Yes, MXS can do what they want with the tickets that are allotted to them...we don't really have any control of then once they are promised as part of a contract. The reason we were pushing so hard to keep that number low at 1250 is exactly for that reason. If they wanted to sell them or give them away...
Basically, the fees going directly to MXS consist of the 100k sanctioning fee plus the value of the 3500 tickets they want to be provided (which of course has a significant value). Of course, none of this takes into account the other expenses Glen Helen Raceway incures by having the event...pro purse of $70k, track/labor costs, etc...

Be able to have its own VIP areas and sponsorship areas would probably be a hard requirement for me to have, being part of running a track that has nationals on it. You can't bring in sponsors for 364 days a year to an arena or event area as big as GH, and shut them out for the one major event that you co-arrange. No sponsors or partners would be happy with that. If MX-sport rented the facility it would be a different thing (much like Feld do for SX), but they are not.

Bud Jr. If I said that MXS "canceled" a national in a post, then that was my mistake. In the past, everyone has made it seem like GH "canceled" the national when in fact there wasn't even a signed deal to have a national. A better term would be that MXS "removed the national from the schedule" after it became...
So to clarify, it's the responsibility of GH staff to make sure that DC follows through on his promises regarding his own company? GH staff should have done all the communication with MXS crew instead of their own boss? I was standing feet away from Bud when he shook DC's hand and Davey said "We have a deal. We will...

Glen Helen- How about a compromise for the fans, since a National seems to be a dead issue? Glen Helen hosts the 2028 (or 2029 depending on the rotation) MXoN? There-problem solved, fans are happy and GH would be an epic MXoN venue! I know GH got burned on the last MXGP for low ticket sales (that was really disappointing to see such a shit turnout), but MXoN is not in the same league as hosting a MXGP. I love Red Bud, it was a bucket list trip for the family at the last round. But October weather in SoCal...

MXS can do whatever they want with the tickets that are allotted to them. The market will decide how much they want to sell them for, not us. Our position is that ~1500-2000 tickets should be plenty for a series promoter to take care of riders/mechanics/sponsors etc. If they are fighting so hard for more, then you have to start...
If you are referring to the podium incident with Eli, of course it happened. What I am disputing is the reasoning behind it. There was no VIP promise of handshakes. The idea for the fence line ride was simply an attempt for some "good will" with fans and a great addition to the trip to the finish line. The fact...

I have a couple points on this. It seems that this is probably how things have been for a long time, with teams' riders, staff AND friends and family, plus MXS vendors and sponsors, other industry people, and retired riders and retired industry people always asking for tickets. This seems like it's a pain in the butt for everyone, but having that allotment probably keeps the wheels turning, so to speak, and allows everyone to focus on the main work at hand. I can only imagine what it takes to run a national from all parties. I haven't seen tickets...

Thanks for the input/feedback. We are simply trying to get our side "out there" and wanted to be sure we clarified any misinformation. At the end of the day, MXS and GH are two separate entities that have to mutually agree on terms for an event. We don't blame MXS for what they are requesting on their side any more...
I'll try to address as best I can in order of your questions. Ticket sales - Have you ever been to an event at GH and seen the giant white tent that says "Industry Services"? That is where they are sold. High fives for VIPs - Never happened, plain and simple. The "parade" by the fence line was simply for...
The series "hard card" is sold to teams and riders by MXS, with all profits going to them. This would be considered an "admission" ticket by GH and part of the 3500 allotment they wanted. Go to our website and we have a breakdown of how they are sold, what they cost, etc...
Just to clarify, that is not how MXS is using their ticket allotment. They are using them to prop up their own series sponsors and team packages that they have SOLD as well as allowing people to purchase those same tickets at the front gate of GH by the main pit entrance. They aren't using the tickets to grease the...
The podcast really tries to give it in one shot. Obviously, a lot of history to cover. At the end of the day, the final issue that could not be agreed upon was the number of tickets that MXS wanted vs what GH thought was reasonable to hold an event.

To me it sounds like Bud would rather pay the 50k to the guys racing dirt bikes instead of the promoter.

Yes, 100% agreed. GH has to maintain great relationships with local businesses, neighbors, etc...which is why GH would always take them into account with tickets. But these were not comps coming from the MXS allotment, these are tickets that GH would provide since we are the local track. MXS doesn't care about the neighbors when they are in town for...
