MXS looks like.

GH is great. We all want GH to be on the nationals. But most of us probably agree(including MXS) it's not worth risking losing a whole series by upsetting 11 other tracks by giving GH special treatment

I knew that when i asked the question…he was dancing around the subject and tried to make it appear that they were selling tickets to anybody…he avoided the question about them putting a value of $80 per ticket but MXS was selling them at $50 pre-order and $60 at will call so the numbers they show in their response is wrong….I was 60/40 on MXS side prior now I’m 95/5…and seeing the video that gypsy showed and MXnick’s personal account of what happened with Eli on the podium…well it speaks for itself…

Here is a link to the video with sound.

You can hear how confused Eli is when Bud walks up to him and says “I need you to go take a lap…” and Eli responds back…”I gotta take my bike off the podium…?”

Keep in mind that Eli just went 1-1 on the day and after narrowly losing out on the SX championship just a few weeks before, so it was a very emotional moment for him, and also for the large group of fans that had assembled at the podium to watch what was going on.

That video is some laughable shit and should close any thoughts that GH is reasonable or even of sound mind as an organization

"Some of the reasoning may be that GH has the ability to "hold out" for things that we think are critical for our long-term success, as well as the long-term success of MX in general."

On the surface this seems pretty self-righteous. Maybe I'm reading it incorrectly?

In your opinion you have "the ability to hold out" but ultimately you don't have a national, so that "ability" appears to look like taking your ball and going home.

Doesn’t seem self-righteous to me. GH is a business and they can run it anyway they see fit. That’s their choice. They are a profitable business without a National. If they don’t like the deal MXS presents them, they don’t have to do it. I give them credit for standing firm for what they think is right for them, instead of caving in to the outside pressures. That said, I’d still like to see a National at GH again.

Yes, MXS can do what they want with the tickets that are allotted to them...we don't really have any control of then once they are promised as part of a contract.  The reason we were pushing so hard to keep that number low at 1250 is exactly for that reason.  If they wanted to sell them or give them away, that was their business.  However, when we start getting higher numbers of allotted tickets, then it starts to eat into the revenue for GH.  Maybe I wasn't clear in that point.  There is an exact outline of the "negotiation" process in 2018 on the GHR website.

Again, just trying to get the information out there as to why there was no National after 2018.  As much as people want to talk about the "podium" incident as being the reason, that simply isn't true.  MXS and GH entered into contract negotiations AFTER the podium incident and simply were not able to agree on the ticket issue.

GH you were clear. Thanks for bringing some clarity to some questions. Seems to me MXS wants all the guaranteed money they can get, with no risk.

That’s all fine and dandy but they shouldn’t then keep going off on how they want to run a national and that MXS are liars and the real reason why GH isn’t on the schedule. If it’s not about the money like they say then that means it’s all about power. Wanting to be the one who runs the show and wanting special treatment instead of agreeing to same thing the 11 other rounds consistently do.

Bud basically said “It’s my way or the highway” and chose the highway but keeps coming back to try and act like that’s not the case. All GH needs to say is something like “We declined to participate in MXS’s pro national because we do not agree with the contract presented.”  It they don’t do that because it would make them look selfish considering every other track seems eager to be on the schedule every year. Instead they keep playing victim and acting like they’re ultimately not the ones that took it off the schedule.

If I was any of the other track owners and found out one track was getting a much more lucrative deal, I would be livid. GH is acting like the victim over and over because they didn’t get special treatment.

I'm going with Davey on this one, going solely off the Gpysy interviews.  Bud did not give a good account of his side of the story. Lots of off-the-point rambling, after Gypsy finally let him talk.

I genuinely watched a few times thinking I missed something, but apparently I’m not alone 😂
