He has so much sincere input. Dude doesn’t talk about his accolades and instead acts like he’s just some ex racer. I love his insight and humble attitude
Im diggin it
His observation about Jett and Chase's rear wheels out of the corner was great, shows how much he's studying while he's watching.
Agreed. He picks up on stuff that even many racers wouldn’t notice (me included), and still explains it in a way that both experienced riders and newcomers can understand. Impressive.
Word. And I wasn't a JS7 fan when he raced. I'll give him props for maturing.

Stew is actually a great race commentator. We had 2 hours of racing today and I didn’t hear a single “OOOH!!” Or “must situation” from him.
RC seriously needs to go. And he is my GOAT but he’s not good at calling races.
James is fantastic in the booth, hopefully SX will eventually work it out and put him in there permanently rather than Ricky.
I feel he talks way to much.
He's been great in the booth... really enjoy his technical analysis when he's working with Weege etc.
I love everything about JS7 in the booth! His insight on race lines, bike setup, track conditions, and he’s funny as hell! I love it!
And it's not only things about how their bikes are working. His input on the mental game going on mid moto in great
JS is awesome. Rc needs to back off, he is ruining his legacy as a racer. People are beginning to forget RC as a racer, and how shitty he is as an announcer, he is an embarassment. But James.... hell yeah..,. great job, well spoken, great insights, well done!
Todays race commentary was 1000% better than all of supercross
How great was that broadcast. Weege does a great job and James and JT former racers that get shit like that.
It looked like all the ktms had that issue, Kitchens bike looked more hooked up than Vialle’s early in the first race.
The nationals commentary is so much better than SX because they actually call the race.
What was nice about todays broadcast?
-There was only one track reporter that they went to and it was less often,... but because it was JT$... a former pro, it was intelligent and worth listening to.
-Weege didn't hype the action by getting overly boisterous like I bet Feld SX tells him to.
-Stewart was David Baily-esque. Calm, intelligent commentary, pointing out small details that us core fans geek out on.
-No sharing the booth with RC. I don't mean that as disrespect to Ricky. If RC would have been solo in the booth with Weege and did the David Baily type of commentary he would have been just as good as Stew.
-Camera work was great. Clear pictures, the drone did a great job, not too close or dodgy, just right.
Stew is great in the booth and now I feel like I have seen everything. A post on vital that’s overwhelming positive about the broadcast.
Not having Will Christian really helped as well. You felt like the broadcast could breathe from not having so much shit pushed into it.
Pit Row
Agreed. RC needs to recognize this on his own and step away. I loved him as a racer, but he is just awful at calling races. Stew is great, when he is the only analyst. When RC is there, Ricky is always trying to overtalk him and relating everything to their battles.
Agreed. Any the fact that there was actually good interesting racing. This sx season, while the points were close, might have been the moray boring season in years.
and no inside scoops on how the managers said they worked on starts this week.
I think he’s a great analyst!
He's superb, absolutely superb! In fact one of his best commentaries ever.
Constant high quality insight - he adds to the dynamics of what is actually happening on the race track, picking apart things even long time fans/riders might miss.
The part where he started talking about Chase's bike reaction around the track was particularly good, most people simply wouldn't notice something like that. Paul is also very good in the GPs and Iv'e long suspected James could do the same in AMA i.e contribute that deeper technical and psychological insight outside of the usual, run-of-the-mill boring fluff.
It's a skill. We know this because we've had many different people in the booth over the yrs, the vast majority of which don't have it. James is one of the few that does.
It's crazy to think that not long ago everyone was wondering what he was doing. Pulpmx and AC did a finding Stew video and everyone was wondering where and what he was up to.
Fast forward to now and he is so involved in the sport from his position in the broadcast to his podcast to Seven to working with Sexton for a short time, etc.
He is humble, doesn't awknowledge his own credentials, doesn't promote Seven, gives credit where credits due, and adds amazing insight - in a format that can be easily understood by someone new while also adding valuable information to die hard fans. Add to that his goofy and fun personality. His sometimes corny jokes. He's the same kid who was doing the sprinkler or whatever it's called when he was in the 125 class. He's having a blast and it's fun to watch him continue to develop into this new role he has within the sport. It is so much better with him involved.
Now all we need is to see him having some fun riding again!
Hes a big fan of the sport thata for sure.
hes always picking small setup variations like that ....great colour commenter... also gets in the heads of the riders as well.
unfortunately RC does not!! as he was not big on fine tuning setup (just bulldogged what ever he was riding).
agree but they have more time on their hands and can actually think abit about how the race is evolving.................. SX is too short and hectic..
I agree, but that’s even more of a reason to just focus on the racing in SX.
Refreshing for sure!
I liked that interaction where stew said he’s more of a table top guy now and weege said something like “all of us like to imagine that you’re still somewhere doing quads”
I still think GL is the best outdoor analyst, but James is definitely coming in to his own.
